Title: allin early in tournament
Post by: jocko6666 on March 16, 2006, 06:27:07 PM
About an hour into a tournament recently and doing OK. Blinds 100/50 chip stack about 8500 (started 7000).
One player raised 3 times big blind and I, with KK, reraised 1500. Other player rereraised 4500 and after guessing no AA
I went allin.
Other player had JJ and caught third on turn (and fourth on river, by the way). Me out of tournament.

I didnt think other player's play was good. However, maybe I could have  played differently as:

a) I was enjoying tournament and maybe allin at that stage was not best move

b) Maybe I should just have let other player take pot after 4500 raise(might have had AA anyway)

That way at least I'm still in.

Does anyone  have any thoughts?

Firstly, welcome to blonde

Secondly, why did you do anything wrong?...you got it all in pre flop as a massive favourite and got outdrawn...it doesn't matter if its 5 hands in or 500 hands in it can still happen

One thing you might consider is flat calling his reraise to 4500 and then pushing on the flop....he might have a harder time calling with JJ post flop

Anyway JJ overplayed it, not you

and I am of the school that says never fold KK pre flop because you can never be 1005 sure your mateboy has AA

Welcome!

No bad play there, you were outdrawn.

You had a bad beat and it cost you all your chips and 50p in the blonde bad beat fund.
