Sometimes the blue bar at the bottom of Mozilla stops half way. Sometimes the post registers, sometimes it doesn't, but I can't tell, so I post it again just in case it hasn't.

James Browning is OUT.

He raised under the gun with A-J only to find the small blind, Peter Provaznik, calling with pocket sixes.

Board gave no assistance and Browning is sent packing.

He wasn't too impressed by the call. Apparantly he'd been moving his short stack in previous to that hand and seen opponents fold hands like A-J, 7-7, etc.

And with Ian Harris nowhere in sight, in seems as we're going to have to stick a fork in the British contigent.

I hope Ian's in the loo.

The extremely enthusiastic Santi is OUT - but I've never seen a player looking as delighted as he was as he wished the others good luck and posed for some pics for blonde.  It's great (if somewhat odd) to see such high spirits after a day two knockout - but he made the money and clearly had a good time.

He ran into pocket queens with pocket jacks and moved all-in on a 6-6-4 board. 7-3 turn and river didn't save him.

Turrisi just doubled up.  We know because the loudest "Yeah!"ing in the world just attracted the whole card room's attention.  High fives may have been involved.

No one has been eliminated - we aren't exactly sat ringside so sometimes the action has to be recapped by the players themselves later... we kind of run back and forth between the tables of the Final, those of the simultaneously running €500 and the dining area where we have power for our laptops...

Your friend, Sue.E., is sat right where I was taking this shot from - we will go get a picture of him soon.  This is one of the two last tables as it looked about 20 minutes ago.  I reckon it is going to be quite a long day to get down to six final table players tonight.

The action is just crawling along, with so many chips floating about, they're not keen on getting a lot of them in preflop.  Or on the flop for that matter.  Not terribly interesting newswise (player A raises in position, picks up blinds etc.) but definitely good for those still playing.  Lots of space to play without compulsory gambling.  Just look at orange'n'brown wearing Tim Miles' stack for example.

There in the middle next to the dealer is David Bagheri who lost a chunk but is still finding it fun.

He moved his whole stack (between 30 and 40k) in preflop and waited while Tim Miles dwelled about calling on the button.  "I want you to call," said Mark, "So I can double up or go out before dinner."  Call he did, with  Ad Th, but Mark held  Ac Qd.

Turn:  6c  (and Mark was breathing more easily)
River:  Aspades  and he's up to 80k

Simon Hennessey (OUT from the other comp, btw) has some info on Jonathan Plens (he finally has a first name)... On Day One, this guy was apparently the rock of ages, playing in total about six hands, three of which were limp-folders.  When we told Simon that Jonathan was second in chips, he said, "What did he do, double through with Aces??"  :)

I haven't seen this happen before. Two all-ins at EXACTLY the same time.

Big TK didn't know which way to turn as he has to announce the hands.

Note for Sue.E.Cidal - I spoke to Ernst in the break and he said Snoopy (remember that - I didn't count that stack) Snoopy overestimated his 390k at that point.  Still chip leader though.

And Mr. Bagheri's demise leaves me down €20 for my last longer side bet.  Great.  I'm buying the ice cream... Snoopy's getting one scoop of avocado and one of celery.

Been off tableside watching what is becoming a pretty tense and exciting game.  OK, so there haven't been many flops, but there has certainly been a great deal of manoevring.  Here are some examples:

Stockinger raises on the button to 18k (blinds 3k - 6k ante 600).  Big blind Ernst Hermans re-raises to 45k, and Stockinger folds.

Mark Bartlog raises on the button (so many hands start like this, eh?) to 18k.  Small blind Tim Miles re-raises by 36k.  Then silence fell when Mark pushed in for another 65,600.  "I won't hold it against you if you pass," said Mark.  Eventually, after looking at the pot, then back at his hand and so on for a while, Tim folded.

Alex Kravchenko has doubled up.

Ks Js v Qd 8d

2-5-4-T-7 board missed everyone, although there was a chance of a split pot if a fifth heart had hit the river.


On a sidenote, how Russian does Alex Kravchenko sound??

Also this one pretty good - Roman raised to 16k, Ernst re-raised another 65k, then Peter Provaznik suddenly moved all-in.  This unexpected turn of events eventually pushed both raisers off!

We often get questioned about what we're doing typing in the back of card rooms, but rarely does someone introduce themselves by asking us to Google them, for they are a genius and have a Law named after them - in this case, just that happened.

We found http://www.peter-helbich.at/book__section1.html when we searched for Helbich Law, a theorem about Economic Freedom and its correlation to prosperity and life expectancy at birth.  Now, this is pretty interesting stuff, and not what one usually gets chatting about at poker festivals.  It appears his hobby here isn't poker either (although he seemed interested by blonde) but a strange blackjack variant known as 22, where he plays the bank.  I think he might become a blondeite if I email him with details of theories of this game...
