Title: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: Djinn on July 11, 2005, 08:24:49 PM I heard Tikay telling Xuyen that they'd been drawn on the same table and he was going to be pinching her blinds. Not true. I am sure that he wouldn't hesitate if they were though...
Just going to check out the size of the field they are going to have to demolish. Some fretting earllier about the fact that they only get 1500 in chips, but there's an hour clock so it shouldn't be too bad. Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: Djinn on July 11, 2005, 08:53:35 PM People spotted while walking between the tables:
Chris Ferguson Steve Vladar Jac Arama (Apparently he arrived at his seat to find a confused person in it. They were still sorting this out when I walked by so no action yet) TIkay Bad Girl Willie Tann Michael Lacey (from antesup who has been so very helpful in the media arena these past few days.) He's on 2200, the others look about level. Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: Djinn on July 11, 2005, 09:20:10 PM Here are some chip counts with a few related tales:
Tikay 1825, just now down from 3500. Saw him deliberating over calling all-in over a 3h 3c 7h flop and passing. The other guy showed AA. He had previously failed to 'sit and watch the players' as he was talking about earlier as he flopped a set of 4s on an all-diamond flop and called down the flush. Then the chips had returned following a call of someone's all-in on a K x x board with QK and finding the other guy on a bluff. Expect more of the same Bad Girl 525 after an unlucky hit for an AA slowplayer. She held 6 4 and got it all in against the Aces on a 4 4 K board but out came the A on the turn. Quote to the other guy: "You owe me a drink." Willie Tann 2000 Quote: "Is this a bracelet event?" Steve Vladar 1225 Dom Williams 900 El Blondie 1300 Devilfish 1900 (having just called a short-stack all-in with AJoff and beaten his 8 8 as the flop came J J 6 Q 3. Quote from starstruck floorman: "that's how you become a world champion." Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: Djinn on July 11, 2005, 10:09:30 PM Jac Arama 1900
Willie Tann 1700 Dom Williams 600 Erik Seidel 1700 Bad Girl 1000 Julian Thew 700 Brian Wilson 2000 Tony Bloom 1600 The benevolent Mike Lacey is out, with the damage being done by an A3 which called his AK raise and hit the A K 3 flop. The extra three came and took him down to a non-recoverable stack and his press pass is back on. Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: Djinn on July 11, 2005, 11:03:34 PM Brian Wilson out with the unreleasable 7 4 off. He saw a flop of 6 J 8 for 375 from the player on his right, the 4 on the turn for another 375, and then called the guy all-in for an unhelpful river card (the guy had queens). Player quote: "What can you do?"
Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: Djinn on July 11, 2005, 11:05:55 PM Bad Girl up to 1600
Steve Vladar 1800 Julian Thew 800 Tikay 2400 Devilfish 2600 El Blondie out, and according to Rhowena gone to play golf in 100 degree desert heat. Fun in the sun. Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: Ironside on July 11, 2005, 11:07:47 PM El Blondie out, and according to Rhowena gone to play golf in 100 degree desert heat. Fun in the sun. could of done that in scotland much cheaper more courses same heat but less poker Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: Djinn on July 11, 2005, 11:52:52 PM Steve Vladar 2300
Devilfish 4000 Bad Girl 3200, impressive recovery. Everyone else has moved or moved on and the Main Event is on a break so there's a bit of room-clearing going on. Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: ifm on July 11, 2005, 11:54:33 PM How's Tikay doing please?
Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: Djinn on July 12, 2005, 12:43:42 AM Tikay out (temporarily) for the old swearing chestnut. All in good fun he forgot the language restrictions and self-exiled before the dealer could do it. Not too unhappy though, as he has 9000 chips. "How did you get those?" I asked. "What do you mean? I just played."
He got a few through calling 10 10 with 9 9 ("I knew he had nothing") and spiking the nine, then having KK and getting paid. The other guy probably thought he had nines. Bad Girl's terrible luck continuing as she is out having been all-in with AA vs JJ which spiked and filled up. Steve Vladar said he'd taken a coin flip and it had come down the wrong way. Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: Djinn on July 12, 2005, 01:38:59 AM Tikay going strong, playing genuine hands on the button, apparently. 12,000
Jac Arama 6,000 Devilfish 2,000 Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: Djinn on July 12, 2005, 02:31:51 AM They're heading for dinner here too - Just caught up with Tikay in time to see him raise pre-flop with the button calling. The flop came 5 J 6 rainbow, and the guy called 975 on the flop. The turn was a 10 and to Tikay's 1525 bet there came a speedy all-in. The guy covered him and after a big dwell he passed (QQ). The guy nicely showed his flopped set of 5s and Tikay is down to 8,000 from about 13,000.
Jac Arama has a monstrous stack of chips - about 32,000 I believe Devilfish is out Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: Djinn on July 12, 2005, 04:16:02 AM Tikay back in control of a 11,000 stack after re-raising Marcel Luske from the big blind, all-in with AQ. He called with Q 9 and so there is a bit of breathing more easily going on.
Jac Arama on 20,000 Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: Djinn on July 12, 2005, 05:30:49 AM Mel Judah has just moved to Tikay's left, which doesn't seem to have put him off raising genuine hands on the button.
Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: Djinn on July 12, 2005, 05:34:51 AM Jac Arama 22,000
Tikay 13,000 Marcel Luske 47,000 It apparently pays 70 places, and they are down to 120. Probably fewer, now that it's taken me the 15 minutes to go around the velvet ropes and get back to the laptop. They are apparently playing until 2am, so it can wrap up tomorrow. Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: Djinn on July 12, 2005, 07:26:58 AM There are three to go to the money and it looks like Tikay might not bubble, having held on to 13,000 (and by held on, I mean halved and doubled-up again a couple of times). Last double up was with AK bb which reraised a button raise and now he's paying attention as they're almost there....
Playing til 3am, TD said Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: Djinn on July 12, 2005, 07:43:09 AM Just heard that bubble over in the $1500 - which means that Tikay is in the money. Unless it was him. But I think there were at least 5 very short stacks and his chips appeared glued together. And to the table. Going to find the payout.
Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: Djinn on July 12, 2005, 08:24:45 AM TIKAY MAKES THE MONEY
After the bubble there was a little flurry of knockouts with the field down to 57, I believe. When asked about strategy at this point, Tikay replied, "I'm going to treat it as the first hand of a 64-runner freezeout." So he felt he could bet when receiving pocket Aces. Not paid much, but still on about 15,000. Marcel Luske the most likely chip leader with 72,000 Jac Arama 5500 They are on a break and the man at the payout podium assures me photocopies of the money list will appear thereafter. Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: Djinn on July 12, 2005, 09:10:41 AM Here's the payout from now on (45 players remaining):
1 $309,630 2 $162,270 3 $91,740 4 $80,275 5 $68,805 6 $57,340 7 $45,870 8 $34,405 9 $22,935 10 - 12 $12,615 13 - 15 $10,320 16 - 18 $8,025 19 - 27 $5,735 28 - 36 $4,015 37 - 45 $3,325 Just saw Tikay raise all-in with 'aces' and pick up the hefty blinds putting him back to about 11k (they are 1000, 2000 with a 400 ante) Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: Maroon on July 12, 2005, 10:12:03 AM Come on Tikay!!
Good luck fella!! ;D Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: Jamier-Host on July 12, 2005, 11:14:37 AM Did AlrightJack play in this as well or is he aiming for a different one?? Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: AlrightJack on July 12, 2005, 11:59:59 AM See my diary thread for info on the $1,000 event I'm still in going into Day 2!
Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: tikay on July 12, 2005, 12:24:42 PM I eventually finished 31st of 871 (chirp chirp) & took home $4,015 for my troubles. I busted out when my dominating AJ was rivered by the A-4's kicker, poo! But I got lucky earlier when my 99 beat TT, so can't complain. Many thanks to Wiliam Hill Poker.com for their sponsorship of me in this event. It was a one off deal, as was the Poker 425 sponsorship of me at Gutshot, & I cashed in both of them, so you could say I'm 2 for 2. Quittting while ahead springs to mind. But the biggest kick is to be able to say I have cashed in a WSOP Event, my first proper one, & maybe my last, so 1 from 1 will do me nicely. And I can look myself up on The Hendon Mob Database & see that little WSOP icon against my name. Ego, eh? Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: RED-DOG on July 12, 2005, 12:41:51 PM "Maybe my last" thats a worrying statement, care to expand?
Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: tikay on July 12, 2005, 01:18:02 PM I only got to go to Vegas because a highly unlikely chain of events conspired to get me there Tom. The last 6 months have been dream-like for me. Blondepoker, The Poker 425 TV prog, a number of writing commissions, and even sponsorship by William Hill in today's event. This is "form" or luck of the highest order, & I'd be more than surprised if the wheels dont come off soon. And if they do, well so be it, I've had a ball. So it would be tempting fate to suggest I could repeat the trick next year. Would I like to? Of course. But gotta keep my feet on the grind, & accept the obvious - my luck won't last for ever. And aother thing. It has doubtless escaped your notice - because I look so young and frisky - but I am not as young as you think. If you get my drift. Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: Maroon on July 12, 2005, 01:45:02 PM Well done!
Nice work if you can get it and I say you should get it again because the coverage has been great. Fantastic effort by you and your team. Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: RED-DOG on July 12, 2005, 01:54:39 PM Thats ok then.
Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: Shaa on July 12, 2005, 04:50:13 PM well done again TK.
Any news on the other places or is it finishing today?? Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: tikay on July 12, 2005, 08:09:02 PM Thanks Guys, I really appreciate those words. I actually feel like I won the thing - I was more surprised than pleased initially, but it just shows, us regular guys CAN do it, given a bit of luck. The comp continues today, & I will try & keep you updated. Marcel Luske is in great shape. He & Jac were on my table most of the night, both of them deep stacked, but Jac achieved the near impossible & blew them all away. But that's his style, he likes to mess about in every pot, & if he catches cards, bingo! Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: AwesomeAli on July 12, 2005, 10:59:11 PM Any chance of getting a list of the last 27 runners?
Any Mobsters left in?? AwesomeAli Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: Teacake on July 12, 2005, 11:47:40 PM Tikay as Jack Nicklaus once said (I'm paraphrasing here)
"its funny, the harder I work the luckier I get" I've never met you or spoke to you but as we say up here you sir are a legend :) Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: Djinn on July 12, 2005, 11:52:08 PM Tikay has just walked the nine miles to the $1500 no-limit Day 2 area and they are on a break. Typical. Found John Gale who is on about 45k. The rest of them are being coloured-up and he's going back to get some actual information
Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: AwesomeAli on July 12, 2005, 11:57:42 PM Cool, I knew I could rely on Tikay to walk all the way there to get the info ;D
Ali Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: tikay on July 13, 2005, 12:49:26 AM Phew, just for Ali, I have walked ALL the way down to the $1,500 & all the way back again. It's a good 20 miles each way. So far as I can see, they are down to 2 tables, maybe 6 or 7 on each. I can't see John Gale, sadly. I could see Erik Seidel, & Marcel Luske. Also two very good buds of mine from the PokerStars $500 SNG's. "Wombat" - he's from Brisbane in Aussie, dont know his real name, maybe it's Mr Womabat Outahell. The other guy also populates the $500 SNG's, "Legato", from Stockholm, real name Bo Somebody. Bo Scheimeasftrenddruev I think, or similar. He has the game to win this. He looked after me a treat in Stockholm last year. Marcel seems to have taken a few big hits. Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: AwesomeAli on July 13, 2005, 01:19:09 AM TY Tikay :-*
Its gone from 9 miles to 20 miles each way !! Any of the hendon mob in there?? I have a friend of a friend who wants to know ;) Ali Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: tikay on July 13, 2005, 02:03:56 AM The Hendon Mob? Joe busted out of the biggie this morning. None of the other three did any good - assuming they played - in the $1,500 yesterday. Mind you, that was a seriously tough comp to try & get a money finish in, they reckoned you needed to be World-Class. In the $1,000 today, I just saw Barney I think, but I'm not sure, & it's early days yet. Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: AwesomeAli on July 13, 2005, 02:20:25 AM ye, I saw that Joe out of the biggie.
Was more interested in the $1,500. Nowhere has posted any results from today so we are relying on you guys (out in the field) to let us know whats happend on day 2 of this event. Keep us posted on teh $1,000 too ! As usual you are doing a fab job. Keep it up Ali Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: tikay on July 13, 2005, 03:38:22 AM We will keep an eye on the $1,500 tonight - don't mind me having to walk the 30 miles each way each time (uphill both ways). If the $1,000 gets interesting tonight, we'll pick it up, if not, we will follow the Final stages tomorrow. It's bizarre here, they have 3 bracelet comps running simultraneously. The $1,000 & $1,500 are both ignored and relegated to a little corner of the giant arena. And they won't let us near the big one. Title: Re: WSOP $1500 no-limit FREEZEOUT Post by: Ironside on July 13, 2005, 04:19:46 AM we are only trying to keep you fit
tony can you go check the $1500 tables and see if anyone has a hankie i can borrow |
