Title: Broadway Fessie, Part 1 Post by: tikay on February 16, 2006, 05:24:05 PM The £100 Rebuy took place on Wednesday night - 120 runners, with 20+ reserves! Got a nice surprise when I registered too - no juice. Way to go. AND a free buffet - whahoo! Names included Micky Wernick, ActionJack, Bambos, Ash Pervaiz, Ian Oldershaw, Greek Jack, & heap of blondes. 1 hour clock, blinds begun at 25-50, 2k starting chips. Hard to fault The Broadway, they got everything pretty much spot on, though one tinsy winsy criticism is that they squeezed 120 runners into space for 100, & it was VERY cramped. But it's either that, or turn peeps away. Tricky call. Wolfy was in command, heaven help us, but it all seemed to go smoothly. LOVELY atmo, must be said. Word of warning - if you are playing in their comps, you have to leave the cardroom if you want to use your Moby, even if it is just for texts. I almost got red-carded by a very stern-faced dealer! The big names start arriving tonight, including El Blondie, Iwan Jones, etc. I played like an absolute donkey, & after an 8pm start, managed to catch the 11.10pm train home, with an hour to spare..... I managed to flop top pair & took off, not suspecting Matey Boy was holding a topper pair - AA in fact. Rebuy. One orbit later, same guy UTG makes it 100 to go, with Blinds at 25-50. "Aces again" we all speculate? We all limp, like lambs to th slughter, including me with the monster Qd 7d. We see this flop. 6d 8d Ts Matey Boy takes off, & I am pretty sure he has the Aces. But I reckon with my gutshot & flush draw, I'm not far short of even money here, & it's a rebuy. In go the chips. He has the Aces, I miss Rebuy! But, in a rebuy, I think it was the correct play. We end the rebuys, & I pick up Ks Js. Flop is Jd 8c 6h. I decide to Trap-Check my oppo, & he walks right into my cunning trap, moving all-in, & I beat him into the Pot. He shows Qc Qd. Taxi! Werll done to The Broadway. I hope the rest of the Fessie goes as well as last night, they are a class venue. Title: Re: Broadway Fessie, Part 1 Post by: dik9 on February 16, 2006, 06:02:55 PM The original plan was to have the Mezzanine area as the second cardroom for overspill and cash games, giving plenty of space to all. I now see why Bluewolf seemed slightly stressed on msn as I know thats what he would have wanted as well >:( 120 in there does seem to be a bit much as when we went to 10 tables it was a squeeze.
Title: Re: Broadway Fessie, Part 1 Post by: SharkRut on February 16, 2006, 06:22:09 PM Couple of small moans regarding the Broadway, accepting that its a fantastic venue & the staff were mostly very helpful. 118 players but only paid top 9 so players like myself, played till 4.30AM go out 13th & not even the cursory 100 quid to cover expenses. Tournament clock software is great but it must be kept updated so that it is more use than just telling us what the blinds are & how long is left on a level. Also thought the "away from the table" rule was a little fastidious. If your away for 3 hands you are blinded !! if your not sat in your seat your cards are taken away. Imagine the scene on my table, quite well known brummie player stands up to take his cardigan off while in the big blind. He sits back down & his cards have been whipped away as he wasn't sat in his seat !!!!!!! I laughed a lot but he didn't & he voiced his opinion on the matte with vigour !! to no avail might I add. Apart from those little whinges I like the idea of no juice. So well done broadly speaking Broadway & hopefully with the help of Blonde you can keep us informed with results as soon as they happen.
Title: Re: Broadway Fessie, Part 1 Post by: The Truth on February 16, 2006, 07:06:05 PM think the bums on seats thing is a bit harsh - due to an arthritic spine i find sitting too long in one position painfull and often stand. Guess I won't be visiting the broadway anytime soon - shame as I have only heard good things about the place.

Red-dog had just got a reasonably playable stack, Iknowit was still going too, as was Slim shady and Splash. Must agree that two tables should be paid with 120 runners Title: Re: Broadway Fessie, Part 1 Post by: dik9 on February 17, 2006, 04:56:12 AM Result for £100

Title: Re: Broadway Fessie, Part 1 Post by: BlueWolf on February 17, 2006, 03:56:35 PM think Tom went out just as i left at 5am (actually he did AK v AA v QQ queen hit)
Glad you've all enjoyed it so hope it continues Title: Re: Broadway Fessie, Part 1 Post by: TheJagster on February 17, 2006, 04:06:32 PM think Tom went out just as i left at 5am (actually he did AK v AA v QQ queen hit) Glad you've all enjoyed it so hope it continues Thats a shame.....Tom was on my table....I went out at about 4.15 when I tried to play my AQ against KK....H ehad been a bit short stacked but was back in there and going along nicely. GL Craig....here's hoping for a blonde winner! Title: Re: Broadway Fessie, Part 1 Post by: tikay on February 17, 2006, 04:16:19 PM Good Luck Craig!
Tom busted out in a big coup, AK (his) v AA v QQ, the Queen hit. He had 26k at the time, & thought about passing, but he "did a Jen" & went for it. I'm setting off shortly for the nightmare Friday evening drive to Brum. Yuk.... Tom is going too. I'm not bought in yet, nor is Tom, so it's a fingers xx'd job for both of us. Title: Re: Broadway Fessie, Part 1 Post by: dik9 on February 17, 2006, 04:18:49 PM Are you taking your lappie? any chance of some updates please if you are.
Title: Re: Broadway Fessie, Part 1 Post by: tikay on February 17, 2006, 04:25:33 PM Lappie? No. I don't have anyone available to Update, & I can't even Text Update, I almost got red-carded for texting at the table, I stood away from the table & passed blind & the guy said I had to leave the cardroom completely, so thats that idea out of the window I'm afraid. Text updates DO work, but it's evidently a "no-no" at The Broadway. But we ARE Updating the Main Event. Sorry Rich - we would if we could! Title: Re: Broadway Fessie, Part 1 Post by: dik9 on February 17, 2006, 04:27:33 PM No probs, looks like they are taking strict to the letter ??? Look forward to tomorrow then :D
Title: Re: Broadway Fessie, Part 1 Post by: Splash on February 17, 2006, 04:35:01 PM I got myself into a cracking position with 50K + at about 4:50am
I then managed to make one of the worst calls I've made in a long time as I also went for it with AK after an interesing hour of upsetting a Welsh chap for raising his bb on several occasions. Does anyone know his name... glasses, portly and mates with Ewen Jones. It was my 1st live comp with a decent buy in and happy to go deep but anoyed to bust out 18th at 5:10am when in such a commanding positon. Full post mortem on my blog for those interested.... http://wonkyjim.blogspot.com/ (http://wonkyjim.blogspot.com/) Nice to meet u Karabiner.. Red etc. Title: Re: Broadway Fessie, Part 1 Post by: tikay on February 17, 2006, 04:50:42 PM The Welsh Gentleman to whiom you refer is probably Martin Kavanagh (K or C?). I most certainly would not rerer to him as "portly" because it's rude, &, well, he's bloody huge. A sort of mini Viv Williamson/Jeff Burke. Mind you, that Iwan Jones is piling on the weight, too. Oh, & great effort Splash, unlucky. Title: Re: Broadway Fessie, Part 1 Post by: dik9 on February 17, 2006, 05:21:35 PM Now down to 13 runners with chip counts as follows:-
