Title: Mike Carlson - LIVE on Sky Sports 4 tonight. Post by: tikay on May 10, 2016, 03:45:35 PM From recent feedback, it seems Mike Carlson is revered by many as a quality NFL pundit. Mike will be the Guest on the Sky Poker "Grudge Match" tonight on Sky Sports 4 between 10pm & Midnight. Mike will be playing a bit of "fun" poker against Stu Rutter, but really, the idea of these shows is to leave room for plenty of informal chat with the Guest, & to field as many viewers questions as possible. Any questions, send them to #skypokertv I believe Richard Orford is the Presenter, & Mr Neil Channing will be the Guest Talker. Mercifully, you will be spared my expert NFL analysis & probing questions. This post made on a train. How cool is that? Title: Re: Mike Carlson - LIVE on Sky Sports 4 tonight. Post by: tikay on May 10, 2016, 03:49:23 PM A lot of people - certainly more than 1 - asked when they would be able to catch a replay of last week's Show, which featured Matt Elliott, who was something of a Leicester City standing dish for many a year. The full Show is below...... YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37gNnXkUNsw Title: Re: Mike Carlson - LIVE on Sky Sports 4 tonight. Title: Re: Mike Carlson - LIVE on Sky Sports 4 tonight. Post by: arbboy on May 11, 2016, 12:19:41 AM Orford sold me on his NFL knowledge for 90 minutes there (i really didn't think he was getting fed stuff through his ear piece) until he just announced Brett Favre's name totally wrong! Fair play to channing and Mike for keeping a straight face there!
Great show but it must be boring the shit out of 99% of sky poker players who watch every week. Title: Re: Mike Carlson - LIVE on Sky Sports 4 tonight. Post by: The Camel on May 11, 2016, 03:02:42 AM Never thought I'd ever watch a poker show on tv again, but if this gets uploaded I will have to tune in.
Love Iron Mike. Title: Re: Mike Carlson - LIVE on Sky Sports 4 tonight. Possibly, but it is quite specifically targeted at a different demograph completely - the Sky Sports audience who enjoy watching various sporting names & who might be, or become, "poker curious". I'd imagine most of the audience could be named so should be fairly easy to work this out Title: Re: Mike Carlson - LIVE on Sky Sports 4 tonight. Post by: tikay on May 11, 2016, 01:40:53 PM Do the viewing figures vary much based on the guest or are they pretty flat week on week? They vary dramatically, but it's usually hard to correlate with a particular Guest. To muddy the water still further, viewing figures are not measured in simple terms, when we get the Report is has scores of categories, but broadly speaking, they are measured by how long the viewer watches, & this can be measured in seconds & minutes. Above 3, 5, 10 or 20 minutes is usually the main yardsticks. Bizarrely, even sub 30 seconds is measured, and as you can imagine, that's often the biggest category. ;) The real clues as to the volatility of the figures are... What was on immediately before? If it follows, say, a big football game on the same channel, that helps. As for this Tuesday, I'd have a good bet that the figures for the first segment would be lower than expected, as the West Ham Man U game over-ran by some time, & the post-match interviews & punditry get really high figures. Once that ended, viewers start scrolling the remote to see what else is on, & at that point, the Show would have picked up more viewers. We won't get to see those numbers until next month though. The total viewers number jumps around enormously, but broadly speaking, on Sky Sports, the Show gets 20 times or more views than the old 861 (non-Sky Sports) Show got. It's a tidy 5 figure number, but has yet to threaten 6 figures. Title: Re: Mike Carlson - LIVE on Sky Sports 4 tonight. Post by: Tal on May 13, 2016, 08:46:14 AM Carlson plugged the show twice on the Americarnage podcast this week.
It's here: http://www.americarnage.co.uk/shows/americarnage-213-dont-ask-boring-questions/ Really is an absolute must for US sport fans. Title: Re: Mike Carlson - LIVE on Sky Sports 4 tonight. Post by: tikay on May 25, 2016, 08:17:35 AM For the Mike Carlson fans, here's the 2 hour Show he did a couple of weeks ago. Apologies for the delay, it slipped my mind.
It's Mike Carlson as you have never seen or heard him, as he is quizzed about a whole range of stuff. The story of how he came to live in England, & start doing front of camera TV stuff is fascinating. His first TV gig was to commentate on a basketball game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQ9eqvg-GC8&feature=youtu.be WARNING - it's 2 hours long, so might be best to make use of the FF button. |
