Stars have completely lost the plot with their live events.

They've killed the goose that laid the golden eggs.

Using live events to promote their online business was a superb model, even if it meant running the various tours at about break even.

Now they are trying to maximise profit and the fields have been decimated.

10% rake plus 3% taken from the prize pool killed it for a lot of people.  Disgraceful on bigger buy in events plus aggressively asking for tips on cash out from my memory at the cash desk when you already left 3% behind before you start.   Suppose people have eventually voted with their feet as the cash grab got bigger and bigger.

To be fair. The 'festival' events are the same as the old ukipt/eureka/estrellas. I don't see anything has changed apart from the name and I don't see any extra recent money grab on this occassion. Now there are just less in Europe and they have a crap name.

Great move to hire Mr Duthie.

Party seem IMO to have a good start with their live things. They need to build a week festival around the main. Also multi currency in the client would help

It's funny, because Party Poker were the first to go down the "money grab" route, with fees for withdrawals, fees on dormant accounts and the like.

They seem to be the first to spot the gap in the market left by Stars and are having a crack at filling it.

Good luck to them.
