Title: You have 30 seconds to decide....... Post by: TightEnd on March 06, 2006, 01:00:38 AM 2-4 NLHE Cash, online
You sit with $350 Mateyboy 1 is UTG with $550 Mateyboy 2 is SB with $450 UTG raises to $12 You are in mid position with 7c 7d you flat call SB calls, BB folds $40 IN THE POT Flop Tc 9c 7h Marvellous, first aim achieved but the board is horrible Both mateyboys are average to poor players. see a lot of flops and SB is weak post flop. I have UTG on a big pair, if so this would be the third smallish raise in the last 20 minutes with JJ or higher in EP SB, no idea, could be any two UTG bets out $35 I raise to $100, wanting to get all of UTG's money (lets say QQ/KK/AA maybe AK) in theory and to shut the SB out SB immediately goes all in for $438 more UTG immediately all in for $500 More Your $230 odd now looks rather puny!! You have 30 seconds to decide...call or fold? Title: Re: You have 30 seconds to decide....... Post by: jezza777 on March 06, 2006, 01:21:29 AM tough but probably a fold. NO its a call one is drawing to the flush and the other has an overpair.
Title: Re: You have 30 seconds to decide....... Post by: NoflopsHomer on March 06, 2006, 01:24:00 AM SB has check/raised all in vs a bet and a raise, at least he must have something like Ac 8c
Title: Re: You have 30 seconds to decide....... Post by: moritzey on March 06, 2006, 01:27:05 AM Call. I'd put them on flush draw and AA/KK? And if someone really has J8, you still have outs ...
Title: Re: You have 30 seconds to decide....... Post by: jezza777 on March 06, 2006, 01:30:29 AM I think you are ahead right now but have a lot of cards to avoid . Dont think I could laydown a set , I've only just started to laydown the odd overpair!
Title: Re: You have 30 seconds to decide....... Post by: Poppet7 on March 06, 2006, 01:45:27 AM I'd call... I think...

Dont think I could laydown a set , I've only just started to laydown the odd overpair! Got to agree with Jezza here, alot of cards to avoid, but for me its a call. I had a similar situation earlier this week, albeit in a tourney and managed to hit quads on the turn :D Title: Re: You have 30 seconds to decide....... Post by: WellChief on March 06, 2006, 03:07:46 AM I'd say that you have nothing to worry about against UTG as he is most likely a fish with KK or AA. Small blind is a worry though, a hand like Jc Qc or 8c Ac is a possibility as is 9's or 10's, surely not 8 J or 9 10 but you never know on these tables. Can't see how they could have anything else.
It's not an easy decision but it depends a lot on the players you're up against. I'd personally call here given its $230 to win $1050. Title: Re: You have 30 seconds to decide....... Post by: Robert HM on March 06, 2006, 08:14:04 AM The odds suggest a call
Title: Re: You have 30 seconds to decide....... Post by: londonpokergirl on March 06, 2006, 11:04:48 AM call in a nano second, even if they are both flushing or str8 ing you have outs ;)
lump and fingers crossed :) if not reload Title: Re: You have 30 seconds to decide....... Post by: Pombo on March 06, 2006, 11:46:39 AM I'm calling this from your reads let alone the odds....UTG is on a probable overpair and SB could have a range of hand including even something like TPTK. I don't think I'm good enough to lay it down! I'd be gutted if I saw set over set but c'est la vie.
Title: Re: You have 30 seconds to decide....... Post by: TightEnd on March 06, 2006, 01:19:53 PM Well I Called.
As i suggested i read UTG for a big pair SB i had no idea, and this worried me, I hoped he was drawing but I suspected not...he's check raised a bet and a raise...hmmmmmm... still i am not laying down too many sets at this level So in the money goes, no hand improves further The small Blind has 9d 9h. Ouch UTG has, and this was the real shocker... 8c 6c, for the made straight I was third, and even my outs to the house were counterfiet. Afterwards I pondered, and thought i should have got away from it. Now I don't think so However on reflection (and from the majority of your comments, which was why I posted, you would have called) UTG played like a fish and got lucky and the SB took a risk checking his set out of position on that flop... Live and learn Title: Re: You have 30 seconds to decide....... Post by: matt674 on March 06, 2006, 02:48:24 PM online poker is sooooo obv rigged 8)
Title: Re: You have 30 seconds to decide....... Post by: Pombo on March 06, 2006, 03:54:40 PM haha...obviously....raises 86s UTG and gets a flop like that against set over set!!
Title: Re: You have 30 seconds to decide....... Post by: jezza777 on March 06, 2006, 04:38:37 PM ouch, still dont think you could have folded tho.
Title: Re: You have 30 seconds to decide....... Post by: Royal Flush on March 07, 2006, 09:16:46 PM I call alllllll dayyyyy longgggg
Title: Re: You have 30 seconds to decide....... Post by: 12barblues on March 09, 2006, 02:02:43 AM Only just caught up with this thread..........I might not be very happy about the situation, but I would call every time.
Title: Re: You have 30 seconds to decide....... Post by: SupaMonkey on March 09, 2006, 02:51:15 PM I woulda called too. When i read it i thought that the SB was trying to protect his hand (i thought he had two pairs) and utg had overcards/pair.
Title: Re: You have 30 seconds to decide....... Post by: The Rivercard on March 11, 2006, 12:51:48 AM You had no choice and I would call every time. You where very unlucky and with that flop I would expect to win 80% of the time
Title: Re: You have 30 seconds to decide....... Post by: byronkincaid on March 11, 2006, 09:19:24 AM Being a cash game fish myself, I think i would have been very pleased with myself if i were UTG in this hand. Could you tell me why this move is fishy?
I was speaking to one of the stars guys and he was saying that the top tourney players are winning nowhere near as much money as the cash game guys. It looks like something I need to learn, so I was looking over the shoulder of some high rolling scandi's while they were playing on a laptop last night and they were making moves like this all night (admitedly in a shorthanded game) Title: Re: You have 30 seconds to decide....... Post by: GlasgowBandit on March 12, 2006, 08:55:05 PM I'd have called as well!
Then Iw ould have been like Mr Angry shouting like F**K at the com-poo-ter! Fix, Fixed I say! ;tk; Title: Re: You have 30 seconds to decide....... Granted this could possibly be true but then as the two games are two completely different kettles of fish chances are not many of the top tournament winners on pokerstars would be able to also be able to make as much as the top cash game guys in cash games. I can hold my own in the top level of the mutli table tournament arena on pokerstars, i doubt i could do the same at the top level in the cash games..... |
