Title: Ronnie to walk out, or face disqualification? Post by: tikay on October 18, 2017, 10:32:52 AM Not sure if anyone has been watching the English Open Snooker, but Ronnie O'Sullivan was, intermittently, at his very showboating best last night in one frame.
The 2nd frame was "dead" & Ronnie was on a redundant clear up, if you can find it on You Tube well worth a look. His shot from yellow to green, off more cushions than I cared to count, & pink to black, were breathtaking. Anyway, never mind that. He sprained his angle whilst out jogging, & so he went to the Sheffield United Medics - he knows them, apparently - & they put all sorts of bandages & wrapping on it, such that he claims he could not get his shoes on. So he wore trainers instead. (http://i.imgur.com/qhQoVjd.png) (https://imgur.com/qhQoVjd) Title: Re: Ronnie to walk out, or face disqualification? Post by: tikay on October 18, 2017, 10:38:15 AM Now, the Media is saying that World Snooker people are saying he has to wear black trainers, or face disqualification. And, Ronnie being Ronnie, is tempted to say "suit yourself, I'm off". Now I have no idea if Ronnie is being wholly truthful here. And it's good that the Snooker authorities insist on a little decorum as to apparel - but surely common-sense should apply if there are genuine mitigating circumstances? Back in the day, of course, several players - Alex Higgins to start with - abused the rule of course, claiming medical reasons why he could not wear a tie. Ronnie is the most amazing snooker player ever born, & there'll never be another like him. Be a shame to lose precious moments of watching a (flawed) genius over such a trivial issue. Where do you draw the line, where does trivial end and serious start? Title: Re: Ronnie to walk out, or face disqualification? Post by: tikay on October 18, 2017, 11:03:30 AM Answer me this then. Where do you draw the line, where does trivial end and serious start? Well if he tried to play in shorts, or with his shirt open to the navel. Title: Re: Ronnie to walk out, or face disqualification?
