Title: Day 2 - Walsall 300 freezeout
Post by: Djinn on June 26, 2005, 03:04:39 PM
The final 16 settling down to start in a few minutes.  After 2 hours sleep and a dash of rum most of the blonde contingent feeling less perky than yesterday, but Tikay escaped last night so is hopefully rested and ready to make the final.  We wish them all luck... (list of final 16 near the end on 300 freezeout thread)

Gl any remaining blondeites.

Also, good luck to Tom Burns. He'll be able to buy the Blues if he wins this one.

First casualty B. Callinan whose AK saw a flop against Steve Jelinek. The 8 J A flop looked promising, but when it was all-in on the turned 9 Jelinek's Q 10 had become a monster. His chips are now about 85000 (remember he was down to one lonely chip yesterday!)

Blinds 800 1600.

S. Smith doubled up after Jim Reid attempted a button blind steal, so I am told... 15 left.

P.S. I passed on the Good Luck to Tom Burns who asked "Is he here?" but seemed happy to hear from you - doing well after coming back today 2nd in chips

Unlucky Ben, but he's won a seat in the biggie in Vegas so he MUST still be smiling.

Post by: Djinn on June 26, 2005, 03:36:55 PM
Jackie Reardon (short stack) is not quite so short any more after a triple-up against S. Smith and Dave Smith - the latter's AK lost to her A10 after the flopped A was followed by a 10. She was all-in preflop though, and Dave's reraise got rid of the third player. She is now on about 18000.

RedDog - you are going to have to wait for tournament report to get the full dirt on the degenerate hotel-conference-room gambling and rum consumption... good news is an quite prepared to dish it.... Much fun however.  Less sleep than is ideal, so need full focus on the final 15 :)

Out in 15th is P. Granger, again taken down by Steve Jelinek, whose A10 put him in better shape than Granger's J10 on the 9 10 7 K board. The pairing 9 on the river made no difference whatsoever, and J's chips are seriously starting to stack up... I estimate 110000

Reddog,  Jo again!  As Jen said a full report will follow on last nights alcohol fuelled hotel tournaments .... but as a taster .... some quotes :

Jen to Malc:  "You're massive"

Malc to Jo "Why is 6,9 called The Big Lick?"

Rob to Ironside  "Told you I had gills"

I am surviving today on 2 hours sleep!

J

Dave Smith triples up calling V. Martin's button raise to 7000, also called by S Jelinek. On the 5 7 J flop he's all-in for only 3500 more, again two calls, and his J Q is good against V. Martin's AK and Steve's 7 8.

Tikay's fortunes are up and down: A big blind reraise with AK pushes him up to 32000, then the same hand outflops his 99 sending him back to 23000. Such is the nature of poker.

egg - not sure anybody's drunk yet, although some may still be from yesterday... There is word that some blondeite watchers are going to play a 10 rebuy tourney starting up soon. Perhaps updates, if anything really exciting happens over there.

Dan - sorry tourney appears to be kicking off right about now...

actionjack - sorry no shorts

There have been a few big split pots just now: Debbie Witcombe and V. Williams all-in on an A K Q 10 board - their Jacks split it (him:JJ her:JQ)

Threeway all-in on the other table: Flop QQK two diamonds. S.B. S. Smith immediately all-in, call all-in from Jackie R., little dwell and call of them both by Tom Burns. Burns on the nut flush draw, while the others' hands were both Q J. The shot at knocking them both out didn't come in though, and the blinds split the pot.

Oh, and Tikay seems to give up his blinds to Jackie on his left without too much of a fight ;)

MALCOLM HARWOOD V. MARTIN and JIM REID out!

Malcolm all-in with AKclubs, but he was up against V. Martin's JJ and also QQ and  no-one found any help. "In 90 mins, I found a pair of 7s, ran into Aces, then, next good hand - all-in." When asked if he'd only played two hands, he admitted to the occasional steal to last the hour and a half......

Hot on his heels, Jim Reid moves all-in preflop and is called by two players. His Q K find no help against 77 and 1010 (the tens making a set) and we are down to 11

TOM BURNS 10th place finisher--------

Tikay's second all-in (already!) finds Tom with A 9, and he calls all-in.  Tikay's pocket 9s put him in good shape, and the flop comes K 6 4 5 K.  After a good game, Tom Burns out, bringing final table to 9.

Just a note from Trevor - is actionjack around, because with 84000 chips she has a new nickname: ActionJackie!

Debbie Witcombe doubles up, as her all-in is reraised by Steve Jelinek to get it heads-up - turns out he has KK vs her AJ.  But the cards fall 4 A 8 4 2 giving her a much-needed boost.

Reasonable pots also taken by Dave Smith and Paul Fletcher.  Chips are moving around......

Title: Re: Day 2 - Walsall 300 freezeout
Post by: Djinn on June 26, 2005, 06:17:20 PM
STEVE JELINEK OUT IN 9th

His mid-position all-in bet puts Tikay into a dwell on the BB, which turns into a call with his AKspades.  He's racing Jelinek's 88, and the King on the flop sends him out in 9th, and gives Tikay a 30000 boost.

After a great second day, Steve had no final table luck, and they are down to 8

DEBBIE WITCOMBE OUT IN 8th

Tikay raises on the button, Debbie all-in on S.B. for 25000, which disperses early limper Dave Smith.
Tikay:  JJ
Debbie:  AQ             All cards on board come below 9 knocking her out.  She played a very good game (including an earlier fold of JJ on a 10-high flop, being shown AA by the other player as he took the pot) and now there are 7......

MICK FLETCHER OUT IN 7th

Big hand makes Mick Fletcher v. short - He moves all-in with AK off and is called by ActionJackie in the bb with AQhearts. The flop is 4 2 10, with the 2 being a heart, and she catches runner-runner hearts to flush out most of his chips.

Then he's all-in blind for 14500, finds A6d, but unluckily for him Viv Williams finds AK to call him with and this time it's good. Bit of hard luck, but he's out graciously in 7th, leaving 6.

STUART SMITH OUT IN 6th

It's Smith vs Smith as Stuart raises all-in on the button with A2, but finds Dave with pocket Jacks in the small blind. No Ace appears, and he is out in the very last hand before the break leaving 5 players. One of them is Tikay. More updated chip count in a sec

HUGE HAND TAKES OUT DAVE SMITH AND GREEK JACK in 4th and 5th respectively

Jackie raises utg to 20000, called by Dave Smith on the button. Then out of nowhere bb Greek Jack reraises all-in. Jackie calls, and Dave Smith decides to call also, leaving a little behind.

Flop 3h 8d 5h.

Jackie moves all-in, Dave calls.
Jackie shows AQ
Dave shows 99
Mr Dionysiou shows 10 10.

Turn A
River 3

Jackie has a huge chip lead, and a 'toilet break' has been arranged to discuss matters between the final three: Tikay, Jackie and Viv Williams

Soon as I saw that pic I passed. Jeez, WHAT a smile! And to accentuate her warm personality & toe curling smile, she was sat between Viv Williams, the pony tailed Welsh giant of a man, who resembles a gable end, and me.....some contrast, eh?

Far too tired to bore you with details tonight, but will give you the low down tomorrow.

Report to my office in the morning if not rectified by then.

And WHO is Mrs Lime? We know that "our Jen" - she's family now - was Harry Lime in the blonde Crypto tourney, so who's Mrs Lime. A man, methinks.....Damn!

And to all today's new Members - there are about a dozen I believe - welcome aboard, post now and then, & enjoy! Tune in if you want the Real Deal in Live Updates for the WSOP Main Event.

Ahha, that last pic is Greek jack, looking as smart & trim as ever, you'd never guess he is 76.

Poor Jack, usually such a busy player, had a really torrid time in the Fiinal, after being overnight Billy Big Stack, & hardly played a hand all day, losing the few he did. Jack's a Gent, one of the Notts Elite, and he took his ill fortune like a real man. Another victim of the Smiling Assassin.

But he DOES look smart, eh?

Ahh, The Gable End........

When Smiling Assassin was on the BB, the dapper Viv was on the Button. I counted 17 consecutive Button steals from Viv in 16 rounds. The Smile did not cut any ice with Viv, eh? has he must have a heart of stone. Viv finished runner-up, though due to a weird Gaming Board inspired anamoly, he was officially classified as third, even though the "deal" was conditional on him being second. He was second, fair and square.

STUNNING Pics Media, quite stunning.

Ive read everything hes ever written and to be honest his game fell to peices when he discovered god and got back with Lori. He seems to have lost sight of the fact that this game has given him his entire life. When he first started playing he went to Vegas with his last $2000 and won his first bracelet, if he had lost his buyin hed have been flat broke and having to start again. Get rid of the bloody complications in your life and get back to what you used to live for man.

Dunno Ian!

There WAS a reason for my anonymity in this case.

We did a 3 way chop. Party of the deal was the insistence that Jackie was shown as the winner, & Viv insisted (correctly) on being listed as second. But then we were told we had to play it out, as the Casino only pay out the official structure, & it has to be played to the death.

So it was chuck all the chips in time. me & Viv first, My 9-2 was dominated by his Q-9. I hit the 2. My 3-4 was way behind his A-J. I hit trips. Viv "officially" finished third.

The disclaimer forms had me as 2nd, I wanted it changed to 3rd, to honour my agreement with Viv. It was not possible. So I did not consent. It would have been wrong to sign for 2nd when we we had agreed Viv was second.

Then we had to sort the money, which we had to do amongst ourselves. We all gave our tickets (mine was for 6,200, as officially 2nd) to Trev Reardon, who went & collected the fat end of 20k from the Cash Desk, then we shared the spoils as agreed.

Yeah, i know mate i've done a couple of deals in there and what a pain it has become.
Did you know if you are overheard to suggest a deal you can be barred for the card room for 20 minutes or some such rubbish..................WHO'S MONEY IS IT???  ;D
Congrats to your good self and Jackie whom i spoke to Friday in the sat she won her seat in (also to my left when i was dealing, actually gave her a few good hands) and to Viv who was dealing my table in the Saturday sat.
