Morning everyone!

We are here in Deauvile, there is a clear blue sky, it's a little chilly, but we are all set for a 4 day Update-Fest.

That's about all I can remember from French lessons at school.

The bad news - for blonde - is that our Star Updater, Jen, is playing, so we have lost her services for this one, but that's GREAT news for Jen, & I know you will all join us in cheering her every move.

But our NEW star - snoopy - will be in charge, so you'll not notice the difference, he's a pretty cool dude too.

I have applied to be his Assistant - got the job - & a few blondeites have offered to help us out by being "runners" & "spotters" - namely Sunday@8pm & PokerQ. Plus, I believe The Boy Thewy is not playing until tomorrow, so he offered to lend a hand today, & so will Jen on her "off"  day I'm sure. (There are two opening days). Ditto Monty Burns.

We have, we expect, 250 runners on each of the two Day One's, a large proportion of which will be internet qualifiers whom we don't know by name.

So the plan is to follow those we know on the two opening days, and load up plenty of pics.

James is on his way to the Casino now, he sounds in high spirits and a great positive attitude. Talking of losing things, I left my Moby in the taxi that took me from Deauville Station to the venue at 10.00 am this morning. I sat & had brekkie with Willie Tann, Stuart Nash, & Mr Gilbert, & realised I had lost my phone. Got a cab back to the station, found the original taxi, & there was my moby, nestling on the back seat. Phew.....

When I was a lad, I made the same faux pas with one of those tamagotchi things that you had to feed and nurture.

I pondered for a while before dipping in to a toilet that still held my excrements.

I don't know if we can fiddle a Press Pass for her, though I just spoke to Conrad Brunner, the PokerStars Big Suit, & he's a big Jen Fan, so I think we will be able to swing it. But if she DOES help out, we must make sure she does not stay until the end, she has a BIG day tomorrow - the biggest day of her poker life.

We are sort of all scrunged up on the stage, overlooking the Feature Table, with the 25 "ordinary" tables on the floor of what appears to be a ballroom. Big high ceiling, huge windows, though sadly the curtains are closed.

Well we are due to start in 10 minutes, the dealers are all seated - but there is not a single player at any table!

We've had a sweep on the start time. Rolf Slotboom went for 2.15pm, Ben 2.50pm, snoops 3.05pm, & I went for 3.10pm.

I got a text from MikkyT just before 11 am today.

"Mikky here On train. Arrive at 1pm frog time. Didn't bring Visa, no deposity lol. No batt on moby and no socket on train t#@ts. Touney starts at two."

Not sure why he needs a Visa or a deposit but it sounds like he's having a whure of a day so far. Good luck to him, hope he makes it in time.

With Jen in action, it's not fair to leave snoops alone, he's only little. Any word on how late arrivals blinds will be managed. Do they have to post every hand till they arrive, are they disqualified from the tournament or is it the fairer way of just having to post when they would be in the blinds.

Wow, at 2.14pm, it's "SHUFFLE UP & DEAL".

We play 10 x 1 hour levels today, 15 min break every 2 levels, 1 hour dinner break, 10k starting chips, blinds start at 25-50. I WANNA PLAY!

Blinds. I've just checked it out - it's the "sensible" rule - they Post their Blinds ONLY on their Blinds, if that makes sense. They do NOT have to Post every hand. Official.

Hi all - Jen here on Snoopy's computer.  The besuited man guarding the press area has let me in 'just once' but I am sure we will circumnavigate this problem and hopefully I can help out Snoops and Tikay with a bit of table running in between railing all the people I know playing today.  And there are so many of them!  It is a lovely spacious red-brocade and gold-y room with chandeliers (I see Snoops returning with camera so I'll cut the description short and let him show you for yourself...)  Back later!

Gosney arrives 20 minutes late, & he's not happy with the positioning of the seats. "Seat 5 on a 9 handed table should be opposite the dealer, you all need to shift yer arses, Dealer, sort 'em out". He then sits down, plays ONE hand, then decides to go to the Bar & have a drink. His parting shot to the table was "now, NONE OF YOU MOVE, understand"?......

Hi folks, finally got over the wi-fi problems I was having. 3 different wireless cards, only one of which would work and that was having problems even though it was conncected. Anyway, a quick few option changes and I'm up and running.

As Tikay mentioned earlier, this event also sees the resumption of the Unusual Suspects, Blue Square's somewhat different take on player sponsorship, that has been running for the past few months. We started out with 9 players and are now down to three

John Falconer 102 pts
James Dempsey 96 pts
Jen Mason 95 pts

They get points for outlasting each other, as follows

1st 12 pts
2nd 9 pts
3rd 7 pts

They also get bonus points for making the money, final table, etc. After this event they play each other heads up twice (4 games each in total) for 5 pts per win and after all that is over the player with the most points will be deemed the winner and will progress to The EPT finale in Monte Carlo next month.  Of course I will have to tag along too  8)

Anyway, both John and James started their campaigns today and as has been reported Burnley John is on dpommo's table. James has had a bad start and has lost maybe 25% of his stack against an unknown Scandie. He's got Carlos Mortensen to his right, Jim Read to his left and Roy Brindley diagonally opposite.

Jen plays tomorrow, as does ex Unusual Suspect and European Numero Uno, Mickey 'The legend' Wolverhampton Wernick. Mickey is now sponsored by Blue Square so we wish him well in his quest to retain his title.

Royal Fish/Flush on about the same, but cautiously also keeping aware of the Burnely stack. They're playing not just for any cash they might pick here but for a €10,000 EPT seat as well....

The Dpommo/Burnely John table is indeed a cracker to watch, with Juha Helpi also seated.

Wow, unattended laptop!  Jen here - just been sneaking around the tables with a few borrowed credentials and here are some tidbits:

Burnley John, although down to 5k just a minute ago has doubled up flopping trips on an AQQ flop, with an opponent holding Q 10 while his Q J was just that little bit better...

Stuart Nash (5,000 left) just found himself in a sticky dwell situation when he made a pretty hefty 2,200 bet into a threeway pot which already had over 3k in in on a  3h Ks Ts flop.  One opponent called, and the turn was the  7s.  Stuart checked, got a 5k bet at him, which was pretty much all-in to call, and dwelled for England before eventually passing.

I was part of the luton heads up team as a reserve for shortstack and had the pleasure of playing against barry neville and I can,t accept that we were lucky lucky,we were just lucky! Dpommo, last time I checked, had 13,000, but the seesaw effect seems to include Dubai (one gets over 10k, the other drifts beneath) who has less than previously. 

Burnley John's back down to around 7k, but it looks like Flushey is defeating his hangover to crawl up to 12k.  He is full of admiration for the raisy crazy Carlos Mortensen on his left, saying that he's just flat calling occasionally and trying to pick up some pots.

The players have been steadily dropping right from the start, but though there were only 209 starters, enough have exited for a couple of sit'n'gos to kick off.  It's sit'n'gos only here, so they create a bit of a frenzy as a table becomes spare; it's like musical chairs as they rush to grab a seat...  Yesterday's trial one for me went terribly, but Jonathan Raab managed to win his.  Anyway, although the room is still packed, the "seat open!" shouts are coming with regularity.

A few things to mention,

For the french followers Pascal Perrault is on 8k, hes got the hump on because Roland De Wolfe is raising every hand on that table, he's raising so much he even makes Foxy, who is 3 to his right, look tight!

Dpommo is up to 18.5k, Juha Helppi to his right has 13.5k and Burnely John who is 3 to pommos left has about 7k.

Dubai seems a bit frustrated and is hovering around the 11k mark, i hope its not long before he finds some hands and chips up.

Thewy is playing a 250E sit and go...he looks ready for a lot of side game action as when i saw him pull his cash out of his pocket he looked fairly wedged up! Must be all those results he's had lately. WP Julian.

They're kind of online satellite specialists (they have all won at least two sats each to live events via blue square). Anyway, I just chatted to Les at the bar and he starts tomorrow, but brothers Jim and Tom both started today and are playing on the SAME table.

Tikay and I just enjoyed the local delicacies of the 'omelette' and the 'croque monsieur' right before the dinner breakers came out en masse, dealers included.  We thought that they were staggering the break so that the large numbers of players go in two hour-long shifts, which means that enough steaks and things are available for the hungry gamblers (there was an announcement to that effect about an hour ago) but everyone's cleared off now so we're not sure exactly what's going on.

Thought you might be spared the quiet tension of a proper hour's hiatus, but there might be no avoiding it...

UKGatsby - they are playing ten hour-long levels today.  There will be a good handful more runners for day 1B, so the actual end-of-day totals are likely to be unestimatable.

Could Marcel be forced to change up, if he hoovered up enough small chips to significantly slow down play at the table as the dealer had to sort out change every hand?

I can understand his reasons for doing this, but it strikes me as quite an arseholey/primadonna-ish thing to do.

tikay back, in tandem with Lady Jen, Ben has gone for some Dinner, as have the players, but we have loads of pics & stuff, some on, some off, the poker tables.

Ben brings word that the biggest single pot young James has won has been about 10k and involved his  Qs Qh vs.  Aspades Kd, all in preflop.  So no real shock value to the story, but it's still nice, I am sure (although Queens haven't been kind to everyone - remember Bad Girl).

By the way, Wunderkind Patrik Antonius, storming towards the chip lead as is his general trend, had a bit of a Get Out of Jail Free moment about half an hour into tonight's competition.  He was down to 6,600 chips, and saw an  Ad Th 5s flop.  The other guy bet 2k, he pushed all-in and was called.  He had  Aspades 9d and found  Ac Qc!

Story to tell here. About 3 or 4 hours ago, I'm walking past a table and Mark Teltscher says

Now, I don't think I've met him before and I ceratinly don't look like a valet, but hey, I'm not one to refuse such a request so off I go and get him a bottle (its free anyway).

I plumped for Flushy, whilst he opted for Marc Nalden. The cheeky monkey knew Nalden was stacked up, by I still have a good feeling about Flushy tonight.

To set the scene, the button and Patrick (in the blind) had gotten as far as the turn, with a board of  Ks Jh 6c Qc.  Patrick check-called what looked like about 5,000.
The river:  Jd
Patrick checked again; the button bet (quickly) 12,000.  This would have left Patrick with just under 10k if he called and lost.  Eventually he made the call...with pocket Tens, and won! 

Does Dubai look calm now?  Is he in the 'zone'?  :D

Well you shouldn't be watching those sort of films!

Well, it's a been a long day. After 10 hours of travelling yesterday, I am now mentally and physically exhausted. Thankfully, my bed is nice and warm so, with a good's night sleep, I should be back in tip top condition again come tomorrow morning.

Personally, I'd like to thank Ben (Sunday8pm) for helping out earlier today. It was great to have him at hand when I needed a couple of hours in bed, so thx again.  :)up What a star!

Tikay's been his usual energetic self. Just like the godfather of soul, his batteries never seem to run out.

hi all managed to scrape through to next day, 56 left out of 225, with 34k, v happy as with 40 mins left had only 5k. Got back to my room to find Ewan Jones and John Kabaj in it having emptied my mini bar ordered room service and got a premium rate porn film on the TV.LOL. I have images in my mind of paying bill at reception ,like Alan Partridge, where she says and 14 euro for the porn Mr Cool. Hey just thought two boys in my room watchin porn i might have the last laugh after all.Off to play golf with Ram and Ross Boatman, had a quick game yesterday with Elblondie, Cascarino and Ewan Jones what a bunch of hackers!!Day two boys got 12 hours, of tough competition, i will pop in to cheer on the Blondites. Must bore you with a miracle escape by myself early in comp. I flat call on button with  7h 8h.    Flop   Kh Qc 4h   First guy bet 700 next guy call rest pass i go all in for 4900. First guy counts out call bet and then asks the serial calling station how much he has, it is about 33k as he is tournament chip leader. Guy number two gets the hump and says to guy one 12k more than you so bet . Number one sees number two count out 21750 to set him in and decides to pass, number two shows me  Kc Td and says i know you have  Qs 4c. LOl i show  7h 8h and guy one says he passed  Ahrt Qh noone belives him so he grabs his cards from the muck and shows exactly that OMG what an escape.

Never has a day in the office gone quicker!...here's to another day like that.
