Title: Hi everyone
Post by: crich_paul39 on February 24, 2006, 01:42:26 AM

Hello everyone

My names Paul, I'm 39 and from Crich in Derbyshire.

And for all those Football fans out there................. go steady with the abuse lol we are here to talk about poker and not howgreat Leeds United used to be and how poor and sad we are now.

For those who have welcomed me already.

Thanks

If anyone has any live action for (small stakes of course) in the Derbyshire or Nottinghamshire area please let me know. It's time to play some poker without having to listen to my noisy hard drive.

Hi Paul, & welcome to blonde.

Crich in Derbyshire - truly God's Country.

I worked in Heage for over 20 years, just down the road from Crich as you know, & spent many a happy summer evening in Crich, in fact I had a Lady Friend for many years who lived at the top of the hill, quite near Crich Stand.

Crich Stand, for non-locals, is a sort of War Memorial granite sticky-up obelisk sort of thing, right on top of the tallest hill in that part of Derbyshire. I believe you can see 7 counties from the top of Crich Stand, or peeps with good eyes can......

But the main attraction, of course, is the Tram Museum, & the Steam Railway, which used to run down to Butterley as I recall. Butterly, for those ignorant of life's importasnt facts, was originally the home of Butterley Engineering, who forged the cast-iron stanchions at the world's most magnificent Railway Terminus, St Pancras, over 100 years ago, & they are still there to this day.

I think I had better shut up now, or all the Deal or No Deal & Celeb Big Brother saddos, who are unappreciative of life's finer things, will be on my back.

Take care Paul, & enjoy.

Apropos nothing in particualr, there is a GREAT show on UK History - "Engineering Disasters". What WOULD life be without such programmes, eh?

Sets himself up......

I believe you can see 7 counties from the top of Crich Stand

but then covers it in a controlled manner.....

or peeps with good eyes can......

Leaving him free to have a dig at whoever he likes.....

Tikay, a true pro.  :respect:

Jabber on about St. Pancras all you like. So long as you don't start talking about "engineering disasters" involving your pancreas (as I'm eating my dinner) then we'll all be happy.

Oh  :hello: Paul is it?
