Title: Reverse Sheep Quiz: Lockdown Edition 2 Post by: Cf on April 08, 2020, 05:30:06 PM 10 questions.
No google or other research. Score for each question is amount of people who gave the same correct answer. Similar answers may be grouped together where appropriate. Lowest score wins. Wrong answer? Lots of points. (For nerds: highest scoring correct answer + half rounded up of unique correct answers) You get 1 pass - you will score 0 for that question. If you don't use it and still win then you can feel really proud of yourself. PM me your answers. Reveal: Tuesday 14th April at 8pm 1. An MP who has spoke at a daily coronavirus briefing (you know the ones I mean) 2. A television programme presented by Noel Edmonds 3. Title: Re: Reverse Sheep Quiz: Lockdown Edition 2 Post by: KarmaDope on April 15, 2020, 09:32:45 AM cf, I'd say not the best idea for me to run one. My idea of questions is a little eclectic...but if nobody wants to run one then I'll find one.
Anyone else want to step up to the plate? Title: Re: Reverse Sheep Quiz: Lockdown Edition 2 Post by: scotty2hatty on April 15, 2020, 10:27:44 AM .
Title: Re: Reverse Sheep Quiz: Lockdown Edition 2 Post by: MintTrav on April 15, 2020, 10:28:17 AM If you ask a vague question, you can't insist on narrowly-defined answers. If you are going to insist on such answers, you need to ask tight questions. "A human sense" doesn't specify that it has to be a physical sense. Humans have many other senses. The Cambridge Dictionary gives some examples: sense of urgency sense of fun sense of humour sense of occasion sense of right and wrong sense of togetherness sense of betrayal sense of responsibility sense of despair https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/sense If you had specified that it had to be a physical sense, I would have directed you to an article in The New Scientist entitled "Sense of justice discovered in the brain", but you didn't, so any of the human senses above are valid answers, as is sense of justice. https://www.newscientist.com/article/dn10239-sense-of-justice-discovered-in-the-brain/ Thank you. If you can substitute the word ‘feeling’ for sense then it’s not a sense. Perfectly wrong - that is exactly one of the definitions in the dictionary. Did you even look at the link? sense noun B2 - an ability to understand, recognize, value, or react to something, especially any of the five physical abilities to see, hear, smell, taste, and feel: B1 - a general feeling or understanding Title: Re: Reverse Sheep Quiz: Lockdown Edition 2 Post by: Ironside on April 15, 2020, 01:16:35 PM cf, I'd say not the best idea for me to run one. I'm calling FARCE.... it is well documented that people with synthesia can sense colours when listening to music!!! I therefore conclude it is a human sense! Get my ace up. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromesthesia 'They perceive colour alongside their normal auditory sensations.' Title: Re: Reverse Sheep Quiz: Lockdown Edition 2 Post by: HutchGF on April 15, 2020, 01:20:12 PM I shall bribe the QM by agreeing to run the next one if it means I win :)

I mean the opening line of Synesthesia literally reads Synesthesia is a perceptual phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway It's not a sense itself and I really liked the answer :( Title: Re: Reverse Sheep Quiz: Lockdown Edition 2 Post by: Chompy on April 15, 2020, 02:10:20 PM cf, I'd say not the best idea for me to run one. Sense: 'a faculty by which the body perceives an external stimulus; one of the faculties of sight, smell, hearing, taste, and touch.' Colour is a sight, triggered by an external stimulus (sound). It would make sense to view it as a sense surely :) Title: Re: Reverse Sheep Quiz: Lockdown Edition 2 Post by: Ironside on April 15, 2020, 02:17:43 PM Apologies, just catching up now. When decided whether to allow them or not I jumped over to wikipedia and over there couldn't find any evidence that would describe "common" or "justice" as senses. More that they're learned behaviours. Your article was interesting.
Could the question have been less vague? I suppose. But then we don't want questions being paragraphs and paragraphs and ultimately boiling down to "there's a documented top 10 list at this link BUT DONT LOOK AT IT please choose one of them". I don't just disallow answers out of spite. I like clever answers but my own instinct (sense?) was they weren't senses. And the limited amount of reading I did didn't change my opinion on that. Had those links been posted during the reveal I would probably have allowed them. Ironside's effort wasn't enough by itself.
