Not wanting to spark a riot, but they have convicted people for that :) I think if anyone wants to help you, they should PM you :) If I have this arse about face, then apolgies :) Heid xx Title: Re: O/T wireless internet, port forwarding Post by: Ginger on February 11, 2006, 08:01:17 PM Certain clients like to have certain ports forwarded, so you need to check which ones you require first.
Then it's a simple case of telling your client which ones you are using, then setting the same ones in the port forwarding section of your router to the same. Title: Re: O/T wireless internet, port forwarding Post by: Ginger on February 11, 2006, 08:02:37 PM I've seen a guide around somewhere, I'll try to find it for you.
Found it :D ( I think) I'm playing at the moment, but think this is the right one http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm (http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm) Title: Re: O/T wireless internet, port forwarding Post by: BlueWolf on February 12, 2006, 01:52:19 AM cheers Ginger seems ok now, just need to find the optimum place to position the router (i'm on 2nd floor. routers on ground floor any ideas?)
Title: Re: O/T wireless internet, port forwarding Post by: Ginger on February 12, 2006, 02:56:56 AM It may sound rather simplistic and obvious, but for the best coverage you want the router as close to the center of the "network" as possible. So, if you have a pc's on the ground and 2nd floor, see if it's possible to locate it on the 1st floor, sometimes just relocating it on the floor that it currently on will be enough.
For that small of an area, you shouldn't need any extra equipment, most, if not all work at 100m easily. Title: Re: O/T wireless internet, port forwarding Post by: BlueWolf on February 12, 2006, 04:18:55 AM cheers Ginger
