Title: Who is the best?
Post by: snoopy1239 on March 13, 2006, 01:50:40 AM
There was a discussion on here a while back about who the best player was and whether or not it was possible to single someone out.

Of course, the obvious points such as, 'perhaps the best player doesn't play the big comps', and 'it depends on what form of poker it is' all cropped up.

I think the conclusion was that no1 was head and shoulders above any1 else. Names such as Negranu, Brunson, Chip Reese, etc, were all highlighted, but no conclusions were made.

However, have things changed?

If we were to ask 'who is the best Hold 'Em player?'

... could the answer be Ivey?

or is it still too close to call.

So many articles written about this one but in a poll amongst "the best" Ivey came out on top (I remember reading this in cardplayer last year). If Negreanu, Feguson etc all voted for his as the best who are we to argue?

I think many people would have said Ivey anyway, but after the way he destroyed Andy Beal for $16m and won in Monte Carlo I think it's pretty clear he is the best.

I am, and if I can just start winning my final table 80/20 shots and get some cash together I'll prove it :D
