Another early knock-out - this time the beneficiary is Nick Whitten, who was ready to pass on the button to an under-the-gun raise to 300 from a tight betfair guy who hadn't really played a hand.  Until he found AA, re-raised, was r-r-raised and shoved (he was up against the likely KK).  So up to 20,000 odd.

The expected raise-fest got him off to a good start, but on the 5th hand he was knocked to just 800.  Despite a whirlwind build-up back to 48,00 a flop of 5 6 9, 2 clubs got him all in with the A8clubs against a flopped set of sixes.  Unrattled, he went for lunch.  Player comment, "Ah, it happens."

Just out on patrol, & I had a lovely surprise. Big ugly geezer says to me in an Aussie accent "are you tikay?", I think "uh-oh, who THIS?", and it's a guy whose Stars alias is Wombat. He & I populate the $500 & $1,000 SNG's, we've played 100's of SNG's together, & are great friends, such as you can be online. He lives in Sydney I believe.

Good luck to all that are stil ln, my style of play often leads for early fireworks :-\ so I am not surprised w/ my early exit. The WSOP has been great ;D the 2005 WSOP PLH World Champ ;D will be to Paris and London at the end of the month and I look forward to having a beer w/ as many of you as possible.

Sammy Farha on the feature table resplendant in orange. 

Hugh Kirton, fresh from the final table of the Paradise Masters (congratulations!) started bullying straight away and got up to 15,000, but then took a down turn when he flopped an up and down with a pair against someone's pocket 10s.  The ten on the river just clinched it and he was back down to around 8,000.  Then a low flop with continual small bet from player1, raise from Hugh and call from player1 ended up with Hugh showing his QQ and the other guy KK.  So now under 5,000 but you honestly never know with him.

Ariston posting on Jens laptop. Took a big hit just  before break with set over set and went back with 4k. 1st hand back TT down to 3000-folded on flop of 993 to a reraise (he showed jj), then played queens like an absolute tool and let someone make a full house and am down to 700. Out with qj v 99. Played badly after break and deserve to be out- no bad beats just wasnt good enough this time to get away from my set just before the break.

And now some really bad news about one of blonde's very special & favourite players, Gary Bush, and the news is bad I am afraid.

Gary's comfort zone in a 10k tourney is about 6k, & he did his best to get himself there early on.

But it all went tragically wrong, and he ended up winning the pot.

So he's got 14k, & is MOST unhappy, moaning about sucking out players & all sorts. "It's been years since I had a bad beat" he complained.

We all wish Gary well, & hope he can double down, to give himself a chance.

He is sitting there cross-eyed right now, he has no idea what to do.

MPower told me in brief the story of his exit - after unsuccessfully trying to catch with many a small pocket pair, on his seventh all-in (with AK) was finally busted.  Says he won a sattellite in the Palms which he immediately sold and is using that 1000-odd for more poker, apparently.

Hugh Kirton out - pair and up-and-down vs. set of fours finally got the rest of his chips in and lost.  He hasn't really had a bad week though.

Before the break in 10min a couple of stories:

Neil Channing doubled up with the AQ hearts in this fashion:  Raise preflop in front of him, but nutter to his left so he flat calls.  Flop J high with 2 hearts.  Bet from raiser, Neil Calls, turn an A.  So it gets in and it turns out the other guy had AJ (2pr) but that was irrelevant after the third heart came on the river.

Dom Williams (UB qualifier) has about 26k now after a rather unconventional pot.  The button raised to 525 and he called in the blind with Q 10c (off).  The flop came 8 J 2, all black (this is integral to the story.  Dom bet 200, the guy raised to 1200, call.  Turn, the 5d.  Dom bet 1000, call.  River the 3clubs.  This is where it gets interesting - Dom said he thought that there were 4 clubs on board which would have given him a flush.  Unfortunately, there was a spade in there and he ended up calling the button's 5000 bet on the river with Q high.  And winning.

Paul McDonnell down to 7k after he called with QJ and saw a flop of J 9 4. Player bet, he called.  Turn a Q.  He bet 4000, the other player all-in for 1000 more showed AA.  The 9 came to pair the board on the river and instead of 30,000 he has to settle for continuing with 7000

Alan Betson news - there was an extraordinary hand involving his pocket 9s.  6 2 3 the flop, opponent bet, he called.  Turn a 6.  The river was the really interesting card - a nine.  Alan bet over the pot, and the other guy pushed all-in.  After a minute or two, he passed and showed the rivered house, which he said he knew was up against quads.  Sure enough, the 6 6 was shown and that fold kept him in the tournament

You must be seeing double RedDog.  Actually, some connection problems here so that might happen occasionally.

Slight emendation to the Peter Roche hand - he held pocket 3s and caught the three on the river.  It all came to the same because the other guy was still pure bluffing the open-ended.....

Any news on the missing 5K Jen, Im interested to see how they deal with this one, Ive had chips go missing a few times and have been told, nicely of course, "tough, now bugger off"

Gary Bush takes unfortunate hit - up to 32,000 chips and there is an UTG limp, Gary Bush limps and so does Annie Duke.  The flop comes Q 10 8.  Holding 10 10 he's fairly happy with that flop, and bets 2,500.  The UTG guy pushes all-in for 22,000, and Gary calls... the guy shows A J, and straight away catches his K for the straight, knocking Gary down to 12,000.  "Can't it just pair up straight away and that be the end of it?" he asks.  Frustrating to play well all day and lose while pretty well ahead... nevertheless after the current break he said he was off to double up before day 2...

i ntook a stand against the chip leader lady! she was raising and reraising constantly! i raised under the gun she reraised to 10 000 and i moved allin for around 30 000! i had jj she qq... no help for me andc i give her more chips to cause havoc!

i'll have to look at how i played in the cold light of day, it felt like a good chance to get big chips... but maybe i should've played to make the 2nd day at this stage...
