Title: Cash game ruling please ... Post by: Checkitdown on August 06, 2016, 01:42:30 AM 2 players in a hand £1/2 holdem cash game ..
Board is Ad Ks 8h Js Qc On the river player 1 bets £50 Player 2 raises to £150 putting player 1 all in .. Player 1 ( bit of a newbie) doesn't realise the raise and thinks player 2 has just called and turns over Ac Kc Dealer says to player 1 that because you turned your cards over it is classed as a fold . Player 1 says he didn't realise that player 2 has raised and is still wanting to call the all in bet . Cardroom manager is called and the decision is upheld ... player 1 can not call the bet and his hand is folded . Player 2 has the nuts and shows his cards just to make player 1 feel better knowing he has now saved his money. Is this the correct ruling ? .... would it be any different if player 1 also had the nuts on the river ( knowing he is not looking for a reaction from the other player ) Title: Re: Cash game ruling please ... Post by: Rexas on August 06, 2016, 04:51:27 AM I think this is a dreadful ruling, although I can understand the floor's decision on the basis that the guy could turn his hand over looking for a reaction and then decide what to do. Think this is a spot where common sense should prevail and if he's clearly a new/inexperienced player he should be given the option to call/fold.
Title: Re: Cash game ruling please ... Post by: Cf on August 06, 2016, 08:19:17 AM Allow him to call.
If he is a newbie its rulings like this that put them off. Although it went in his favour in this case! Title: Re: Cash game ruling please ... Post by: dakky on August 06, 2016, 10:54:18 PM Showing your hand should never kill it. Unfortunately not all places agree with this.
Title: Re: Cash game ruling please ... Post by: DungBeetle on August 06, 2016, 11:15:27 PM I suffered from exact same ruling at Hippo a few years ago when drunk. Don't see why it is a good rule personally.
Title: Re: Cash game ruling please ... Post by: SuuPRlim on August 07, 2016, 12:05:49 AM Wtf dreadful ruling, entirely wrong.
Action hasn't been changed at all, ok his cards are revealed but all he can do is call or fold...so.... Call the bet, or fold the hand. Very very simple. Title: Re: Cash game ruling please ... Post by: luther101 on August 10, 2016, 02:37:09 PM Cards exposed, no aggressive action allowed .... (haven't touched the muck) 'passive' call option still open - absolute shite ruling, especially to a rookie player! Title: Re: Cash game ruling please ... Post by: DMorgan on August 10, 2016, 02:39:48 PM Its the correct ruling by the book I think since AK can be angling, turning his hand over to get a reaction from the raiser either (either physical or to get him to turn his own cards over thinking the action is finished)
If the guy is obviously not doing that and its an honest mistake then he should be allowed to call imo Title: Re: Cash game ruling please ... Post by: diondustbin on August 13, 2016, 09:22:24 AM rules are rules and are there for a reason, but i think in obvious cases where it's not angling with beginners exceptions should be made
