Post by: Poppet7 on March 06, 2006, 03:37:09 PM I have just received an UNCONDITIONAL offer from university which means I can quit college (where I was retaking 2 subjects) and go to get a job until September. The only condition is that I have a clear CRB record, which I do! I am absolutely over the moon! This is what I've been praying for because I hate college and I am in severe financial difficulty.

So even though I hated it I went back to college, haven't attended properly since November so I gave up the idea of going to the Uni of Kent so now I'm going to Canterbury Christ Church University, it's a 10 minute walk from me. So today and tomorrow I will look for a full time job :)

The degree i've been unconditionally accepted for is Psychology and Early Childhood Studies but I also have a Social Work degree interview on Wednesday, I've had a bit of experience working as a contact supervisor (for foster children when they see their real families) and am starting to volunteer with supported contact too, so I know I am very interested in social work and the welfare of children, so hopefully my career will have something to do with that. I think it went ok, they seemed impressed by all the experience I've had: Contact Supervisor (for foster children when they visit their real families) Supported Contact Supervisor (Voluntary) Back Up Foster Carer (starting in a few weeks) Worked with people that have Downs Syndrome Worked in 2 elderly homes Thats quite a lot considering I'm only 18 and the woman seemed impressed by that. The bloke didn;t really do or say much, but I felt a bit uncomfortable with him so I tried to look at the woman most of the time. There were 1500 applicants for this course and theres 40 places.... I'm one of the successful ones that got an interview... I just hope I get the place! If not, then I'm still on the Psychology degree. |
