Title: Ruling question from a poker hand in my dream last night
Post by: bergeroo on September 11, 2016, 12:04:23 PM
A had quite a vivid dream last night. Here is a poker hand that happened in the dream. Sadly stack sizes were not completely clear in the dream (unbelievable), so I've had to make them up.

It is a live poker cash game with me and some celebrities. Stakes unclear. Everyone is smoking and eating grapes.

Seat 2. UTG Jonathan Ross (30BBs)
Seat 3. UTG+1 Jeremy Clarkson (80BBs)
Seat 8. Button Michael Stipe (100BBs+)
Seat 9. SB Patrick Stewart (60BBS)
Seat 1. BB Me (100BBS)

Ross opens 5x utg and Clarkson calls. Folds around to Stipe who also calls from the button. Patrick Stewart seems to like his hand and raises to 15bbs. I look down at  Js Jc

In my dream I go all in for 100BBs and the action is on Ross. He goes into the tank. He's thinking for so long that Jeremy Clarkson folds out of turn.

I stand up and about to remonstrate with the former Top Gear presenter, taking my hand off my cards. In that moment the dealer takes my cards and sweeps them into the muck. I am horrified and look at the dealer open mouthed. In a twist the dealer is actually my girlfriend! She shrugs at me and smiles.

Stipe is oblivious to all of this (rock stars eh) and also folds directly into the muck.

My question is now. What happens? I'm all in with no cards and I have the other two guys covered.

Is Patrick Stewart now entitled to 30bbs whatever happens as long as he doesn't fold. Should Stipe get any of the pot as he had the last live hand that had me covered. If not then what happens to the other 40bbs, do I get them back?

We need some stats on how often Stipe bets.

What's the frequency?

It is s a bad song by REM, of whom Michael Stipe is the lead singer and chief invader of dreams.

Doubt he knows who REM is, Doobs. He's not exactly into cultural stuff.

Probably thinks it's a sprocket guard for his Tupperware hair dryer thing.

What a dream.

Youre hand is dead though, hopefully rebuys are allowed.

Somewhat crazily this actually happened to me in real life, with JJ...

Was 10/20/40 NL at bellagio,  I 3 bet, been 4bet and the guy was a lunatic German guy and had about 6k total, I was pretty convinced I was going all in but was just thinking for 10-12 seconds when I was sat totally still, the dealer just randomly grabbed my cards and mucked them...I was steaming, then the guy showed he had aces and I was less steaming :-D

And that was the last time anyone ever considered going 150bb preflop with JJ I think... I miss those days

Fascinating psychological symbol.

Not wishing to go fully Carl Jung on you, but this could possibly be your subconscious telling you that playing cards just isn't for you anymore and that your gf would be quite happy at the prospect.

Or it could be just a random dream.
