Title: I gotta horse....
Post by: The Camel on March 04, 2006, 01:04:11 PM
I don't usually like tipping horses because they are nearly as unreliable as my poker play; but this one is a huge price so hopefully we can't do much damage.

Mount Sandel is currently trading at 26 on Betfair in the 4.55 at Newbury.

The guy who gave to me is a pretty good judge and when I mentioned the two talking horses of Jonjo and Nicholls in the race he said "All the better for us. Makes our beast a bigger price!"

If you back it, don't go mad but the horse should go well.

I think I would rather take the 25/1 to win on betfair than 12/1 each way with Hills even though it does look a very tough race.

Maybe the price nearer the race will allow an each way bet as early prices on NH Flat races are notoriously tight.

I've backed it too

if you haven't got betfair, just take S/P e/w at the bookies/on the phone

there are a couple of hot horse in the race which should prevent our one shortening too much

I had to go out so couldn't lay, what was it's lowest lay price?

I'm not sure what the lowest was Robert.  I had an average of 24.47, layed at 21 and 22.  Enough for a mars bar if it lost  :D

backed at 26 so could have made a few points if I hadn't have had to go out

I believe that it made a lot of the running so you probably could have laid it @ 8 or 10 "in running".

It finished a staying on 4th and ran a pretty decent race imo.

Sorry guys.

It hung up the straight when the jockey asked for maximum effort and hence he couldn't ride a proper finish.

He did stay on well however and if Sherwood irons out the kinks which are hopefully caused by immaturity (and not temprament) he should be a very a very useful horse.

Whether he would ever be good enough to beat the winner, who could be outstanding, is questionable.
