The Chess Bloke Stage

(Organised by Tal Eavis)

1. The Beatles

The greatest band of all time. Inspired generations. A factory of catchy tunes. Likely to finish with a Hey Jude/Let it Be/All You Need is Love medley.

2. Michael Jackson

The King of Pop.

60s and 70s of the Beatles leads us to the 80s and 90s. Who wouldn't want to see this?

We will of course see some Smooth Criminal and Thriller for the crowdpleasing moments. I'd like to see Stranger in Moscow (a personal fave).

His last number will be a song originally written as a duet with the next act. "Your butt is mine..."

3. Prince.

It's a hard act to follow, but Mr Nelson should manage it.

Support group will be the Revolution. It is a very male line up on the Chess Bloke Stage, and the Revolution happen to be my favourite of his groups. Wendy and Lisa ftw.

Set would feature whatever he wanted to play. I'd politely request I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man. Bound to be some guest appearances.

4. Prodigy

A change of direction is needed as the sun comes down.

Starting as a rave act, they've moved with the times. Britain's most important electronic dance music band. 1997's  Fat of the Land came at a time when everything was guitar bands and Britpop. The best live act still going. Their energy remains astonishing and their music seems more charged than ever.

Had the pleasure of being there for this in 2010.

5. Oasis

Exhausted? You need to leave with a song in your heart. We started with the Beatles and we finish with our headline act.

United again at long last. Parkas not optional.

All boxes checked. Even Paul Weller playing on Champagne Supernova. Anthemic performance which caters your weary legs; you can hug the person next to you and sway side to side as you "Soooooooo Sally can wait..." and "Whatever I choose so I'll sing the blues if I want" as much as you like.

Tickets going for a fortune.
