Title: Walsall cash game Post by: RED-DOG on February 14, 2006, 03:07:42 PM I got involved in the holdem cash game at Walsall last night, WOW!
The players included what I think were a father and son team, both were Irish, both had plenty of money, both were unable to fold, both were called Brian Then there was a young guy with a mountain of chips who re raised everyone with rags, then just sat back and let the deck hit him in the face As if that wasn't enough we also had the mad Turk, liberally peppering the table with large bets and testosterone fuelled bursts of verbal Hanging on to their coat tails were Taff, Phil Peters, Ben Callaghan, (Scuse spelling) and myself What an exciting, scarey, difficult game it was. Whatever your starting hand, and regardless of whether you smooth called, raised or re raised, you knew you were going to get 4 or 5 way action Big pairs like AA or KK lost a lot of their value, while suited connectors had great potential, but even with the blinds at £2 you knew you were going to have to invest at least £50 or £100 to see a flop This was a game where you could easily win or lose several thousand pounds, my game plan was to quit if I lost £500, or if I won £1000, the closest I came to either extreme was £300 down and £450 up When the game broke up at 5:30am I was -£60 and + some new friends, especially the Turk, He's some guy for one fella The Quote of the night came from Brian (The younger) After clashing with Turk is several pots, all of which he lost, he asked in a loud voice "Hey Turk, where the hell are you from anyway?" Title: Re: Walsall cash game Post by: ACE2M on February 14, 2006, 03:33:01 PM I've played this when its got to £128 blind, i was next and got booed for not making it £256.
Title: Re: Walsall cash game Post by: winkie on February 14, 2006, 04:37:40 PM Surely by the live stradles (I assume they're live?), this turns it from a game of skill (i.e. poker) to a pure gamblers paradise...? Stick your money in and hope you hit something.
You may as well stick all the money on the table into the middle, work out the side pots, deal the cards face up, then leave it in the lap of the gods as to the result...! Red, how much cash was on the table last night? Title: Re: Walsall cash game Post by: RED-DOG on February 14, 2006, 04:51:27 PM It was £50 sitdown, Average stack was about £500
Couple of guys sitting with around £1500 One guy played a few hands and walked away with about 2k. Turk chased him all around the casino to tell him ( I assume) what a good sport he was Title: Re: Walsall cash game Post by: b4matt on February 14, 2006, 05:19:16 PM I've been wondering about Mad Turks origin for a while... did u find out?.... ;) ;)
Title: Re: Walsall cash game Post by: ifm on February 15, 2006, 12:33:44 AM I played a cash game there for the first time in a long time the other week and Turk was there too, i found it fun simply because the guy bets at anything with anything (same as tournies) and will always pay you off!!
Top bloke though, he was one of the first blokes i got chatting to at Walsall and he was simply fantastic talkig me thru what i should or shouldn't be doing. Though he once told me he could win every comp he entered if he really wanted to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Title: Re: Walsall cash game Post by: TightEnd on February 15, 2006, 12:42:18 AM I sat down in the cash at Walsall at the Oct festival at 6pm with Turk. I got up at 7.30 for a quick meal with a few others across the road and he'd doubled me up. Hell of a dangerous player though, impossible to read and he can have any part of any flop
Ironed out IrishDenis big time that night, 23 vs KK I recollect.... I am going back to Walsall next week with an intention to try to have the stomach to sit down with him again Title: Re: Walsall cash game Post by: crddolly on February 15, 2006, 08:36:24 AM Red did you win a seat for the main event next week ?
