Title: Re: online bingo Post by: ifm on July 11, 2005, 07:43:55 PM I tried deleting the cookie when this first happened but to no avail, i still have to login when i leave for over a certain amount of time.
It must be the cookie but i think the site is assigning the wrong one. Title: Re: online bingo Post by: Bongo on July 11, 2005, 07:50:13 PM I have that problem too IFM - I assumed it was a corrupt cookie at first and deleted it, but got no joy. I haven't looked into it further yet.
Title: Re: online bingo Post by: ifm on July 11, 2005, 07:59:03 PM Right, it appears that the site isn't assigning a cookie at all.
Therefore it will not auto login without one, i deleted mine, logged in, left and then searched for the cookie but there isn't one. Title: Re: online bingo Post by: thediceman on July 11, 2005, 08:19:25 PM I too am back to square one :-[
Title: Re: online bingo Post by: Ironside on July 11, 2005, 09:32:54 PM 1) delete the link to the forum

Title: Re: online bingo Post by: Ironside on July 11, 2005, 09:52:40 PM well its working for me
Title: Re: online bingo Post by: ifm on July 11, 2005, 10:40:35 PM does this work for anyone else?
i deleted the cookie and it was NOT replaced, no cookie=no autologin. So it can't possibly work on my puter. I wish i'd kept the cookie, i coulda tried to adapt it to work again Title: Re: online bingo Post by: neeko on July 11, 2005, 10:53:35 PM I wonder if the cookie was for the temp forum, the text file had "ppbp..." at the start of it which i think, was what powered the temp forum. I cant seem to get my login to stay, but when i go back into the forum after closing IE i am a guest but i am in the list of users. wierd.
Title: Re: online bingo Post by: Ironside on July 11, 2005, 10:55:12 PM does this work for anyone else? you need to delete the forum shortcut and replace it tooi deleted the cookie and it was NOT replaced, no cookie=no autologin. So it can't possibly work on my puter. I wish i'd kept the cookie, i coulda tried to adapt it to work again this is because the cookie is in the url Title: Re: online bingo Post by: Ironside on July 11, 2005, 10:56:39 PM I wonder if the cookie was for the temp forum, the text file had "ppbp..." at the start of it which i think, was what, was the basis of the temp forum. I cant seem to get my login to stay, but when i go back into the forum after closing IE i am a guest but i am in the list of users. wierd. your on the list of users as you have been active in the last 15 minutes the only way to get yourself off the list is to hit the logout button Title: Re: online bingo Post by: ifm on July 11, 2005, 11:03:26 PM i don't have a shortcut, never have.
I use the dropdown in the address bar but i have deleted all my history, cookies, offline content and temp files. If i go into a different forum now and login it will replace the cookie and i can come and go as i please, on here it does NOT replace the cookie so it will never ever ever autologin. cookies are not in the url they are transmitted from the webserver directly to your computer embedded in the html stream Title: Re: online bingo Post by: Ironside on July 11, 2005, 11:06:38 PM i don't have a shortcut, never have. Title: Re: online bingo Post by: ifm on July 11, 2005, 11:21:11 PM a session id has nothing to do with logging in.
the cookie is on YOUR computer usually in windows/cookies, when you type in the url the server that recieves the request will search your cookie folder for their cookie, if it finds it it will read the info (userid, UNIQUE id value) this it matches with your profile in it's database and if you selected "forever" when you logged in it will automatically log you in. If you have no cookie (i don't) it will simply treat you as a guest, but it should recreate the cookie for future use. Ian as i said the cookie is broken THATS NOT IN DISPUTE but to tempory save you logging in every 5 minutes use the session id in the url Title: Re: online bingo Post by: Bongo on July 11, 2005, 11:29:56 PM Was just trying to clarify, some webpages will treat you as logged in if you have a valid session ID in the URL.
Anyway, I am no longer logging out at random the forum no longer inserts a session ID into the URL when I login. IE shows no cookie for me. Firefox shows a cookie being created that expires at the end of the session. My guess is that this is due to the different browsers handling session cookies differently and not some sort of glitch that prevents IE from creating a cookie. I think i still have to log in everytime though, I will verify this now. edit: Yes I still have to log in. Title: Re: online bingo Post by: ifm on July 11, 2005, 11:40:58 PM My appologies ironside i didn't understand you meant to use the url with the session id in it to return.
Just tried it, it doesn't work. We will just have to wait till they fix the cookie maker. Session id is only temporary, it is only cached in the browsers memory for twenty minutes or until the browser is closed. Ian Title: Re: online bingo Post by: tikay on July 17, 2005, 01:32:36 AM Has this sorted itself out for you guys yet? If not, let me know, & we wll try & fix it. I must say, it's still not quite right on my computer. It often logs itself out, & the blue "NEW" signs, which indicate a new post, don't always work. This followed the incident when we had to change servers mid WSOP, nightmare city. I was reluctant to ask the blonde techies to fiddle about with it any more during the WSOP, as it would have been too awful for words if it had fallen over again. At the time, site traffic was huge. But now things have calmed down a bit, we oughta fix it if it's still not right. So, does it still need fixing guys? Title: Re: online bingo Post by: ifm on July 17, 2005, 02:02:09 AM Yp, there is an auto login problem, if anyone is away from the site for more than 20mins they must login in again. Just tell whoever is your 'puter whizz it's the cookie, they'll understand. Ian Title: Re: online bingo Post by: tikay on July 17, 2005, 02:09:09 AM Thanks Ian, I'm on the case.
