Remember distances are much greater in the states, what looks like a short trip up to coneticut, takes all day.
Stay in NYC, its my fav city. Do the empire state, Statue of liberty (via the ferry) Central park. Time sq. Add my favs Grand central station (for a real treat, get a yellow cab, upline a couple of stops.and get the train back to arrive on the lower level.) you arrive, out onto 42 st its like a film set. Trump tower.......Its just so kitch, and you can walk right on in. Most of Manhatten is pretty safe so just jump on a bus and get around......soho greenwichetc. have fun. Great town. Going myself again this April. Tip. If you want go up the empire state building and avoid the queues( it can take two hours to get up there) go in to to Jack Demsey's pub in west 33rd street and befriend the staff. Its right across the road from the empire state. They have an executive pass which they'll let you borrow in exchange for your passport. The pass gets you right to the front of the queue. Other highlights for me are Mulberry street in little italy.. the foods fantastic and chinatown's great as well. Also get the PATH train over the hudson to Hoboeken.(Frank Sinatra's birthplace). Get the ferry back to Manhattan.. the views of the skscrapers are breathtaking. ;D Damn.I cant wait to go back now...only 11 work sleeps..lol :D :D Td Th Title: Re: Foxwoods/New York Post by: Rooky9 on March 17, 2006, 01:45:56 PM Thanks Tinsel, think its only 11 work sleeps for us, well me, too!
Just have to win my seat on the 25th March and i'll be all sorted! Still no word on the 'at risk' item above, and the car hire is not as easy as planned/hoped! Title: Re: Foxwoods/New York Post by: 12barblues on March 18, 2006, 08:15:26 PM If you like a bit of culture, The Guggenheim Museum and the Metropolitan are essential viewing. Both are close together on the East side of Central Park.

If you hire a car, it's a very pleasant drive from New York of about two and a half hours, up the I95. At the right time of year, the drive through Connecticut is beautiful. Title: Re: Foxwoods/New York Post by: Rooky9 on March 19, 2006, 09:18:28 PM Car hire is starting to look pricey!
Base rate... Under 25 rate.... Insurance ...... There's just no other reasonable way of getting there thou....unless anyone happens to have a good taxi number! Title: Re: Foxwoods/New York Post by: The_nun on March 19, 2006, 09:36:03 PM Have you tried Suncars.co.uk.. or airline network..I have had some pretty gooddeals over there with these. There is another one i use but can not for the life of me remember name.
Title: Re: Foxwoods/New York Post by: Rooky9 on March 19, 2006, 09:56:22 PM Nope... haven't tried them... I'll do that now. Thanks
Genuinely thinking a taxi may actually be cheaper than renting a car a the moment... thou having the car for a day trip to boston would be good Too many decisions!!!! |
