Title: The great Bear in Blackpool Post by: RED-DOG on March 15, 2006, 04:57:45 PM Yogi introduced a new, flatter prize structure for the mini-festival at Blackpool this week, and he assures me that it will remain in place for the up coming, full blown festival in May
To my knowledge, everyone was happy, I heard no complaints Payouts were as follows 9 prizes paid in all competitions, if over 90 players, 10% of the runners will be paid 90 runners 34.5% 20% 13% 9.5% 7% 5.5% 4.5% 3.5% 2.5% There is a sliding scale up to 130 runners when payouts become 30% 20% 13% 9% 6.5% 5.5% 4.5% 3.5% 2.5% 2% 1.5% 1% 1% ;tightend; ;tightend; ;tightend; ;tightend; :respect: :respect: Title: Re: The great Bear Post by: RED-DOG on March 15, 2006, 05:08:38 PM Cardroom staff, dealers and valets at Blackpool were in great form as usual, always helpful, pleasant, and ready for a laugh
I would like to give a special mention to Clare, (The one with the dark smoldering eyes) It's like looking down the barrels of two revolvers, scary, but fascinating. What a great job she has done looking after those puppies! ;tightend; ;tightend; Title: Re: The great Bear in Blackpool Post by: TightEnd on March 15, 2006, 05:10:32 PM any success to report RED?
Title: Re: The great Bear in Blackpool Post by: RED-DOG on March 15, 2006, 05:22:09 PM any success to report RED? Afraid not Rich, I went out of the £100 re-buy in 15th, I had avarage chips when a fairly tight player raised to 7k, I rr to set him in for another 10k holding pocket 8's, he called with 5's and spiked it on the turn, I couldn't recover In the £500 I was on a crazy table, 3 players all in on the first hand, Jacks, 10's, and 5's, the 5's won That seemed to set the tone for the whole game, with a re-raise and an all in every other hand I lost a dollop of chips when I raised with QQ, (4 callers) and after that I was never in the running Title: Re: The great Bear Post by: Royal Flush on March 15, 2006, 05:48:53 PM I would like to give a special mention to Clare who? Title: Re: The great Bear in Blackpool Post by: ifm on March 15, 2006, 06:44:35 PM Looks like the flatter structure failed to stop a deal, after trying to deal 9 handed yesterday they finally managed it with 7 left.
Be interesting to know what the actually percentages dealwise were compared to the advertised structure. Fickle these poker players huh? Title: Re: The great Bear in Blackpool Post by: BlueWolf on March 15, 2006, 10:07:56 PM good on ya yogi, good to see you learnt something from me lol

Your appreciation is appreciated.
The payout's still need a little work, for when we get more than 130 players. But its def getting there. IFM, I couldn't blieve they cut a deal. Made me want to stop doing 2 day events and give long clocks and chips to people. Perhaps a 30 minute crap shoot would be better appreciated by the locals. Green Fox........... its what we always discussed. Don't propose it at The Broadway, just implement it. HEHEHEHEHE. Won't make you any more popular like. ANd Vinni. There is no I in Clare. She gets very angry about it.Fickle lady. She is on holiday but ill send her all your puppy wishes. Yogi Title: Re: The great Bear in Blackpool Post by: Yogi-Bear on March 16, 2006, 05:49:28 PM Z Aslam £9800 23%
Fogg £6800 16% Richard R £5600 13% Boycie £5000 11.5% Ming £5000 11.5% Ash £4800 11% Dunwoodie £3410 8% These are rough but perhaps ill use them next time. :):) Yogi Title: Re: The great Bear in Blackpool Post by: vinni on March 16, 2006, 05:54:12 PM sorry if ive offended any one .

Title: Re: The great Bear in Blackpool Post by: tikay on March 16, 2006, 11:44:02 PM Hi chaos, & welcome to blonde. This thread is about the Grosvenor Sandcastle, on the Promenade, opposite the Pleasure Beach. They play Texas Hld 'Em most nights - why not pop down there & take a look? Yogi & his team will look after you. But steer clear of the cash games - the locals are all as loopy as loopy things. Title: Re: The great Bear in Blackpool Post by: tikay on March 17, 2006, 01:29:34 AM sorry if ive offended any one . Did Vinni REALLY say that? Wow, things have changed around here. He used to apologise if he did NOT offend anyone. Title: Re: The great Bear in Blackpool Post by: pinnaclepoker on March 17, 2006, 04:53:19 PM Blackpool players are pussies, they always want to do 7,8 and 9 way deals. It's pathetic. Next thing you know they'll be splitting it with 30 players left.
Come on lads, Danny's made a good prize structure. Let's play it out like men. Title: Re: The great Bear in Blackpool Post by: chaosicq on March 17, 2006, 05:35:53 PM cinnacle lol wrote

Title: Re: The great Bear in Blackpool Post by: tikay on March 17, 2006, 10:46:37 PM 1). The "deal" that Yogi outlined in fact looks most sensible to me. The winner gtting almost 25% of the pool, & all the Finalists getting a decent draw. That's what THEY wanted, & I believe it reflects what many people want - FLATTER STRUCTURES. You CANNOT argue about the case on the night in question, as ALL the Finalists must have agreed to the deal. Thus, we can see that, never mind all the huff & puff, players DO want flatter structures. 2) I don't think we should refer to the players as "pussies" & not "real men" just because they did a deal with THEIR money. We are all entitled to do what we wish with our own money. Being conservative, prudent & sensible does not make them "pussies". 3) "Done pretty lousy", "pathetic", etc. Steady on guys, I know you are both newbies, but this is blonde. We like to show a little respect for our fellow players in here. Meanwhile, this thread was intended as a "well done" Blackpool for their excellent initiative in flattening the prize sructure. All the deal suggests to me is that Blackpool's initiative was a step in the right direction, but they can & should go further. I certainly don't subscribe to the logic that cutting a deal makes them "pussies" or "pathetic". Title: Re: The great Bear in Blackpool Post by: ifm on March 18, 2006, 05:01:28 AM LOL, you almost say that the flatter structure was a good thing, and worked.
