Leicester are playing at celtic on 23rd July, a saturday

I would like to go, but of course the prospect of playing at celtic has never been remotely possible so i am coming from little knowledge

not an occasion or atmosphere i would miss though

I would be taking my son

I assume the reception we'd get as away fans would be ok, no need to worry? family friendly, within reason?

flying up, which are reasonable areas to look to stay which are ok to get to Parkhead and back to the airport the next morning?

recommendations might save me a lot of searching time, thanks

Heh, 3rd August is my son's and my birthday. Bought the flights today, not sure how many Stockholm fans we have on here....

I've never known for there to be trouble or animosity at pre season friendlies. I very much doubt you would get any hassle if you were with your son even if it was a Euro tie.

Away fans reception at Parkhead is very much dependent on the visitors antics as oppose to our own. I think if you win the league you will be given a hero's welcome. Not to forget the Martin O'Neil and Neil Lennon connection between the clubs.

For a hotel anywhere in the city center is good for accommodation that way your in between the Airport and the ground. Jury's Inn in pretty central.

Think you'll be disappointed with the atmosphere.

Friendly games at Celtic are not the best. Would be good to see Leicester here though.

My only Leicester v Celtic game was at filbert street and was spoiled by first the police, then Leicester/England/Chelsea/anti IRA fans wearing Celtic tops and taking them off once amongst the Celtic fans to cause trouble. As long as people like that don't turn up then it will be fine.

As said above City Centre you're fine, train + a bit of a walk out to the ground. THere won't be any hassle unless Leicester have a daft mob who would come up looking for it. (not sure there will be much atmosphere btw - most up here are keener on the Barcelona game in Dublin on the 30th as a weekend away). Leicester will be heroes if you clinch the EPL.

Airport has regular buses to and from city centre - taxis well expensive. Give us a shout nearer the time & we'll get Vinny, Bandit, maybe even Teacake & Dave out for a beer pre/post match.

Was there not some animosity the last time Leicester and Celtic played in a friendly?  

I think much will depend on the buzz around what happens in the summer, I suspect Celtic get rid of Delia and get a new manager in.   If that is the case there may be a buzz back around Celtic Park, additionally with the rangers coming back up, I am pretty sure season book sales will increase so could perhaps see a bigger crowd due to that.  

Hotel wise Jury's is a good shout for Glasgow, my rec would be Premier Inn Charing X you have a train station right outside your actually in the City Centre and have plenty of options for drinking/eating/casino.  It's also an easy route out for airport and there is an airport bus that passes through on Bath St on way out.  

Edit - Premier Inn Charing Cross is booked out just had a quick look.

Millenium Hotel @ George Sq (best option for travel)

There are a few others but costs start to creep up.   If you would consider a guest house there are also a few close to Celtic Park and City Centre. 

The guys have pretty much covered everything off, if you win the league you'll get a great reception, very little chance of trouble, it's the middle of holiday season and ground will probably be about half full.

If you have the time you should try and spend a couple of nights, Glasgow is a fantastic city and totally different to what most people expect. There are loads of great pubs, resteraunt, etc and the Merchant City Festival is usually on that weekend.
There's also the Glasgow Science Centre and the new Riverside Transport Museum which is free like most of the museums, parks and places of interest in Glasgow.

i like glasgow, think i have done six or seven events there going back to cincins (memories) in 2007 and always enjoyed the city

definitely going, now its just working out how long we can swing up there

Also the League Cup early sections should be on (for the first time in new format) - giving you the chance of collecting another ground.

always thought i wanted to go to Partick/Firhill, so thats on the list

have been to love street, the old st mirren

which of the glasgow grounds should i try to get to, league cup draw dependent, if i like character/architecture/atmosphere?

Recently stayed at the Apex in Glasgow, was great.

Firhill if there's a game is the obvious one with the added bonus of the shittest club mascot ever.

Queens Park at Hampden, just to see Hampden, one nice stand & a strange atmosphere with a few hundred in a 51K stadium.

Then start looking outside Glasgow  within easy train access.

Down to Dumbarton, the Strathclyde Homes Stadium is actually a nice wee ground (old name Boghead).

Greenock for Morton, Cappielow is run down, with a rough crowd, but a good atmosphere.

Same goes for Albion Rovers at Cliftonhill, with the smallest capacity in the SPFL.

Not much to recommend about Motherwell, but another old style ground.

 Also could catch an old ground at night & go to Shawfield for the Greyhounds.

Was going to buy you a pint after the Partick - Celtic game, but you ignored me on Facebook.

Cliftonhill is a good day out.   Have been a few times and they have a good atmo.   

It's obviously very dependent on fixtures though.   

If going a few days before the game, definitely book in for the tour of Celtic Park.   

If into your History, ibrox could also be a shout, it might not be there for too much longer. 

How old is your kid?  No doubt that will limit much of what you can do.
