Title: Is greyhound racing cruel?
Post by: bergeroo on November 17, 2017, 12:35:19 PM
Suggested going to the dogs recently and a number of people wouldn't go because they said it was cruel. I don't really have any knowledge or a opinion either way. What do the posters of Blonde think?

People talk such bollocks.

No offence.

I totally agree. Probably including myself.  But I still can't get people to come to the dogs with me...

Tell them if they don't go you'll murder a kitten.

I don't think the actual sport is cruel, but during my years following the sport there have been a disproportionately large number of people connected to dog racing found guilty of cruelty to animals. Usually neglect or giving dogs live kills.

I do think it is a great deal cleaner now than 20 years ago though.

What becomes of the common or garden graders when their racing careers are over is my main cruelty concern - there are some horrific stories about what happens to them.

I can't see anything wrong with greyhound racing per se.
