??? Whyzat den? ???

I’m not an expert but reading Rob Yong’s diary he makes a good argument. That’s why I said I hope it’s not a skin. I hope it’s something more…

From Robs dairy -
http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=3985.375

“We are now very close to signing up with an online poker room provider after I spoke with their Sales Director today. If you want to set up an online poker room you have 3 options:

Option 1. Have a skin of a skin (effectively you are a glorified affiliate)
Option 2. Have a skin from a cage (eg. Victor Changer or Blue Square)
Option 3. Go direct to the software provider.

Each have their pros and cons, mainly down to control versus cost. We are favouring Option 3, which is more expensive but gives you much more control. Option 3 requires set-up costs and additional support costs, but at least you have more of your destiny in your own hands.

It is key that we make the online side work, as we be less reliant on external sponsership from other poker sites to subsidise the live club. Our strategy is to do everything "in house" at DTD, so noone controls us and we can do the right things by the members and remain independent.”

“Development of our poker client will begin in April and Pete will be heading this up. I see this as way we may be able to subsidise some of the overspends on the club, but the % of gross rake you actually receive after banking charges, royalties and various charges is not substancial unless tou can afford to set yourself as a cage, such as VC or Bluesquare. In effect, being a skin, you are an "affiliate" with a slightly higher commission scheme and more hassle, but we need the software to run our satelittes for the club which I consider a key factor in generating large fields of players to increase prize pool sizes.”

Post by: thetank on March 10, 2006, 05:29:12 PM
Being a skin does have two distinct advantages.

You don't have to wait for a critical mass of players. You are sharing the traffic with other skins/the main site. Who'd go to an online poker-room with 20 people playing there?

You're using software the online community already knows and trusts.

Creating a brand new site, and not just a skin, would take at least a cheeky mill in advertising IMHO.

I can say that it will be a skin from a cage.

Developing your own cage is a huge task and a big responsibility.

More snippets of info:

The blondepoker Internet room will use the tribecca software. It will be part of the Bowman's hub/network which is used extensively in Canada and North America.

It will not be part of the PokerInEurope/Victor Chandler network.

Therefore, we don't anticipate any problems along the lines of 'you already have an account....'

Interesting, I think they will have to go along way to beat BlueSquare though.

Previous to them, we were ALWAYS told that they had NO CONTROL over the blind levels - WOT B******S!! (as Blue Square have proved)

Now if only they could alter the stack size / blind structure :(

I think its an excellent decision to go with a network that is "non uk based" so that Blondepoker people can play against different players than the current tribecca network. I also think that this will be able to control and manage their BP tourneys and players get used to using the same formats etc.

I read in FHM (how reliable this is god knows) that 43% of males had played some from of poker in 2005, the market is huge and there is room for more internet rooms in the UK. I guess there is a hardcore of 2000 players around the UK who play the live circuit - imagine how many players that must sit at home playing online. Blondepoker is the most successful internet forum in the UK, and its a logical step to add a online room to the site. Travelling round the world providing us with live updates etc costs money, and their service can only improve if the online room is successful aswell.

I'm sure the Blondite members will choose to play on the Blondepoker online room in preference to other sites as they know that their rake will go improve BP further. I also hope that this will mean that the amount of banners etc can be reduced and replaced with more content etc.

I look forward to seeing how this works . As therivercard is a Tribeca skin and having gone through all this for some time I am really glad that you have chosen this network. I am pesently using VC as a cage but intend to run my own cage by the end of the year.I do think you ought to check the "you already have an account " situation though. I have had several players trying to sign up for the 100% bonus who have old accounts with a different cage and we have experienced some problems.

If anyone wants to contact me I would be only to happy to help where possible. I look forward to seeing you on the network.

The cash handling / cage will all be handled by Bowmans.

soon sharpy, soon.

For now thougt, here's a bit of info on the blondepoker Loyalty Programme

Every month, the new Loyalty Programme gives you the chance to multiply the number of action points you’d earn anyway by playing in cash games and real money tournaments at blondepoker. All you have to do is accumulate as many action points as you can during each calendar month.

The scheme is divided into five loyalty levels: Blue, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Black. On the first day of each month every player starts afresh at the Blue level and works their way up the loyalty ladder as they gain action points. On the last day of the month, that month’s action point total is multiplied up according to the level they’ve reached.

Any bonus action points awarded are simply credited to your poker account in the first week of the following month. You won’t have to lift a finger.

Your loyalty level is reset every month – but the bonus action points stay in your poker account until you decide to spend them…

More poker means more points, and more points mean bigger prizes. It’s as simple as that!

Here are some of the exciting prizes your extra action points can buy:

• Freeroll entries
• Poker books and poker DVDs
• Poker chip sets
• Gadgets like iPod Nanos, LCD TVs and laptops.
• Vouchers (Black & Platinum players only)
• Trip of a lifetime to World Series of Poker

Just picking up on a few questions that have been Posted.

The Dave/UPL connection. Dave has worked with UPL for a very long time indeed, & continues to do so. In fact, I believe he owns a nana % of UPL. That won't change, but it does partly explain why that route was chosen.

He also has a relationship with Littlewoods, & I have no idea how that will move forward, but truth to tell, that's between Dave & Littlewoods.

Personally, I see no reason why it should not continue. blonde are NOT gonna thrust the Cardroom down peeps throats, we are NOT gonna get all high & mighty about other sites. If someone wants to post that there's a nice comp on Wm Hill or Laddies or whoever tonight, we will welcome that, as we have always done. And you can still say you like that site or this site or the other site, but we still won't let you start being rude about ANY sites.

If you have any questions, just ask.

OMG I can't believe I've done it but I've decamped from VC, something I thought I would never do.

I've left my original £5 on VC and transferred the rest of my thousands (cough) over to Blonde.

I guess TraceT won't be seen in the lobby much anymore.

lol My Ignore List gets full so rather than empty it I join a new skin, kinda like buying a new car cos the ashtray is full.

Be nice to me Blonde Poker!!!!!

Actually reached the money in the first ever MTT I played on it.

Minor quibble;

The chip on some seats are difficult to read due to the colour of the chairs. Can this be addressed?

Yes, that has been noticed, and I think it'll believe on the next update.

Don't forget to submit your suggestions via the site.

Any idea when the Loyalty levels start and the Loyalty Programme shop will be opening?

Im slowly transfering the majority of my bankroll across to BLONDEPOKERLEAGUE and will be earning quite a few action points in the near future.

Thanks

Jim.

The loyalty scheme is in operation now. play is already being accumulated towards loyalty bonuses.
