First hand, I think, brought a double up for Paul King whose  Qc Qd got all-in preflop action from  Ac Tc.  They held, and although it looks like he's only got a few chips, what they lack in number they make up for in denomination.

Hi Ghengis - you're up and posting.  Easy isn't it?  We're going to take turns investigating some interesting early hands, but it's pretty quiet as yet.  Fairly slow, with 45 minute levels (structure to follow).  So we're only at 25 - 50 and with a Double Chance of 5,000 chips per chance, there may be some early fireworks but no casualties.

Then, a few hands later, Barry pushes a flopped flush draw and the same lady calls. All she holds is a pair of queens on a king high flop. No flush arrives and Barry is out. He looks like a bulldog chewing a wasp on a nettle at the moment.

Thanks, Dewi - sorry for quiet moment (they all got a five minute break as the last second chances were taken) and wouldn't you know it - that's when our hour's connection ran out.  Snoopy is off getting chip counts which are actually relevant now (they've had their lot and now have to fight over whatever's on the table). 

Red Dog gets an honourable mention for trying to get a new fuse for Tikay's defunct-looking laptop power cord in his break - how helpful is that?  We'll figure something out, but for now you get both of us in turns on my name.  At this point it's info-gathering for him and crow's nest type overseeing the card room for me.

Hi Will!  Good to hear from you!  There were 106 runners, at £500 buy-in apiece.  Only a handful have dropped at this early stage, but Snoops is bringing some counts.   All the chips seem to be very close in colour (they range from green to green to blue to purple) so please be patient with the eye-straining counting...

Ian Woodley doubles up (or nearly - he took out the lady player he was up against, who was, according to Snoopy the player responsible for the early demise of Barry Neville):

I saw all the chips in the middle on the board of  9c 4c Qs.  Ian showed  9d 9h for the middle set, and he was up against  4s 4h for the unfortunate underset.  So he's quite comfortably around 20,000.

Tikay said he got one of those pleasing little rushes of cards in the last level (he's been moved to what Snoops calls the TV table next to Carlo and M3Boy).  He saw AK, KK, AK again, but the last time he ran into Joe Grech's  3c 6c.  He hit the Ace, but Joe called him down to get there (flush) on the river and take away all that hard won profit.  He's still in isn't he??  Honestly, the complaining...  But it looks like that table is quite a bit of fun, actually.

How many players left Jen - are they aiming to get down to 30 ?

Chili's breathing space 3k came after a much needed double up with KJ - down to just 1,800 she raised to 800 preflop and spiked a Jack.  Her opponent decided to put the rest of her chips in with A10, but the flop's help stayed good and she can relax a bit.  But she's at it again!  All-in on the button picks up the blinds and she shows  Aspades...

Tikay loses another neighbour - Carlo is OUT after Adrian (below centre) clashed with him on a raggy flop with two hearts.  Carlo pushed all-in for 8k over the bet of 1,500 on the flop, and may not have wanted to show  9d Td (so says Tikay) while Adrian's  Ahrt Qh hit the third heart on the turn to eliminate him before this second break.

Hi Ian - Julian is looking comfy - but Paul King is OUT.  "Anyone want to hear a bad beat?" he says, cheerfully approaching Update Corner....

(To summarise: AA vs 10 10.  The Aces were Paul's.)  Matey raised to 1,000, Paul re-raised to 4,000.  His opponent moved in for the full 10k - call! 

The board brought four little hearts, and guess what?  One of those tens was a heart, and neither of the Aces was that suit.  So Paul's recent run of successes (not to mention his Mrs') gets a bit of a hiccup tonight but he's still in good spirits.

I must report the erosion of Tikay's stack - I think it's around 5,000 now after what sounded like an AQ vs AJ run-in where the flop came Jack-high and he ditched the preflop favourite having cut loose a chunk of chips on it.  But he's still in, and as Chili is proving (saw her take down two of the last 5 hands) all you need is a chip or two.  She's hovering around the 4 - 5k mark too, though.

Minutes after Burnley John exits with Q10 vs QK on a Queen-high flop, Lawrence Gosney is OUT too...

After a bit of self-flagellation earlier over folding a big hand in a funny situation, Lawrence's stack yo-yoed impressively until this final confrontation which he had with the Under The Gun player who was on his right.  The UTG guy had  Aspades Qd, while Lawrence had  9d 9s.  The board brought the  Ad straight away and Tikay loses ANOTHER neighbour... 

This photo probably won't make me terribly popular with Mr. Gosney at this point, but it's funny so it's going on.

Yes Tikay has dwindled right down to less than 4k, and with the buffet break looming he's starting to have to make some moves like that if he wants to come back afterwards with any chips... but he's got Joe Grech's big blind to have a go at when he's on the button, so who knows what's going to happen.  It's been quite fun just standing by that table watching Chili and Tikay take shots at double ups, although the pace isn't exactly breakneck anywhere...

There are about 54 players remaining, so we've nearly halved the field.  People KEEP asking me for sandwiches.  I think it's the notepad.

Told you the buffet queue would be a fascinating one.... anyway, they are back in their seats, but with the blinds at 600 - 1,200 quite a few of them won't be there for all that long.  Or they'll get a more useful size of stack.  Depends whether you're a glass-half-empty sort of person.  In any case, Snoops is hovering around Tikay whose stack dictates that something interesting will happen soon.

Had a chat with Chili in the break (she bought me a drink, hoorah!) and she's at a higher chip point than most of the evening, although has yet to get one of those purple 5,000s.  All in good time...

dan - Julian 'Yoyo' Thew - 24,000.  A little down from the stacks of an hour or so ago, but still in good shape, with under 50 remaining, that's about average.

Well right at the end of the night Julian has just taken off!  And those who have been struggling on tiny stacks have had a double up or two.  We are barely able to keep up with his accumulation... word has drifted of another flop of 10 J Q which his K9 hit square on, and which would have gained him even more if a scary 9 hadn't come on the turn....

Google's so far only come up with one of a tortoise playing a banjo like it's a double bass, which is actually a bit frightening so maybe we shouldn't have that one, small children might be watching. I'll keep looking though...

I exited with 26k on the BB (2k). Standard 6k raise by mateyboy.
