Title: home game poker is brutal. BEWARE BAD BEAT Post by: AdamM on July 03, 2005, 12:57:27 AM 7 players I'm on the button early on and most still have around starting stack of 3000.
blinds 50/100 1 limper I have A,10 and make it 300. blinds pass, limper calls. flop 7h,Ac,3d limper checks I bet 500 into 750 pot limper calls turn 4h limper checks i put in another 500 into 1750 (fatal) limper calls. river 8h limper FAST ALL IN now I know the limper has a history of doing this with no hand and busted draws but I didn't see the draws. I hate A10 but given that I was dead sure limper had no A I liked the board which reads 7h,Ac,4d,3h,8h. I called and found the limper had 5h,6h. limp / called pre flop raise check called gutshot (my stupid small bet) check called made straight all in on flush (which they confessed they hadn't seen) so I'm down to 75 chips and you wanna know the worst of it? IT WAS MY MOTHER. wish I'd never taught her the damn game. she watches poker everyday on the TV and played 5,6 suited because she'd seen Negraneu do it. KK in next hand and got seen off by Q,6 in the blinds. Brutal game Title: Re: home game poker is brutal. BEWARE BAD BEAT Post by: tikay on July 03, 2005, 01:17:38 AM Don't argue Adam. Mum knows best. Go to bed. Now, do you hear me? Title: Re: home game poker is brutal. BEWARE BAD BEAT Post by: sig75 on July 03, 2005, 04:33:45 AM Reminds me of when I came home after 6 months away, carrying a Backgammon board under my arm as I had spent a lot of my time playing high stakes Backgammon. Well, not a single soul in my house knew how to play Backgammon, so i had to teach it to my mother in order to play.
Guess what - she wiped me clean with 7 wins in a row. Title: Re: home game poker is brutal. BEWARE BAD BEAT Post by: Newportlad on July 03, 2005, 09:27:02 AM This following occured last Friday in our Home Poker Game.
Down to Heads up. SB: Calls pre-flop. No raise by BB Flop Jh 7h 6h. Small bet by BB which is called. Turn 9h. Both check. River 8h. Medium bet by BB which the SB then decides to go ALL IN. BB immediately calls. SB shown 5h for a straight flush...... BB shows 10 hearts for a better Straight Flush which brought the house down!! Anyone seen anything similar? Title: Re: home game poker is brutal. BEWARE BAD BEAT Post by: ifm on July 03, 2005, 01:31:54 PM I saw something similar to that on the telly, not sure if was wsop or wpt but it was american.
Heads up one fella had the top end of the str8 flush and the other had the bottom, top end is allin on the river and bottom end is covered but *knows* something don't smell right, he thinks and thinks and thinks eventually saying "i can't pass this hand, good luck if you have it". Superb telly, he had such a strong feeling he was behind but who can pass a str8 flush?? Ian |
