flat call and see the flop

Hit ace or King and fire out a "tester" bet

I am not convinced I am ahead here

Also out of position   ;goodvevil; NASTY!!

I like a stop and go.
bet 1500 what ever flop comes
All in is OTT and if he has 9,9 and any balls he's gonna call being dead sure of the race and the marginal lead

You have to make him make the decision If he has AA or KK then unlucky if you think he has..... fold

If not you are at worst a small underdog ....but now the call is his.

The flop could bring more questions than answers and you could get drawn in.   win it now or get out

After his 800 bet he has 2.2k behind. Any bet on the flop on your part will commit you IMO. Testers bets and folding pre flop are not options for me here.

I like the odd stop n go, but not in this spot, not with AK where it's a possibility he could lay down pre-flop.

For me it's a big bad-boy rude-boy 'stay off my blinds table' re-raise all-in.

;chieften; (as unsophisticated as they come) One day I'll win 10 races in a row and win something.

push all in

not the place for the stop and go, put him to the test pre-flop.

If you flat call pre flop you have to fire at the flop before he does...but there is more chance of him calling a stop and go than doing so pre-flop based on my experience

from my birthday stream
-break down to two tables (from 90 initial runners). Im about average, both for the table and the tourney. blinds are 1500/3000. UTG bets 16000 leaving him about 25000 back. passes round to me in SB. I have AK and about 50000. I can either call and move in on any flop, giving him a chance to pass or put it in now on what I am assuming to be a race. I stick it in, he almost passes but correctly decides he's racing with 7,7 and calls  comes  8s Tc Th (uh oh)  Kh Kd (phew) Im now at about 90k and in very good shape. Im one of two chip leaders at the table and we are down to 13 players.

I can do both.

and Im still against savers

I agree that stop and go would not work here.

I lumped it, he waited then called with KJo !!!!

And that is exactly why you have to move in, worse hands may feel they have to call for 2 reasons. they may feel commited and they may feel if they fold after raising 4xBB they will be run over every hand..............all hat and no cattle :).

same here as in number 1. you've posed a question then after a few opinions told us the 'right' answer. ;topofclass;

Adam, if you feel that the all in here was wrong....convince me why, I'm open to new ideas.

If you feel my explanation as to why I did what I did is in some way encroaching on your right to have an opinion then I am sorry, but I feel it says more about you than it does about me...what do you think?

Easy folks, lets all hug one another.

Bollox to that actually, too hippy.

Lets start a big ruck instead.
I'll just watch, I've got a dicky chest at the mo, else I'd be right in there.

I dont want to get off on the wrong foot. all Im saying is it seemed like you have what you consider to be 'the right play' in mind when you post the situation. I talked about this in a recent stream about TV commentary. a players style determines what the right and wrong thing to do is in most situations as much as the maths do. some are bigger risk takers than others. because I'm a reletively tight player it means I have to avoid marginal situations and look for spots where Im a clear favourite. I get better at reading people for big hands (live this is) but probably means I get pushed off alot of hands where Im marginally ahead. There are players who splash about more early doors and buy themselves chips they can use in marginal situations or to use to push players like me off pots where they're a slight dog.

What I'm trying to say is horses for courses. phrases like "And that is exactly why you have to move in" dont take acount of the subjectivity of the game. (again this is live) but a stop and go from me is more likely to be successful than from the more aggressive player who's likely to get looked up more.

This is why I rarely get involved in hand analysis threads. I hate the idea of definitive right or wrong answers. there rarely is.

as I said, I dont want an argument about it.

I agree with Adam and clay and Tank and ...errrr....ME........and anyone else.

Now buy him a pint Clay and move on. Besides he has A guitar that is likely to wrapped around your head!!!!

as I said, I dont want an argument about it.

With you on this one Adam, there is no right or wrong in hand analysis, you could quite easily fold here if you wished..........
At the end of the day we (mostly) all have our own style and state of mind in particular situations, any decision here may be right and every choice you have could well be a huge mistake.
Everyones opinion is valid.
I'm allin BTW.................

well said IFM - "there is no right or wrong in poker"

Certain circumstances very true - or depends on the table, the feel you have, and how much you wanna gamble

There are some clear examples of when there is only 1 correct move.....

Anyway, i would re-raise but no all in, another 1200 to make it 2k total, it looks a lot stronger and he might then pass his mid pair. Also if he does decide to flat call you get the extra chance he might pass on the flop for the last 1k
