Title: O/T Computer Techies required please Post by: jbsc7769 on March 11, 2006, 07:08:52 PM I have got a file, an .img file and i want to watch it on my DVD player. Every time i try Sonic or Nero it is not letting me do it. I have managed to burn it as a disk but i think it is a data disc and as such wont play.
Any ideas please? It comes to something when i come to a Poker Forum for answers, lol Title: Re: O/T Computer Techies required please Post by: RFC on March 11, 2006, 07:44:42 PM hi mate
if you have nero 7 go to Make Photo slide show (svcd) for better quality add in your .img pictures and follow the instructions what you have put in is as if it is pictures you are trying to see and not a movie or screen clip ??? yip if its a movie you might have to convert it hope this helps Title: Re: O/T Computer Techies required please Post by: Robert HM on March 11, 2006, 07:46:46 PM It comes to something when i come to a Poker Forum for answers, lol "You know it makes sense" Title: Re: O/T Computer Techies required please Post by: jbsc7769 on March 11, 2006, 08:07:07 PM Hey RFC, thanks. I have the 6 Smart Edition. Will that do the same thing?
it was a .rar, i unzipped it and it created one file (the .img one) within the zip one i can actually see 92 other called r.91, r92 (these have the icon of an unknown file) from 1-29 have the books, almost like have have been unzipped, half havent) etc. there is also a .sfv file in there... is any of this making any sense? lol, sry! There is also a file with the xtension .dvdr which looks like like a screen with an "i" over it... Thanks! Title: Re: O/T Computer Techies required please Post by: jbsc7769 on March 11, 2006, 09:16:47 PM osrry, I am not being very helpful! OK, there are the following files.
Roughly 30 WinRAR ARchives files. They are all called the same thing Then there is a .dvdr file (its pic is a computer screen with an "i" over the screen. Then roughly 60 files starting at xxxx.r30 working up to xxxx.r92. (all are "unknown R59" or Unknown R60). Fianlly a .sfv file I "extract all" and it creates a new folder with one file in it called which is the .img file Thats about it really. No Cue files or Bin files (although it will be a bin file very soon... grrrr.) Hi Trace! do i just call it "nrg"? Sorry, I am dim... Title: Re: O/T Computer Techies required please Post by: ifm on March 11, 2006, 09:29:02 PM just rename the extention (at the end) to .nrg form .img
Title: Re: O/T Computer Techies required please Post by: jbsc7769 on March 11, 2006, 09:42:36 PM this looks promising... it now says "Foreign Image Settings (honestly guys, its not one of THOSE foreign films).
A couple of options i need to choose from... Type of image: Data Mode 1, Data Mode 2, Audio, HFS Block Size: 2048 or 2352 There is a box for a tick for raw data. Image header size and image trailer size are both at "0". Damn this stuff is complicated. all i wantde to do was watch the movie, lol THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU Title: Re: O/T Computer Techies required please Post by: Trace on March 11, 2006, 10:16:23 PM this looks promising... it now says "Foreign Image Settings (honestly guys, its not one of THOSE foreign films). If that doesn't work then download VLC Media Player and watch the film on your PC. VLC normally plays anything. Title: Re: O/T Computer Techies required please Post by: jbsc7769 on March 11, 2006, 10:43:49 PM Thanks Trace, i will give it a go tomorrow, hopefully it will work ok!
Does that work with most files, where you can just change the ending? For example, when i download "lost", i always watch it on my PC which is really annoying but AVI wont play on my DVD either. Title: Re: O/T Computer Techies required please Post by: ifm on March 11, 2006, 10:56:34 PM no, changing the extension just allows another program to recognise it, though it will only be able to use it if it is actually the right type of file to start with.
To watch .avi files on DVD you need to convert it to .bin .iso files in a seperate program (google for media converters) or burn it in Nero onto disk (auto converts). WinAvi will convert it and burn it to DVD for you too. .nrg was just another option for you to try Si. Nero should burn the .img if you choose the options I said. If you can get Alcohol 120% that should burn it for you too. I don't bother burning Lost, convert takes 1-2 hours and lets face it once I've watched it I'm not going to watch it again. Easier to watch on PC and then delete. Title: Re: O/T Computer Techies required please Post by: lazaroonie on March 12, 2006, 01:56:20 PM for those interested in that sort of thing, I have found that Avi2DVD takes about 3 times as long to convert the Divx files but the quality is far superior.
Title: Re: O/T Computer Techies required please Post by: Graham C on March 12, 2006, 03:42:35 PM Easiest way
Get and install Daemon tools - http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/download.php Set up a virtual drive and then mount the image on it (right click on the program in the system tray - virtual cd/dvd - device - mount image) Copy dvd with nero - choose the source drive as the virtual drive you have used. Title: Re: O/T Computer Techies required please Post by: jbsc7769 on March 12, 2006, 09:50:24 PM Excellent, thank you very much, it worked :-)
It did still bring up that shot in Nero but i just went with the default settings and it appears to be fine. I did try the .avi file in Nero but no go, maybe it is only in Nero 7, i only have 6. Thanks again. |
