Title: There is no warning, the time is now.... Post by: TightEnd on December 07, 2016, 11:06:07 AM You suddenly find yourself on-stage for your own TED Talk.
With no prior planning, what's a topic you can discuss for 40 minutes? Title: Re: There is no warning, the time is now.... Post by: RED-DOG on December 07, 2016, 11:35:35 AM A bad beat from last night.
Title: Re: There is no warning, the time is now.... Post by: RED-DOG on December 07, 2016, 11:37:18 AM Can I tell you about it? It really is a good one.
Title: Re: There is no warning, the time is now.... Post by: Graham C on December 07, 2016, 11:38:48 AM I couldn't. I doubt I could do 10 minutes! I'm not a great talker.
Doug's TED talk in House of Lies would spring to mind Title: Re: There is no warning, the time is now.... Post by: TightEnd on December 07, 2016, 11:43:45 AM Can I tell you about it? Post by: Nakor on December 07, 2016, 12:12:15 PM Not exactly TED topics and they would need some jazzy titles but I think I could manage
Poultry Welfare Poultry Slaughter Halal Slaughter ITIL EU Food Labelling Regs Books of Dean Koontz/Raymond Feist Past that I would be struggling - no I wouldn't invite me to a Dinner party either. Title: Re: There is no warning, the time is now.... Post by: tikay on December 07, 2016, 12:14:19 PM Think I'd discuss how the internet has changed the world so dramatically, in almost every way, especially, for example, politics, & the excessive power of Social Media such as Twitter & Facebook.
How the internet is policed would be included, given that for the most part the internet seems to work outside of the law, especially as to libel. At present, anyone seems to be able to say anything on the internet, which breaches many laws as we know them. It changed the world, & did so very very quickly. Does it have to have the potential to get more than five views and two of those being relatives? If so, why sport matters. Title: Re: There is no warning, the time is now.... Post by: DaveShoelace on December 07, 2016, 11:22:03 PM I actually think I could knock out quite a few, basically because when I find a topic that interests me, I overdo it with the books and whatnot.
Reckon I could have a stab at: The evils of communism The Simpsons 1989-1998 How internet culture is making us all weaker and unhappier To a lesser extent: How men and women evolved to be so different yet complementary The differences between British and American comedy I could also knock out a presentation or two about the bestselling poker books The Mental Game of Poker 1 & 2, but bit of an unfair advantage there. Ditto the poker media which I have done presentations about. Title: Re: There is no warning, the time is now.... Post by: Tal on December 07, 2016, 11:38:46 PM What would the Simpsons one be about?
Presumably these talks aren't just information sharing presentations; more like thought-provoking ones? Title: Re: There is no warning, the time is now.... Yeah actually the Simpsons one I'll retract, got lost in the moment and picked it based on thinking I could answer questions for Mastermind on it. Title: Re: There is no warning, the time is now.... Has the internet really changed the political world? I think it just makes left leaning voters complacent because it is an echo chamber? If I read facebook I'd have wagered a lot on Miliband. I think social media has changed nothing personally. |
