Title: Another Sample Hand Post by: TightEnd on March 01, 2005, 02:23:17 PM Local tournament, mid stages, four tables left, each 8 handed. 250 freezeout
tough table, one successful cash player, two pros, rest regular faces. No mugs. All more experienced than me I have 11,000 chips...below average..haven't see much but have nicked a few pots, been caught a few times too. My aim: not to get to late stages very short stacked as usual! I am dealt KdQd in cut off. Blinds are 400-800 Early position player raises to 2500. He has c21,000 chips. Well known player locally (you'd know him!), running hot, I know he can make moves I call (thoughtsl?) Big blind also calls 8,700 in pot Flop Qc 10c 8s BB checks, Early position raiser bets 18,500 ALL IN. Your choice of play and why please!!!! Title: Re: Another Sample Hand Post by: julian on March 01, 2005, 03:41:31 PM call quickly!
you have a good hand, his bet looks like a bully bet & it might be your best shot at scooping a big pot. Title: Re: Another Sample Hand Post by: AndyG on March 01, 2005, 03:51:13 PM put your stack in so fast the cloth would burn... u need chips ! if he has overpair he wouldnt make that move... if he has AQ then thats poker u had a go
Title: Re: Another Sample Hand Post by: AdamM on March 01, 2005, 03:51:49 PM My feeling is that he's most likely Ac flushing. If he has a Queen it's the same or worse than you and if he has a pair you're happy.
unless he's either got KK or AA or AQ and he's protecting against the flush, all of which is unlikely cos he can take the risk with your stack (what's the BB like) he hasn't got straight or two pair if he's raised prefolp then bet the flop. so for those reasons I'm probably going all-in over the top here, HOWEVER, preflop I'm either passing with your cards or I'm making my stand. how'd it turn out? Title: Re: Another Sample Hand Post by: elblondie on March 03, 2005, 01:16:04 AM :) You said isn't the rockest rock of gibraltor, and you have called to hit exactly this flop - You can't pass now. It would be a waste of the pre-flop call. You may have well have thrown a quarter of your stack down the toilet. Stick it in and cross your fingers.
If he has got you beat it's just not your day. Come back tomorrow. Title: Re: Another Sample Hand Post by: RED-DOG on March 03, 2005, 01:57:58 AM its late dave, go to bed.
Title: Re: Another Sample Hand Post by: TightEnd on March 03, 2005, 01:23:24 PM a) I did call.
b) Did anyone give any consideration to what the BB acting behind me might have?!??! Anyway... I called, and resigned myself to my fate, whether good or bad... I was stunned when the BB called in a flash. The raiser had JJ including a club, so was "semi" at it with his straight and possible flush draw I had top pair and a straight draw(sort of) The BB had QQ and had flopped his set! No help from there on in and the BB sent us both home, he finished second on the night. I wasn't unhappy with the call, it just got me thinking that I hadn't paid enough/any attention to the BB behind me! Title: Re: Another Sample Hand Post by: AdamM on March 03, 2005, 01:41:41 PM With Q,Q you would expect the BB to push them in there (although you didn't say how many chips he had) so you couldn't put him on any where near as big as that. would have served him right if someone had hit and busted his set.
