Title: Jen and Tournaments in General
Post by: Sark79 on March 08, 2006, 04:53:45 PM
I was wondering.  How long does the tournie that Jen is playing last for?

Do tournaments like the E.P.T/ W.P.T and W.S.O.P all last the same number of days?.

Are these type of tournies just  Hold-Em events or are there other games also running. Obviously there are W.S.O.P champions for 7 stud, Omaha, ect. But is there a E.P.T champ for 7 stud and Omaha.

Forgive my ignorance. I am learning..lol

I think poker is like a jigsaw puzzle. There are lots of pieces to put together. However after you put one part of the puzzle together, you find another piece which needs to be added. This is how I view the poker world.

If poker is like a jigsaw puzzle, then I have several unopened boxes, all sitting there waiting for me to attempt. These are labbled : 7 card stud, omaha, omaha H-L, Tournaments, Live Games, ect.  As well as these, I also have to try and figure out Hold-Em and try to put the pieces in the correct order.

To put it another way, I have put about 10 pieces of an endless jigsaw puzzle together.

thanks

Poker is like a jigsaw puzzle - just when you think you've got it cracked, you discover that the dog has swallowed one of the pieces.

There is no set structure for the big poker events - this causes a whole load of fuss as things change from venue to venue. A lot depends on the number of entrants and the size of the venue - if you can't fit everyone in on one day you have to split day one.

The events that comprise the WPT/EPT circuit events will consist of a mian event and a series of support events

The main event will generally last several days depending on number of runners/capactiy etc and the support events will provide Hold em tournamants with a variety of buy ins...satellites run and SNGs take place too, together with cash games in size.

WSOP is more than a month long and will contain events in all the poker disciplines...the EPT/WPT events are NLHE only

Dammit, I'd spotted a perfect 'correct Tight on a small technicality' moment but he's actually technically correct (probably without realising).

The WPT has historically had one Limit Holdem event, the Party Poker Million.  However, this is no longer part of the WPT circuit so its now totally NLHE, as Tighty says.

Unfortunately, the WSOP is turning more and more into the World Series of Holdem due to TV exposure, which is a shame.

I realised!

try harder Sheriff.

One of the highlights of watching the WSOP highlights for me is the occasional programme on the Razz competition etc...bizarre and wonderful to behold!

Hi Sark

EPT are normally 3 days events.   They have 2 flights and then final on 3rd day until the end
EPT Deauville started 2pm and finished about 3am when I played it, then 2nd day was  3pm until about 2am
then back the 3rd day at 2pm to get knocked out about 2.30pm lol   but was great ;)
