Title: Re: Vegas Accommodation Post by: AlrightJack on June 27, 2005, 01:02:47 PM I have a potential place at the Gold Coast? Any good?
BTW, I'm not going to play the big one, unless i win a sat out there. Title: Re: Vegas Accommodation Post by: Karabiner on June 27, 2005, 01:07:34 PM I believe it(the gold coast) was recommended by fat jac, whatever that means.
Check out www.cheapovegas.com I found it very useful. Title: Re: Vegas Accommodation Post by: womble on June 27, 2005, 02:53:23 PM Jonathan
So many factors to take into account for choice of accommodation. Initially 1) How much do you want to spend? - My personal favourite is The Bellagio, you are paying top dollar but the service is second to none. On a budget The Orleans is great value but is remote from the Strip (so if you fancy a walk through the bright lights, watching the free shows etc. you are comitted to a taxi there and back). The Gold Coast is next to the Rio (note in Vegas next to can equate to a mile away) and so will be ideal if you are playing in the Series. Never stayed myself but I believe the rooms are typical Vegas 3* standard. 2) Do you plan to play mostly tournaments, cash or both? - The question here is significant if you are intent an playing cash games. It helps to be staying in the Casino in which you intend to play. The rationale relates to a combination of the UK body clock (you will find yourself waking about 4.00am the first week) and this is often the best time to play. You will find games that have been running from the night before with over-tired, often drunk players and even better off-duty dealers, ripe for the picking. Also when you have adjusted to the time-zone and you have just completed a twelve hour session at the table it is wondeful to wander to the elevator and be in your room within ten minutes. The choice of Hotel also depends on what cash games do you intend to play and at what limits. Once again my personal favourite is The Bellagio, only because they run the best game on the planet $20/40 hi-lo with a half kill starts up every morning around 10.30am and is the perfect combination of 3/4 Vegas pro's and a regular succession of home game hold em players prepared to loose a few buck whilst on vacation. If $20/40 is a little rich I am reliably informed that the Mirage hosts a $5/10 hi-lo that is very soft. Again similar to the room rates at lower levels there is a tremendous selection of games at The Orleans from $2/4 upwards. The Orleans has the added benefit of two tournaments daily (one afternoon and one evening) from $20 buy-in up to $200 buy-in. Mostly hold-em a mix of limit and no-limit with the odd hi-lo thrown in. There are plenty of other Hotels with Poker Rooms, but I would suggest the above mentioned are the best. Albeit I hav not been out for 8 months and a lot may have changed. I believe no-limit cash games have grown enormously in the past few months. Ultimately the deciding factor must be that a number of the Blonde Forumites are staying at The Orleans. And once the Cards are out of the way you are gonna want to party and you may as well party with the best. Look forward to seeing you out there, wherever you decide to stay. womble Title: Re: Vegas Accommodation Post by: AlrightJack on June 27, 2005, 04:12:36 PM Thanks for the advice womble. My trip still depends of course on being able to book time off work at such short notice. Have put a request in, just waiting on the response.

Also I understand Golden Nugget have some good deals if you want to be downtown. By the way RU going to Brighton-- ? Excellent Blue Square qualifier last week for the main event--750 f/o.. Even more excellent cos I won it! LOL Does that mean I have to wear Blue Square over my P4C shirt?? Title: Re: Vegas Accommodation Post by: AlrightJack on June 28, 2005, 04:51:35 PM Yes, definitely playing but not in the big one (unless I get another good touch before then). Targetting Event 43 ($1,500 No Limit) as the most likely source of my first WSOP bracelet. Think it will go quite nicely with my P4C wristband.
Title: Re: Vegas Accommodation Post by: Malc-M on June 28, 2005, 09:53:38 PM Nice 1 Jonathon
Look forward to the photos with the WSOP bracelet next to the P4C-Game4Life band-- GL Mate Malc-M Title: Re: Vegas Accommodation Post by: AlrightJack on June 29, 2005, 11:28:29 AM Booked.

Sorry you can't make it, but you are not alone, it's only the really lucky ones that can get over to Vegas. But tune in to our Live Updates, that's the next best thing, & it will be the next best thing to actually being there. We are gonna have fun, & we will follow all the blondeites. Hope you can tune in & be part of the action, I really do. Title: Re: Vegas Accommodation Post by: RED-DOG on June 30, 2005, 03:11:49 AM It WILL be the next best thing to being there, I will be with you all the way, I know blonde will have the best live updates (we already have the best reports to come out of Vegas) and whats more I can comment or ask questions, and it's all free, not pay per view.
Good luck to you all, and Thank you. Title: Re: Vegas Accommodation Post by: tikay on June 30, 2005, 03:15:26 AM "All Free, & not Pay Per View"......
Ahh, I been meaning to discuss that with you Tom. It's FREE to folks who can play, if you get my drift. Title: Re: Vegas Accommodation Post by: ifm on June 30, 2005, 05:32:34 AM It's FREE to folks who can play, if you get my drift. bugger Title: Re: Vegas Accommodation Post by: tikay on June 30, 2005, 01:38:55 PM Tom was supposed to say that. You do a great impression of him though. Title: Re: Vegas Accommodation Post by: The_Ant on June 30, 2005, 09:05:18 PM Quote But tune in to our Live Updates, that's the next best thing, & it will be the next best thing to actually being there. We are gonna have fun, & we will follow all the blondeites. Hope you can tune in & be part of the action, I really do. Hi Tikay Your live updates are superb, have spent many an hour following updates from all over the place. The forum is excellent in general. I'm gonna be out of the country while the "main event" is taking place so will have to check for the latest updates in the old internet cafs. Good luck to all of you playing out there, wouldn't it be amazing if a blonde one, won the big one! Title: Re: Vegas Accommodation Post by: ifm on June 30, 2005, 09:16:42 PM Do you think it should be stipulated that if a blondeite wins the biggie he/she has to mention this place in every interview thereafter?
Title: Re: Vegas Accommodation Post by: ariston on June 30, 2005, 09:20:19 PM If I win it my interview will be a mix of betfair and blonde. See how many times you can get it into every interview lol.
Title: Re: Vegas Accommodation Post by: tikay on June 30, 2005, 09:25:05 PM I will talk about Trains.
Title: Re: Vegas Accommodation Post by: AlrightJack on June 30, 2005, 10:56:54 PM You playing it Tony?
Title: Re: Vegas Accommodation Post by: ariston on June 30, 2005, 10:57:30 PM Of course he will be.
Title: Re: Vegas Accommodation Post by: tikay on June 30, 2005, 11:21:18 PM No JR, have finally decided against it. I have a lot of responsibiility on my shoulders to make sure the Live Updates go well. If I played the biggie, I would have one half of my mind on the Live Updates.
But shed no tears for tikay, I just wanna do the job properly, & I am going to thoroughly enjoy sweating all our boys, & interacting with the folks back in the UK who will be wanting to know how their buds & fellow blondeites are shaping up. My decision, & I'm comfy with it. Might cringe a bit when they say "shuffle up & deal", but there's worse things in life. Our Forum sponsors & Partners for July, Poker 425, have spent a fortune one way & another - they have a big marketing spend planned for the Poker 425 blonde Forum WSOP Live Updates, in the Racing Post, starting Saturday, and but for their financial assistance, we could not afford to do it properly. But a big BIG thanks to all the guys who have tried to persuade me to play, led by Ariston, & offered to play sats & the like on my behalf. It mean't a great deal to me. But there's always a sliver lining. I am bringing an assistant with me to help with the Live Updates - that's not cheap either - and I KNOW you will be pleased when you know who THAT is. Watch this space. And STOP PRESS - news has come through today that I have a very high profile sponsor for one of the WSOP Events - the $1,500 NLH on Monday week. Details to follow, but safe to say I'm proud as punch, & made up. And I may now just spoil myself, & play either the Paris WPT - that would be a dream come true for me, playing a WPT Event, more so than the WSOP biggie - or the Biggie at The Vic in early August. Everyone's a winner. I'm a happy chappie. Title: Re: Vegas Accommodation Post by: Robert HM on June 30, 2005, 11:33:25 PM Congratulations Tikay!
Title: Re: Vegas Accommodation Post by: RED-DOG on June 30, 2005, 11:36:04 PM ARRRRGGGGHHH, he knows I cant stand cliff-hangers
Title: Re: Vegas Accommodation Post by: AlrightJack on July 01, 2005, 12:11:00 AM Well, after touching down on Wednesday afternoon in Vegas I intend to go to the Tribeca eve of biggie cocktail reception with Doyle Brunson and Mike Caro due to be in attendence. Then have to make a decision about whether to stay on for the formal dinner at the Palms I think or head for the Rio for the last chance biggie satellite. Decisions decisions.
Title: Re: Vegas Accommodation Post by: tikay on July 01, 2005, 12:23:03 AM Poker 425 have an invite to the Doyle Brunson "do", but I don't fancy our chances of an interview. Still, you never know........ I mean, has he ever won owt? Title: Re: Vegas Accommodation Post by: AlrightJack on July 01, 2005, 12:33:23 AM lol, dunno, i heard he's written some kind of book though. btw, if you have a copy of SS2, check out page 104, hehe.
