Now at this point I am sure he has a pair but not sure how big because previously he has initially raised bigger amounts when he has been first to act on a pot.(these raises went uncontested)

 What to do?

3845 to call for 8445 in the pot already. You're getting more than 2-1. You have to call.

I agree with Nohomer.
You cannot do anything other than call here, and even if you lose, you still have quite a few chips left.

yeah you have to call. not only because of pot odds. but because you're up against what is probably a desperate short stack who knows he won't be able to get back into the tournament without a big pot or big steal. you'd still have about 10k in chips if you you're up against KK or AA.
then again you should be taking the type of player you're up against into account also. but chances are you're up against AQ or JJ or something.

Thanks guys,I knew the pot odds were right, I was trying to decide wether he had kings/aces or not..

Anyway I called..He turns over pair of 8's

I caught a king on the flop and no help for him.

I just wasn't sure about his pair.....I didn't think he would risk his tournament on a medium pair

In a situation like this, the chances of him having AA or KK are unlikely because you're already holding one of each. With bigger chips stacks and/or smaller blinds the case for laying it down grows.

Over a range of hands AKS cannot be enough of a dog to justify a fold here its a mandatory call.
