Title: Cherry Seed poisoning Post by: Doobs on July 28, 2017, 12:12:01 AM Who knew?

Apparently apple seeds have cyanide in two, and I am sure I have eaten plenty of them over the years. Apparently you have to grind them up and eat plenty to do damage. I've seen reference to it with regard to juicing - as the apple pips get juiced in the process (although bigger stones, such as cherries, plums, etc would typically be removed for the health of the juicing machine, if nothing else). Typical juice recipes might use 1 or 2 apples in them, so effectively include the contents of all the seeds. You'd need to consume significantly more than this before it became a factor. Slightly different to voluntarily eating 3 cherry seeds out of curiousity though!! |
