Title: Live game QQ hand, what would you do? Post by: yt on February 07, 2006, 12:34:45 PM Live game 3 tables left, top 9 paid, 1k for first. Chip leader must have 50k. I have 12k, ave is 18k i guess(it was late!). Blinds 500/1000.
Im on the button with Qh Qd . Lovely Lady in MP puts in a min raise to 2k. She has me covered. I raise to 6k total. SB/BB fold, Lovely Lady in MP calls the 4k Flop Aspades Ts 2s She pauses for 15 secs or so and goes all in. What do you do? Would you make the 6k raise preflop or Fold/Call/All in. Im new to the table and only seen her play one hand which she won and never showed. Its also a game by jennings poker school in a golf club so some players are total beginners/golfer having fun. I'm not sure if she falls into this category at the time. She looked clued up to me anyway. And very pretty. Title: Re: Live game QQ hand, what would you do? Post by: lazaroonie on February 07, 2006, 12:41:49 PM I am of the opinion that with QQ you want to get your chips in first. There arent to my mind many flops where you are likely to be able to outplay opponents.
I would have got them all in pre-flop and if she called then fair enough. In your situation I dont know how many chips the lovely lady has. I think I have to call though - Irrespective of the odds, its unlikely you are going to find many better positions to accumulate chips with only 4 rounds left. There arent to my mind many flops where you are likely to be able to outplay opponents. She had me covered. My lack of info on her made me decide to raise to 6k rather than 12k all in. I was expecting a fold or Reraise back from her certainly not a call. I would have got them all in pre-flop and if she called then fair enough. and yt, saying "lovely lady" ain't that helpful!! That said, you know very little about her. Got to give her every chance to pass. If she calls and turns over AA/KK/AK so be it. If she overvalues AJ and calls and hits the A, you've done nothing wrong. If she has a smaller pair, you are in great shape Title: Re: Live game QQ hand, what would you do? As it turns out she does overvalue a weak Ace as this is what she showed. Her all in bet was most excellent so hats off to her. If I had the Queen of spades my chips were in like a shot but I had two red ones. I had a quick count of me chips 6k left. 6 Big blinds. I folded face up and got ooohs and ahhh from my adoring fans (well crowd of golfing types!). She showed Ac. I made a stand soon after with TJs and trebled up. then worked my way to the final table with average chips, finished 6th for £170. It was the QQ hand that bothered me but with fish overvaluing their weak aces QQ seems to be my downfall all the time. I guess thats why I played this one differently. She sure was lovely. Eastern European looking. Dark Hair. oh and she crashed out soon after making a range of weak calls and ending up short stacked. Title: Re: Live game QQ hand, what would you do? Title: Re: Live game QQ hand, what would you do? Post by: AndrewT on February 07, 2006, 02:37:18 PM yt, out of interest, what would you have done if the flop was Ks Ts 2s and she went all-in?

Bloody good question. As she never reraised me I got to assume no AA KK AK. So I guess I would call..... but saying that me not having the Qs is the killer. Her all in to my preflop reraise is a great move so I gotta respect it. In that tourny same situation I would fold. Any other touney Ive played in i would call and normally lose.If tightends right and general opinion would also say go all in preflop then im losing to any ace on that flop (but at least I would see the turn/river pros/cons etc etc). I'm just glad i got away from it with enough to live again. crappy flop. Title: Re: Live game QQ hand, what would you do? Post by: yt on February 07, 2006, 02:50:34 PM and on a Js Ts 2s flop I'm calling. I don't believe she'd go all in first with a made flush or trips, she'd let me hang myself.
I'm bothered by the A or the K more than the spades. Undercards on the flop it's going in. |
