Mt first reaction would be that we have been interfered with, but we are checking it out with bream & sparks right now. But be assured, neither Rhow, Dave or myself know ANYTHING about how these rotating banners came to be there. I spoke to Rhow, she did not get it on her 'puter, but it did appear on Dave's. Dave was well-worried about it, as was I - how on earth did it happen, who did it, & how? It's JUST possible that Bream or Sparks pressed a wrong button & inserted them on the Forum by mistake, but I've never heard of two of the three sites advertised, & I'm sure I (or Dave or Rhow) would know - 100% - if we were doing business with any of these people. Anyway, I've reversed the change I did to fix the home page which has stopped the ad appearing in the forum.
The ability to display ads is available in the forum software, but we have it disabled. Somehow it got re-enabled. We'll have a closer look tonight. I wrote to Rhow about a totally unconnected matter today - getting some Banners up on the Home Page (NOT the Forum) & this was her response (edited to remove the bulk of the reply which is not relevant to this).... ".....with the move to a different server it has upset the banner sofware we use to place the ads on the site. Rowan is having a look at the problem and will have it fixed later this afternoon. as soon as I get word from him that it's fixed I'll get them up......" Reading between the lines, it's all starting to make sense now. |
