Title: Old football games that stand the test of time...
Post by: horseplayer on February 15, 2016, 12:11:16 PM
The modern game sees players run more than double what they did in 1980.

So most games pre 1990 look slow and very outdated. This game is one of the rare exceptions imo.

watch this fairly often good skills levels a very even game that could have gone either way.

Any other examples would be great.

Cheers

Yeah, I remember sometime back about 10-15 years ago BBC2 showed the entire 1966 World Cup Final and, boy, were there dull patches. Entire periods with defenders knocking it to each other and back to the keeper with no one running about off the ball.

One of the best examples is Italia 1990. Possibly the dullest tournament ever massively skewed by the fact England did relatively well in it. There are "highlights" packages of that around and the quality is shocking.

Remember this as they played each other 3 times in quick succession. From recall, the Forest keeper was probbo man of the match, such was Liverpool's dominance
