I know most of ya will be in vegas but sadly didn't win me seat :(  and with Declan would have been hard to go over there anyways


.... but will be down Brighton for just about all events  ,   whos going :) 

Haqving got my membership card through the post at the end of alst week I will be there I hope, not sure when or for what but will be there.

It's looking very likely I'll be there Mel, the freezeout in the 7th I think

Any ideas on good hotels?

Theres a hotel in the marina literally next door but I think its 130 a night
If you ring up Rendevous Casino and speak to marketing dept they will tell you as they'll have an offer for hotels

Best value in Brighton - as in Blackpool - are the B & B's. Cheap & cheerful, but it's a seaside jobbie, & they are OK.

There is a possibility - thats'll all at the mo - that blonde will do a Live Update, via Jen. We will let you know.

What's the tournament structure like down by the seaside? Starting Chips? Clock? Any funny rules 1 should be aware of?

Also, am I wrong in thinking a double chance tourney is 1 rebuy allowed?

Yup a "Double chance" is a freezeout but with 2x starting chips available.. So normally any time during first couple of levels you can elect to take a second load of chips at no extra cost or if not taken by the end of the second level you get them automatically at the end of the period-- It is not a rebuy..

So when is the best time to take the second lot?

depends if you travel all day to get there and worried about someone playing Kj sucking out best to wait till you lose 50% of your stack

but normally its best to take the full whack off the batt

Ironside --I still reckon its often best to wait till after the first level at least-- It does depend on the table and who else decides to take the extra chips early but I reckon using it as a true "second chance" makes some sense so normally I play these like a freezeout but a little looser and then if you do run into Acces with your Kings then all is not totally lost..

Strange thing but i have NEVER been on a table where it was taken straight away, i have only played 3 or 4 but still...........
Personally i think it's best to leave it till you need it, if you get a bad beat you're still in, Simple logic methinks.

I prefer to take it straight away depending on the table lineup. I play a bigstack far better than an average stack and I like everybody to know if they tangle with me I am having all their stack. This also allows players to gamble with me thinking theyl still have half their chips to come or a second life if you will.I prefer to know in a comp that I dont have another chance, If I lose my chips I am out- helps focus the mind.

Finally got a hotel sorted out for Brighton. 

This will be my (and two other players who will be there with me) first sponsored event.  Needless to say we're pretty excited and hope we can do our sponsors proud.   ;D

Likewise MrMoves, all booked in. I believe Andy is divvying up the readies today!

If you take the second stack straight away, they may forget and let you have another stack later.

MrMoves has asked me to reply as he is snowed under with work. Myself (Tony), MrMoves (Paul) and Skyfella (Andy) (not a Blondeite...yet) are three poker players who met playing in Vilnius at the Tony G Invitational in April and resolved to do a bit of touring so we created The Sterling Cartel (www.thesterlingcartel.com). We have just signed up a sponsorship deal with London Poker Club who are paying our entries into the 300 event on Thursday 7th July.

So, the answer is no, MrMoves did not qualify through VC. More details about us are on our website.

......talking of Brighton, why are these poker rooms so part time? I spoke by phone to the guy at the cash desk at Brighton Rendezvous only yesterday saying that three of us want to register and pay. We decided it would be better if one of us made a trek down and got it all sorted in person as there was business riding on it for us. Fine, he says, just roll up. Today Andy gets down there having trolled over from the other side of Kent to find that no-one there has the authority to register anyone until a card room guy gets in at 6pm!

1.  Why was this not told to me on the phone to save a long trip?

2   Why is there no-one competent to do a basic task like this at any time (is this not a big business they are running with customer service a priority? Can you imagine such a nonsense in the USA?).

Sheffield was just as bad getting registered long distance. It's high time these casinos started realising they are in a big industry now, not still running shady gambling dens at the dead of night.

The staff in the CardRoom at Brighton Rendezvous are great guys, well helpful. The staff behind the Cash Desk, meanwhile, are, shall we say, still awaiting their Customer Care Training.........

Brighton is usually (don't know about at thiis fessie) self-deal, but the punters are a great bunch, & it's all good natured stuff, plenty of laughs.

I think there are dealers for the two bigger tournaments, Tikay.

Thanks Tikay. Update on Brighton. I just spoke to Sharon at the cash desk who was very surprised that Andy was turned away as she has herself been there for bookings since 1pm. Someone at reception is not well-informed........!

The 300 and 750 tourneys are both dealer supplied according to the Rendezvous leaflet I have here.

Update no. 2. Paul just spoke to a card room guy. Cannot pay until 6pm is apparently right.

Do you know, we all registered for the Tony G Invitational in Vilnius, Lithuania ON-LINE, had someone else register for us and paid on arrival knowing we were in.

In the UK, well, it is a system not worthy of a banana republic, I don't care how nice the staff are.
