I am about to attempt to install a video card in my computer to support using dual monitors.

I have a philips head screwdriver, a regular screwdriver, lots of wires and an intimidating piece of harware with lots of fancy looking bits.

I do not, however, have a Scooby what I'm doing.

There is a possibility that it all might go horribly wrong and I'll somehow manage to delete the internet, hence the title of this thread.

Tank, When in these situations you must always...always.....always cut the red wire with about 0.03 seconds left. This will get you the girl and save the world. It may not get you a dual monitor fully functional internet though. Let us know how you get on, or, should it all go wrong , I have enjoyed your contributions to the forum. :D

On a more serious note always keep a finger inserted in your left ear to avoid static electricity damaging the very sensitive electronic parts in a modern day computer.

I'm still here. Got the laptop out to let y'all know that it's going ok, just very slowly and methodically.
Newmanseye gave me a phone to let me know that y'all were concerned.

Unplugged the computer took the side off, it looked scary so I re-plugged the computer to look at the instructions.

Unplugged it again, still too scary. So plugged it in again and set up my printer so I could have a hard copy of the instructions.

I'm getting very good at unplugging and re-plugging the computer now.

I'm about to make the critical incision. It's hard without a nurse present. (You can let this one go Kev)

Turns out I've got to take the old video card out first. Now we're cooking with gas.

When the side panel of your computer, that you had safely propped up against a seat, suddenly decides that it wants to slip down onto your wood floor and make a very loud bang it is somewhat disconcerting to your efforts at precision engineering.

Tank, Sweety, it is one of the easier tasks you can do pc wise, so be brave, take a deep breath and get stuck in   ;slavedriver;

Remember to uninstall your old graphics card drivers before you install the new card, to stop any conflicts. Then whip out the old card, pop the new one in (make sure it's pushed in all the way), hook it all back up, install new drivers and Robert's your Mothers brother  ;goodluck;

I'll go try to uninstall the old graphics card drivers now and hopefully that'll sort everything  :D

Well, I've got Pokerstars working and since have become somewhat distracted.

The dual monitor thingy semi-works. I just need to iron out a couple of problems. Will phone their support line in the morning.
