Title: Newbie advice please...
Post by: Ston on February 18, 2006, 09:47:14 AM
Hi,

I'm a complete novice and just getting into poker.

Hope someone can shed some light for me on one of Dan Harringtons example in one of his books...

Your hand: 5h 5s

He explains some more of the hand, who folds etc, but its this bit I am having trouble with.

Either I am getting confused with the terminology or am just plain stupid :)

He says that "there are just nine pairs higher than your hand (this bit I get :) ) and six ways of drawing each pair, for a total of 54 possible hands."

Its the last bit I don't understand, where does he get the 6 ways of drawing the pair? I make it 3 ways.

Its probably very simple and I am missing something obviouse.

Rgds,
Ston
