Title: Football Post by: RED-DOG on May 18, 2019, 09:32:30 AM This is probably a stupid question but what rules would be broken if one player got the ball and then his team-mates formed a hands on shoulders circle around him and they all marched into the opposition goal?

Title: Re: Football Post by: Karabiner on May 18, 2019, 10:37:46 AM I think that's fine at American "football", although I'm not exactly sure what rule covers this situation in the beautiful game.
Title: Re: Football Post by: Ironside on May 18, 2019, 10:48:45 AM Obstruction?
Title: Re: Football Post by: RED-DOG on May 18, 2019, 10:54:02 AM Obstruction? I don't know Iron. All players have a right to their position on the field of play; being in the way of an opponent is not the same as moving into the way of an opponent. Title: Re: Football Post by: Rod Paradise on May 18, 2019, 11:49:52 AM Obstruction? This, and the good old referee's get out, ungentlemanly conduct. Title: Re: Football Post by: Tal on May 18, 2019, 12:49:46 PM I had a similar thought about doing a rugby lineout lift for a player at a corner for him to head it in.
Title: Re: Football Post by: Jamier-Host on May 18, 2019, 02:12:09 PM Drifting off topic, but we used to do penalty “moves” in schoolboy rugby where you concealed the location of the ball until the last moment with multiple runners off a wall of several players with their backs to the opposition.
Never seen it happen in a senior amateur game, but seem to remember seeing a few random appearances in pro matches. Obv not very fashionable though. Sol Campbell 'scored' in a similar way against Argentina in France '98 - used Shearer (I think) to climb higher, disallowed as not allowed to climb on any player to gain height, opposition or teammate. Your scenario might not be covered by this I guess... |
