Title: DETAILS OF THE NEXT BLONDE BASH Post by: TightEnd on February 13, 2006, 12:31:11 PM The next Blonde Bash will be held on the weekend of 18th/19th of March at Cincinnati's in Glasgow
The provisional programme of events is as follows: Friday 17th * Normal £20 Cincinnati comp, open to public Saturday 18th * Club open from 1pm for meeting/greeting/drinking/Sit N Goes * 7pm £30 Double Chance Freezeout. Maximum runners 100 * Through the night: SNG/Cash/Heads Up Comp Sunday 19th * 1pm Sunday lunch and Quiz at the club * 4pm £20 competition at Hamilton Academicals FC with Celebrity Poker players from the footballing world. Shuttle transport provided from Cincinnatis. * Regular £20 competition open to public in the evening for those still standing. Over the course of the coming week we will put up a thread about hotel arrangements (in the process of arranging a deal) and travel plans. You will note the the maximum tournament capacity at Cincins is 100. However, not being bound by gaming commission rules we will operate a system of alternates. For those unfamiliar with this, it works as follows: The first 100 names on the Acceptances thread shortly to be started on the Live Poker board will get a seat in the double chance comp. The rest go on the reserve list. As players get knocked out of the comp for the first two hours only they are replaced by players from the reserve list in order. Last time Tikay lasted three hands in a double chance comp. Whilst he might beat that this time, don't bank on it so if you are high on the rerserve list you have every chance of getting in. That's it. Fire away with any comments or questions here and please start putting your names down on the Acceptances thread on live poker. Cheers Title: Re: DETAILS OF THE NEXT BLONDE BASH Post by: BlueWolf on February 13, 2006, 01:14:25 PM sounds great and its sure to be as good as the last one if not better.
Can it be checked wether or not licensed staff from casinos could attend the event as "The Broadway Collective" would love to attend this (theye all blondites now) and say hello again without the restraint of working. Cheers Title: Re: DETAILS OF THE NEXT BLONDE BASH Post by: TightEnd on February 13, 2006, 01:15:41 PM BlueWolf, I will make sure the boss is asked for you
Oh and Rod Paradise, well volunteered for doing the quiz!!!! Title: Re: DETAILS OF THE NEXT BLONDE BASH Post by: lazaroonie on February 13, 2006, 01:22:43 PM Absolutely gutted.
You have to go and put it on the only weekend that I will be away.... Oh well, at least that will leave a space for a decent poker player :) Title: Re: DETAILS OF THE NEXT BLONDE BASH Post by: patman on February 13, 2006, 01:29:21 PM Tighty,
great stuff a wee clarification on the sunday stuff, is the hamilton accies a blonde tournament only? and what is the max field for that?? Title: Re: DETAILS OF THE NEXT BLONDE BASH Post by: TightEnd on February 13, 2006, 01:33:15 PM the Accies tournament is Blondes and invited guests of the Accies chairman only..
maximum number? no idea Title: Re: DETAILS OF THE NEXT BLONDE BASH Post by: Poppet7 on February 13, 2006, 01:39:10 PM OK I've put it in my diary already, thats the weekend after my 19th birthday. Will be an ass to get off of work but I'll beg and plead, I'll have to ask someone very nicely to swap with me!
See ya there ;) Title: Re: DETAILS OF THE NEXT BLONDE BASH Post by: mikkyT on February 13, 2006, 01:41:41 PM Cincinnatis is a gutshot style club, and as far as I am aware there is nothing stopping emplyoees of casinos from playing there, other than being frowned upon by your employer :D
Title: Re: DETAILS OF THE NEXT BLONDE BASH Post by: matt674 on February 13, 2006, 02:11:23 PM As i'll be booking Friday and Monday off work this time to savour a full weekend i'd appreciate it if anyone could recommend a hotel, hostelry or even a good old fashion B&B (thats Bed & Banana not Bed & Breakfast :)) thats within swinging distance to the casino.
Cheers :) p.s. being an irish monkey will there be any special discounts to irish players on the friday?? ;) <post edit comments: OK, if i'd have read the thread in its entirity i'd have seen that hotel accomodation is being organized, would still appreciate any comments anyway in case they have a policy against flea ridden animals!! Title: Re: DETAILS OF THE NEXT BLONDE BASH Post by: TightEnd on February 13, 2006, 02:15:51 PM Just to confirm that we have no problem with casino staff attending. Whether said casino staff's employer has a problem is up to the staff and the employer...so Blue Wolf...I'll leave it with you
Title: Re: DETAILS OF THE NEXT BLONDE BASH Post by: Royal Flush on February 13, 2006, 02:18:34 PM If you are having alternates, would it not be better to scrap the double chance format? That will allow more players in.
Title: Re: DETAILS OF THE NEXT BLONDE BASH Post by: TightEnd on February 13, 2006, 02:19:42 PM Matt, specifically we are attempting to get discount deals and provide a booking code for the Novotel (relatively expensive) and the IBIS (relatively cheap) hotels in the vicinity.
Details if we are ever not kept waiting on the end of the phone for 20 minutes until we get cut off! :D Flushie, thanks...I will reflect that view back Title: Re: DETAILS OF THE NEXT BLONDE BASH Post by: lazaroonie on February 13, 2006, 03:43:35 PM i know people put a lot of effort into these things, and I wont actually be attending, but can I just say something about the hotel situation ?
The IBIS is a really basic hotel. The novotel isnt really much better , and are a fair wee bit away from the venue. I would have thought it maybe a better bet to offer a decent level of accomodation as an alternative - eg Jurys Inn is one of the most modern in the city and offers decent 3 star accomodation. It also is about 2 minutes walk away from Cincinnatis. There are others almost as close, and more expensive - eg Radisson, which may also be worth looking at. Title: Re: DETAILS OF THE NEXT BLONDE BASH Post by: Newmanseye on February 13, 2006, 03:50:23 PM yep Laz is right, the Radison and the Jury's are the best ones as they are closer and quite cheap over the weekends.
Title: Re: DETAILS OF THE NEXT BLONDE BASH Post by: Colchester Kev on February 13, 2006, 03:51:48 PM Laz. as you are away for that weekend, can you leave your house keys with the lads, and we can all doss down at your place :D
Title: Re: DETAILS OF THE NEXT BLONDE BASH Post by: Rod Paradise on February 13, 2006, 03:59:40 PM Re Hotels there is also the Eurohostel across the road from the Jury's - basic - but adequate especially if it's only to crash at 8 in the morning....
Title: Re: DETAILS OF THE NEXT BLONDE BASH Post by: lazaroonie on February 13, 2006, 04:02:19 PM Laz. as you are away for that weekend, can you leave your house keys with the lads, and we can all doss down at your place :D Aye nay bother......unfortunately my missus wont be away with me ( :D ), but I'm sure she will be very accomodating.... oooerrr.... (http://bestsmileys.com/crying/1.gif) No sympathy for me though as I will be down under for the Commonwealth Games. I will have to kick arse in the Crowne Casino in Melbourne to make up for it. I will raise a tinny to you all on the 17th. Title: Re: DETAILS OF THE NEXT BLONDE BASH Post by: GlasgowBandit on February 13, 2006, 06:15:14 PM As this is Paddy's weekend Glasgow will be bouncing. This is also the weekend of the CIS cup final and if Celtic make the final the place will be over populated by many travelling fans from all ove Ireland.
Many hotels will be booked out as many have exclusive deals with the AICSC. It may be best trying to sort something out with The Hilton - anybody on here got any links with Ladbrokes? They might be able to sort out some sort of deal and offer a discount. Also for proximity the Central Hotel might be a decent bet again though this is one that the AICSC have a block booking with. Title: Re: DETAILS OF THE NEXT BLONDE BASH Post by: matt674 on February 14, 2006, 10:13:36 AM Also fogot to ask about cardroom etiquette at Cincinatti's as well. Down this side of the wall we have a custom whereby all cardrooms are "english only" - do you have the same rule up there, are all card rooms "scottish only"?
To be honest it has been a while since i last visited so i may need to purchase a pocket phrase translator for my trip - could anyone recommend a good bookshop that sells them? Title: Re: DETAILS OF THE NEXT BLONDE BASH Post by: ifm on February 14, 2006, 10:15:58 AM Good point Matt, also do we bring our own knives and bats or are they provided on the door?

yes its jamaica street...round the corner from the riverboat casino yes its scots only at the table...we will provide translators no knives are required...a hard stare usually is enough up here ;) looking forward to seeing you folks... Title: Re: DETAILS OF THE NEXT BLONDE BASH Post by: patman on February 14, 2006, 10:25:02 AM if anyone is flying then if they are getting ripped of then you can also fly to prestwick and get a leisurely train to glasgow fairly cheap and quickly
ryanair do that flight ....get in early as for hotels i know the guys are trying to sort a deal but hotels that are reasonably close jurys hotel - jamaica street corus hotel - argyll street holiday inn express - stockwell street radisson sas also a wee short taxi ride hilton thistle marriot no claims on the corus for how good but the rest are ok/good Title: Re: DETAILS OF THE NEXT BLONDE BASH Post by: Ironside on February 14, 2006, 10:26:46 AM can i ask which hotel the scots boys are having breakfast so that i can book a different hotel

Title: Re: DETAILS OF THE NEXT BLONDE BASH Post by: elblondie on February 14, 2006, 06:21:57 PM Just a few more thoughts and clarifications...
The Sunday afternoon comp at Hamilton Accies is an open competition. It will be advertised as so in their match day program. The dress code for this event is 'football shirts or rugby shirts' if possible. This competition will be fast and rowdy with a portion of the pool going to scottish youth football (perhaps 25%). The idea is to have a fun event and possibly televise it, and possibly sell it to TV stations. The capacity is 300 but there may be 120 blondites and the groundsman, I don't really know. Saturdays main comp. If numbers get too big (say we reach 140 or 160), we are considering a suggestion that we have split field start times. Half the field play 3 till 6 the other half play 6:30 til 9:30 the remaining players re-start together at 10. Thomas the Tank is looking into the feasibility of this. The club is half a mile from the train station and all the hotels are within a mile. The travelodge next to Harry Ramsden's and Jury's may be the closest. Title: Re: DETAILS OF THE NEXT BLONDE BASH Post by: Solver on February 14, 2006, 06:23:10 PM Ok,
I've got the Friday and Monday off work and I'm coming up. Looking forward to meeting you all in the flesh. I'll sort out transport and hotels shortly. Is the club / recommended hotels far from the Main train station? See you all soon. I don't think it'll be quite that bad (Celtic will have less of a crowd than a normal home game & few Dunfermline fans will be staying in Glasgow). Title: Re: DETAILS OF THE NEXT BLONDE BASH Post by: GlasgowBandit on February 15, 2006, 02:43:47 PM Coupled with the fact that its Also St Paddy's Rod I think it may well be busier than a normal home game at CP, remember many folk would normally just travel home after a game at Parkhead.
This will be a weekend of celebration for those who support Celtic and also those who are from Irish parentage or indeed those who just use any excuse for a piss up. All this coupled with some great poker I think It'll be heaven. 8) :D Title: Re: DETAILS OF THE NEXT BLONDE BASH Post by: Poppet7 on February 15, 2006, 03:24:54 PM I'm trying to find the cheapest room available. Poppet your best bet is the Eurohostel on Jamaica Street - it's 200 yards from Cincins, 100 yards from Central Station & you can get a bus from the airport into the City Centre for £3 odds. I've had a few friends stay there (some will probably be there the same weekend) - and they say it's clean & comfortable, but basic. of course if im out the tourney early (it might happen you never know...) it might be a problem or if the club shuts early i might need a room Title: Re: DETAILS OF THE NEXT BLONDE BASH Post by: peeveen on February 15, 2006, 04:53:07 PM Quote I'm trying to find the cheapest room available. The Travelodge, Eurohostel and Jury's Inn are all just a few minutes walk from Cincinatti's. Of the three, I reckon the Travelodge is a few paces further away, but there's not much in it. As for a taxi from the airport, the travelodge is right next to a motorway exit, whereas the other two are slap bang in the city centre. There are regular buses from Buchanan Street, Central Station and Hope Bothwell Street to Glasgow International.
Anyone travelling to Prestwick its about £25 in a taxi. And theres a regular train to and from Central Station if you book with Ryanair you get a return on the train for about £3.25. Realistically you could get a Hotel in either the West End, City Centre or even look at various guest houses in the Southside and East of the city and for the majority in a private hire taxi your talking maximum of £8 to cin cin. Once you lot are all booked up post details of hotels and arrivals and departures and I am sure there will be many of the Glasgow mob happy to show you around. I am off work Friday and the Monday so more than happy to make sure you all get around safely. Title: Re: DETAILS OF THE NEXT BLONDE BASH Post by: GlasgowBandit on February 15, 2006, 07:06:22 PM Regards closing time CinCin is open I think as long as their are players!

My flight arrives at 11.40am on the saturday at glasgow so i will probably be out of the airport at 12.30 but i cant check in to my hotel til 3pm, so i will probably be sitting on the doorstep of the club waiting to open :D Im staying at the Travelodge (£90 for 2 nights). do you think i could leave my luggage at the hotel and then check in when i leave the club? (although i could be fair pissed by then) I would only need to do this if we split the main event field and i start at 3 o' clock.
