with pokerzone and the poker channel getting put behind the forgein language channels on skys new EPG rehash will this end the dedicated channels?

instead of getting themselves put with the sports channels they are now in the middle of no where and thus the only people that will find the channels are those looking for them and people who channel flick will rarely flick to them as there new channel numbers are 843 and 844 and there is no channel near them that anyone over the age of 14 would be watching

challenge's postion has dramatically increased with these moves and pokerzone and the poker channel will be struggling to remain broadcasting for the next 18 months

IMHO the best thing they could do is merge so they can combine the shows they have be able to show more new shows and less repeats and get moved somewhere close to the golf channel and the wrestling channel otherwise they might as well close there doors now

I'm not so sure.  Do they really depend on people browsing through the channels to find them?  Poker Night Live is advertised enough in various places (including winning awards) and will attract people to it then thanks to the technology of Sky, it's just a case of adding it to your favourites then it's easy to find.

Wasn't too happy when I went to 851 this morning and found NOT Radio One.

Had to go through TV Guide to find it is now on 0101 or something to that effect - don't know if you can punch four numbers in or not tho.

Why can't they just leave stuff alone - or at least somehow warn you when they are going to start moving stuff around.

I believe Poker 425 is being moved to 8xx shortly - details will follow as soon as they are confrmed. It's a shame, but it is what it is, it was Sky's decision.

The weight of opinion seems to be to retain the "425" name, but it's a bit of a mouthful to say "Poker 425 on 8??"......

think the 425 boys need to move to get 425 shown on other channels then as IMHO poker being out there on its own means the only people that will find it are those that already know about it and are looking for it

1 dedicated poker channel without the blackjack and craps nonesense that includes poker 425 would be the way forward and then they could argue to get a sports channel number rather than a interactive gaming channel number

Trace - will it change it's name from Poker 425? Not agreed yet, but the weight of opinion suggests it will retain the name "Poker 425", but it's a long & complex issue, & we shall all have to wait & see.

But poker 425 is on channel 425 and forgive me if i sound a little dumb here (isnt the first time and probably wont be the last) but how can sky move a channel called "channel 425" to any other channel?

I've lots of channels move around on my sky but this channel hasnt changed and as it shows the live racing it hardly likely to move away from the sports section is it?

I understand that Challenge is also setting up it's Player channel on channel 123. Interesting that this is in a prime slot whereas the others are where they are (in between Islamic broacasting and GaydateTV). i think the idea of having the channels together is sound, but why have them at such high numbers.
I am hoping that there are enough of us as viewers already, but understand Ironside's point in that you are less likely to flick channels around these numbers.

I may be wrong there Matt, but my point was, even if it is called Channel 425 NOW, shortly it will be called Channel 854 or whatever. Poker 425 on Channel 854, hardly rolls off the tongue, eh?

i thought they'd be done away with all together when i couldn't find them earlier but saw some of the pokerzone's shows on that sportnation channel.
phew. but yeah sky really are changing alot of crap around lately. if they don't stop soon i'm gonna have a fit.

PokerZone & Poker Channel both have new slots in the 800 series, I forget the exact numbers.

As it happens, I begin a weekly Live Phone-in to Poker Night Live tomorrow night - Wednesday - direct from Vienna. I will be doing one night  week, as will a few others, including none other than Monty Burns himself. Do try to miss it, I'm nervous & a bit shy about whether I can cut this deal. They want me to talk as if I am talking Poker to a mate.......

Unless you are BBC1, BBC2, C4 of Five, it's bit of risk naming your channel after your channel number as you at the mercy of BSkyB as to where you exist on their EPG, not to mention that there's very little chance of getting the same number if you are on cable as well.
 As for Poker425, the feeling is that everyone, the players, casinos & the viewers, know us very well as Poker425 & to rename ourselves Poker8xx will just confuse matters (plus we can't afford the re-branding of our T-Shirts & Caps!! :) )
Agree with Tikay, it hardly rolls off the tongue, but I'm sure everyone will find their fave poker programme wherever we get moved to! (I believe there will be an announcement in the next day or so).
