£100 - 5k

Myself and 4 friends have put £20 in a pot for a total of £100 and we are going to roll the money over backing short priced bets hoping to get to 5k and all scoop a 1k share..

I will post all bets on here to keep track and bring some of you along for the ride.

All bets will be placed on BF.

£100 on France to beat Sweden at 1/3

First bet seems very risky to me though, I don't think 1/3 is a very good price at all, Sweden are a good side. Hope you win :)

I just read through the 40odd pages of Eso's £20 - 40k.... I think the most anyone got was 9 winning bets but from starting with £10 or £20 and cashing out a couple of times prematurely/wisely.

Lets hope this thread has some run good and we get to the 5k :D

We are toying with the idea of Bet 4 being... Rosberg to podium at 1/3

Figure Rosberg wont do anything stupid and will coast to a podium finish, damage limitation finish 2nd and head to Abu Dhabi firmly in the driving seat!!

Hi Arb... The only bet ive put on the exchange was laying Smith, the rest ive just done on the sportsbook BF site.

Id imagine im on the highest rate of commission cause im just a casual gambler... not like some of you seasoned pros.

After a lot of deliberation, we have decided that today is a no play day... we could easily punt it off on something tonight, but we all feel that there isnt anything stand out that we all agree with. (Supposed this is one of the issues of it not being off my own back) but then again, it should keep us disciplined.

We liked the look of Argentina tonight v Columbia, but looking into recent results show its not a good bet. 1 goal in 3 games and 2 0-0 draws.

We looked at Rochdale v Maidstone Utd, 50 odd league positions between them but not something we feel comfortable throwing 700+ quid at.

I liked the look of Novak tonight to be Raonic but everything suggests that Novak isnt in a good place at the minute and is struggling with his mental side of the game.

After yesterdays suggestion of reading Buying shit way of the nit, I managed to get to page 50 last night, and will continue reading tonight. Im glad that this thread has re-invigorated the old thread and hope one of you go on a good run!

I'd be surprised if someone having a spin up got closed Tighty. Maybe restricted in certain markets based on the event in question but not closed. It's not like these are bets that are best priced or where there is an edge that is apparent after the event (no offence meant to the OP btw). If anything, I'd have thought that firms would be pretty happy to oblige this type of rolling acca.

Arb are you having to resort to shop bookies and exchange only these days to pay your way? 

99% of my turnover week to week is laying dogs on betfair.  I don't get involved in a great deal else tbh because i can't get the volume on to justify doing the work.  I probably turn over more a month in betting shops fucking around having a score a spin playing roulette a couple of times a month than i do in actual bets.

I wouldn't say there was anywhere near as much variance in those as the darts and snooker matches you mentioned.

Quality usually comes out in the end over a 3 set match. Tiebreaks are where the variance is. Saying this, its probably irrelevant as apart form the Davis Cup Final, there is no proper tennis now till Jan 4th  :'(

Yeah true. Thats a champions tiebreak where in certain doubles matches instead of a 3rd set they play a first to 10 points (which acts as a similar duration to maybe half a normal set).

I know a lot of you are going to be disappointed with this update, but we have pulled the stake again... I know its only £20 a man but gives us another free bullet incase this one goes down again!

Seems the right thing to do... In theory we've had all this banter for free so far... playing with the bookies money :)

That being said... we had a BR of £520.68, we have pulled £120 and are rolling tonight with £400.68 on Bayern Munich at 1.28. Im not sure if ive been closed down on the BFSB but they would not accept my bet... so we are on the exchanges and will be paying top rate of commision due to being small time punters!

We have already decided that once Bayern win (Positive Thinking) we are going to roll it onto Napoli who need to win tonight to qualify.

Killerskilsby - to answer your question, no the plan isnt to take a percentage out but to reach the goal... once we get to 5k we will split it. I think once we get to 500+ we will buy ourselves a free bullet like we have the last 2 times but that will be it... the ultimate goal is getting to the 5k... we all live in diff parts of the country and have already spoken on numerous occasions about all meeting up for the bet to take us to 5k :D

Use Smarkets almost all the time, only use Betfair on the rare occasions Smarkets don't have the market or don't have the liquidity. Big events like chelseaboy is punting on will always be fine.

I've had a look round and it does seem better than it was, but then I went to look into laying Zenit this afternoon and wasn't massively impressed

 

Fair enough with that example, although for chelseaboy it shows that Smarkets would be better than Betfair as not only is it lower commission it's better odds with more money available!

I think we were spoiled with our first run, getting up to 1k so quickly... we have got greedy on the last attempt and need to stick to the original plan and stay disciplined... short prices with a bit of research, not just punting blind on any 1/3 shot.
