Title: Oh Vienna - €1,000 Double Chance Freezeout - Live (ish) Update
Post by: AlrightJack on March 05, 2006, 03:55:55 PM
For everyone except the 6 finalists in the main event, today is the €1,000 double chance freezeout here in the Concord Card Club in Vienna. Lots of Brits playing so I will be doing my best to follow the action and report on proceedings. It is due to start at 5pm, but since the telivised final of the main eventis now almost 2 hours late in kicking off, I guess we may have a bit of a delay.

grr

It never even got started.

We put our names down, but the satellite was never announced, even when it filled up. After an hour or two, we tried to find Big TK to find out what was going on, but he'd scarpered.

 :tikay:

I quite fancied this 1 too.

On the same tables....

Matt Tyler is next to Deauville winner Mats Iremark

Jonny Texas Hewston is next to Julian Yoyo Thew and they also have the canine one on the same table

Joe Grech and Mick Jones sharing the same table

Simon Hennessy is on the same table as an Italian we have dubbed 'Bent Nose' due to his, err bent nose.

Mikey Tse, who finalled in yesterday's €500 is on the same table as James Browning, Stuart Fox (who is not here yet, but I've drawn his seat for him) and Tony G (Tony Girasoli, who owns Cincinatti's in Glasgow that is)

Steve Vladar is sitting next to his Royal Highness, Wernick the first.

Ashley Alterman and Steve Jelinek share a playing arena

Wardonkey is sitting next to Len Collin.

JImmy Vegas Kerrigan has no other Brits on his table, but I'm sure it'll be a scream anyway.

Chip Counts - an (x) indicates that the double chance has already been used.

Steve Vladar        2,200
Mickey Wernick    3,700
Patrick Taylor       4,050 (x) - misplayed AQ lost him his first chance
Len Collin            2,500 (x)
Stuart Fox          4,000
James Browning  3,600
Tony Girasoli       9,700
Matt Tyler          3,600
Julian Thew        6,000
Micky Jones        2,000
Joe Grech          3,250 (x) - he tried to get chips early on
Bow Wow         3,250
David Rudling     6,500 (x) - he is also on the same table as Joe Grech and Micky Jones

Some more recent chippy counts:

Matt Tyler -- 4k
Julian -- 6k
Foxy -- 4k (no rebuy)
RED-DOG -- 3k
Len Collin -- 3.5k
Mick Jones -- 3.5k (no rebuy)
Wardonkey -- 4k
Joe Grech -- 3.5k
Micky Wernick -- 5.5k (no rebuy)
Bad Girl -- 4.5k
James Browning -- 2.5k (no rebuy)
Simon Henessey -- 3k
Brian Wilson -- 6k (no rebuy)

Vladar is OUT. He held 2nd pair and an open ended straight, but Micky Wernick already had the straight. The flush he made on the river was salt in wounds.

Brain Wilson bullied with a pair of sixes, but the bloke with aces wouldn't put them down.

It came K-K-Q-4-4 and he's lost most of his first batch. Left with about 600 apparantly, but still has his 2nd rebuy to back him up.

Matt Tyler has lost his first chance.

He moved in for 2,725 on a 4s 7h 8d flop.

His opponent, mateyboy, called after a dwell and turned over 9s 9c

Matt tapped the table and revealed his Qd 9d

The turn Ac and river Td did not help Matt.

Red God has unfortunately gone.

His kings got busted early and he was always playing catch up.

Then, the hand that did the real damage...

He's limped with 8c 4c

Flop 2c 3c 4d

He's bet it and got one caller.

Turn Qh

Checkity check.

River Qd

Red bets it fairly big and he is called by a pair of sevens, which put him down to the felt.

And that was just about that, he went out on a flush draw and is now looking rather brave.

"How could he call" says Red "There was everything out there" he adds, beforre concluding "It was a world class play against a less than world class player"

Officially bokked.

Matt is OUT

In his own words, 'I got creative again'

Under the gun raised, Matt moved all-in, utg called, selfishly, with his aces.

Matt = A-Q

The board came queen high, but, alas, the aces crack Matt's monster.  ::)

Wardonkey is OUT.

Donks called a preflop raise from the big blind with J-T

Flop came T-Q-rag

Donks checks, Mateyboy, who was on the button incidentally, bet, donks moved all-in, and Mateyboy called.

Mateyboy = A-Q

No help.

Toast.

Simon Hennessey is out.

He gets moved tables and as he takes his new seat he is dealt

Ad Qh

He has 4,500 chips and calls a 550 bet from the button.

Flop

Qd Jd 8d giving him top pair and the nut flush draw.

At this point another player turns up and says "what are you doing in my new seat?"

It transpires that the floorman has directed Simon to the wrong seat!

Anyway, he bets 2,000 and is put all in by his opponent.

He calls and faces Kd Th

The turn is a blank, but the river is the 9c giving his opponent a straight and knocking him out on a hand on a table he definitely shouldn't have been in....

Scottish Bob Mitchell, who was the chip leader with about 40k is out. This is how it happened.

He has AJ and the flop is AJT.

He bets, is reraised by his opponent who has about half his chips and goes all in.  He calls and finds out he is up against KQ.

Next hand, he gets 33 and limps. The same guy raises it 1,000.  Bob calls and the flop is A38. Bob bets, oppo goes all in. Bob calls and finds himself up against pocket eights. Set over set and its all over for Bob...

I'm afraid to say that Tony is gone. Don't know when or how, but there are 15 players left.  There is still some British interest in the shape of the two Micks, Wernick and Jones.

Wernick 18k
Jones 35k

As you may have been able to tell, I've had a bit of a recreational break (online sit and go) in the last hour or so, but I will now get back to work...

Scratch that last post, Tony is still going strong on about 40k.  There was another table tucked away in the corner and due to the tournament screen being turned off I only only saw the two tables in the main area.

There are actually 22 left.

Tony G - 21k (he's not looking too happy so I guess he's just lost a big pot)
Mikey Tse - 7k - not looking too happy either, he just made the finger across his throat sign to me, which is never good.

Found out how Mikey Tse lost his chips. He had QT in a pot against Ivo Donev. The flop was 9T3. Mikey bet 4k. Ivo moved all in for a total of 11k. Mikey called for another 7k. Ivo had A9 and rivered another 9...

Right, I believe this guy is Micky Tsu (Jonathan??).

He just yelped. I thought he'd been shot, when in fact he'd just outdrawn cowboys with 9-9. Third 9 on the river.

Mikey Tse. 9 on the river seems to be the story of the last hour for Mikey.

Mikey Tse is now on 24k. They are about to restart. Apparently it was on the turn that the 9 hit.

Tony G is out in 17th.

He had K2 in the small blind on a KJ2 fllop. He cjecks, the big blind bets, Tony calls.

Turn a blank. Tony checks, the big blind goes all-in. Tony calls. The big blind shows K7 and the river is a 7...

Down to 15 now. Mateyboy's aces just got cracked by mateyboy's KJ, which made a straight. Serves him right for playing a hand against himself...actually I don't feel sorry for him as he bashed the table aggressively when he lost, which is never a graceful way to exit.

Mickey Wernick just got me good and proper. I approach the table to see him sittiing with just 2 yellow 1,000 chips and a stack of about 25 100s. I shrug, my face drops and as I'm mouthing to him "what happened?" he plonks down a stack of 20 or so more yellow 1,000s that he'd been hiding from me and bursts out laughing...nice one Mick!

Down to 11.  Mickey Wernick takes two players out on one hand, one of them being Micky Jones.

Matey boy goes all in for about 12k. Mickey beats him into the pot and Micky, the shortest stack of the three in the coup also calls.

Mickey has AK
Micky has AQ
Matey Boy has A3

A queen and a ten fall on the flop, but a jack turns and Lord W is now in good shape with approaching 40k.  Unlucky Micky, its not been your day.

Evening Mr Raab.  Pass on a few words of encouragement to Mr Wernick for me - not that he seems to need them.....!

10 left. Their playing a ten handed final now, but only nine get played. Mickey is in a great mood, really up for it and he has about 50,000 chips now.

Will pass on the message Jamie. How is Jo's knee?

Not so sore now apparently but she's still pretty crocked and won't be walking for a while.

Did you know you'll be missing the Blue Square staff poker comp tomorrow evening?  Will post on here if I win, else I'll claim it was cancelled....  :D

Hehe, good luck Jamie. Pass my regards on to Jo.

They are down to the final 9 and the money now. Unfortunately Mikey Tse was the 10th place finisher. He moved all in with his remaining 15k and found a caller.

He had 4d 4c

His caller had 6d 6s

The board was no help.

7 left now. Mickey is on about 50k. The blinds are 2,000-4,000 with a running ante of 400.

Will pass it on Craig.

Unfortunately Mickey is out in 7th.

He raised 11,000 and a bigger stack moved all in. Mickey passed his pocket 3s and the reraiser showed pocket Aces!

3 hands later Mickey gets it in with AJ and the same guy has aces again!

Still 2 finals in a row. Blue Square is very proud, but feels for him at the same time.
