Jeez you guys have competitive streaks. Here's my plan, we high card it. One card for Scotland, one for England and one for Wales. Whicever nation has the higher card is the best country and the other two have to bow to that 8) Title: Re: playing pool blonde bash Post by: Poppet7 on March 16, 2006, 05:13:26 AM Deal

Title: Re: playing pool blonde bash Post by: matt674 on March 16, 2006, 10:38:21 AM One card for Scotland, one for England and one for Wales. (good enough save?) Title: Re: playing pool blonde bash Post by: thetank on March 16, 2006, 10:49:44 AM all a bit of fun tank mate thats all. I know, I know, so was my post, if a little sarcastic. Was drunk when I made it, I'm not arguing against every single competetive/sporty challenge, merely taking the piss. Title: Re: playing pool blonde bash Post by: Mr F on March 16, 2006, 10:52:18 AM To be fair there is a hell of a lot of competitiveness going down but I think it's all in good nature.
You can put me down for the pool next bash though, be nice to beat the Scots at something!!!! (And if there's any Scots table tennis players out there......) One of my mates ex's played against me on holiday about three years ago, she was terrible, only playing cos we were in a pub. She got a full time job in a pub and spent the daytime playing when it was quiet. She's playing for county now!! She's the one person I don't want to play when we're up against her pub in the league. Title: Re: playing pool blonde bash Post by: ruthless1 on March 16, 2006, 01:39:08 PM Ive played in many leagues, and at one point could have gone to the england squad, but having children got in the way, now i play very little, but i still play well 8)

Title: Re: playing pool blonde bash Post by: ruthless1 on March 16, 2006, 01:57:50 PM I'm more of a snooker girl Thats how i got into playing pool, i met adam at butlins where we both worked, i use to keep him up alnight playing snooker, then we play pool, becasue it was quicker, i had about 4 years where i was playing nearly every day, my uncle had a pub, hes a gambling man , and use to bring his mates in and say that he would choose any player to play against them, i use to be sat in the corner like i was just there with a few mates, then he would ask me to play, i would lose afew then clean up, 8)Title: Re: playing pool blonde bash Post by: Poppet7 on March 16, 2006, 02:01:14 PM Leon got me into snooker when I was 14, then for my 15th birthday I asked for my own snooker cue! We occasionally play down the snooker club but very rarely nowadays because of poker and going to the casino (Leon has won about £2,500 in about 3/4 weeks).
(By the way Ruth, this time tomorrow we would've just landed in Glasgow!! I can feel the cold now! Brrrrr!!) Title: Re: playing pool blonde bash Post by: ruthless1 on March 16, 2006, 02:05:44 PM hopefully if the plane dont crash rotflmfao rotflmfao

Title: Re: playing pool blonde bash Post by: Ironside on March 16, 2006, 06:37:27 PM we nearly tried to claim a match by default as they didnt have enough room for me to get round the table
but in the end we got both teams moving the table into the dinning area Title: Re: playing pool blonde bash Post by: gatso on March 16, 2006, 09:13:43 PM you coming out with us on the friday night then ironside?
Title: Re: playing pool blonde bash Post by: Ironside on March 16, 2006, 09:38:36 PM depends on what time i arrive
might just goto cincins see whos there i am a little too old for a friday night in glasgow nowadays and paddys day in glasgow might be a tad too much puking and punching going on for me anyway we wont get a pool table we can use on a friday night in glasgow will we and will the pubs let me carry my case round with me? Title: Re: playing pool blonde bash Post by: gatso on March 16, 2006, 09:43:29 PM we're starting in the pool club so assume we can get tables there.
club is opposite the travelodge where several people are staying so you can always leave your cue in one of their rooms if we move on Title: Re: playing pool blonde bash Post by: Scottish Dave on March 16, 2006, 10:11:41 PM Why would there be punching? - im not getting at anyone, but evertime we mention glasgow on a friday or saturday, some one always comes in with a "im not going into glasgow on paddies night2 or "i think ill give the battles a miss"
in my opinion i think most of use scots on here jave proven ourself to you lot that what you all think about us is wrong. as i say im not getting at anyone in particular, but its not nice to always be associated in such bad taste. we are just like any other city on a friday or saturday IMHO Title: Re: playing pool blonde bash Post by: Ironside on March 16, 2006, 10:17:57 PM dave glasgow london birmingham ELGIN they are all the same drunken jobs throw punches at kicking out time
5 years ago i wouldn't mind 15 years ago i would be joining in from my chair 18 years ago i was in the army and starting them Title: Re: playing pool blonde bash Post by: Decider on March 16, 2006, 10:34:27 PM There isn't that much trouble in Glasgow - haven't been involved in a fight in Glasgow and I've been going out regularly for 14 years there.
Title: Re: playing pool blonde bash Post by: Geist on March 16, 2006, 10:40:21 PM Rarely do i see trouble over the weekend and there is a strong police presence around most of the clubs, CCTV 24 hour buses and a few taxi ranks to stop people hanging around.
There are a few places thts a bit rough and perhaps more likely seeing a fight but long as you avoid them your fine. Title: Re: playing pool blonde bash Post by: Ironside on March 16, 2006, 10:52:06 PM well i rarely go out nowadays normally when i do i dont drink its amazing how many people you see getting thrown out of bars and lifted by the police on a night out if you dont drink
its the same in any town or city and if your drunk you dont normally mind as you dont normally see it or remember it Title: Re: playing pool blonde bash Post by: gatso on March 16, 2006, 10:54:05 PM I have to say it's never once occurred to me that going out in Glasgow might be dodgy whereas I wouldn't dream of going out to my local town in kent on a friday/saturday night
Title: Re: playing pool blonde bash Post by: Scottish Dave on March 16, 2006, 11:38:44 PM I have to say it's never once occurred to me that going out in Glasgow might be dodgy whereas I wouldn't dream of going out to my local town in kent on a friday/saturday night exactly mate, all i was trying to say was that some people werent painting a very good picture of glasgow, and may be putting guys like yourself off it. no worries about going out mate, its just going to be a normal night out, just having some laughs Title: Re: playing pool blonde bash Post by: BigTomatoes on March 17, 2006, 09:42:04 AM Glasgow on a Friday or Saturday night is great. Great laugh, good atmosphere and the majority of folk are decent people out to have a good night.
of course everyone knows about the neds and the occasional yob or loudmouth idiot starting trouble but in general Glasgow is a great city. put it this way I live in a small town not far from Glasgow called Airdrie and you should try going to some of the pubs or pool halls around here. pub - the staging post ( aka The Stab Inn ) or Cue Here ( aka The Clatty Club ) ;hide; Title: Re: playing pool blonde bash Post by: Scottish Dave on March 17, 2006, 03:05:50 PM Glasgow on a Friday or Saturday night is great.
