So much of my musical history right here.
My old man had Hello and On the Level on vinyl and they were played constantly when I was young.
Pictures of Matchstick was "my" tune as a child. So much more then 3 chord wonders.
In 84 I was taken to Quo's "last gig" on the end of the road tour at the NEC, I was so excited I threw up all the way there (I was 9). It's my strongest memory of my childhood and spending time with Dad at that age.
I have seen them numerous times since with Dad and wife and seeing them on the Pyramid play to huge crowd in the sunshine is something I will never forget.

My world will miss Rick greatly. RIP
Living on a Island, waiting for my time to come.

Quo have always been a big guilty pleasure of mine - will actually miss this guy, thought he was so cool in the double denim.

Horrible news. He was very ill some time ago, then had a heart bypass op as I recall.

For those that enjoy that sort of thing, there is a cracking 1 hour TV Doc "Hello Quo", the whole Quo story, told mainly in interviews with Rick & Francis.

Went to see them last December in Glasgow with pizzled. Was never a fan but was surprisingly good.

RIP.

I was never really much of a Status Quo fan apart from the early "Matchstick Men" era that Adam mentioned but I did see them close-up c1970 when I was backstage with my dearly departed mate John Martyn and they opened the show for him at what must have been a pretty unglamourous university campus venue during one of their less popular spells.

I always admired Quo's durability and longevity in the music business - they seemed to be either completely in or completely out of fashion every few years - but never failed to bounce back.

RIP Rick Parfitt.

He had quadruple bypass surgery in the late 90s and two heart attacks in the naughties but he continued to drink and smoke heavily despite severe warnings from the doctors.
